Installation Steps
Step 1: Remove the backplate from the card
- For Founders Edition (#A): Remove 16 screws. Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver for the 2 screws near the bracket (circled in yellow) and a Phillips #0 for the remaining 14 (circled in red). Set these screws aside as they will not be reused.
- For Blower and iCX models (#B, #C, #D): Remove 16 screws (circled in the image). Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Set these screws aside as they will not be reused.
Step 2: Remove bracket screws (Founders Edition only)
For Founders Edition (#A), remove the screws circled on the bracket using a Phillips #1 screwdriver. Set these screws aside.
Step 3: Remove remaining screws and thermal module
- For Founders Edition (#A): Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver for the 4 spring screws and a 4mm Hex driver for the 14 standoff screws (circled). This allows the thermal module to be removed. Set these screws aside.
- For EVGA Blower models and iCX models (#B,#C,#D): Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the 4 spring screws (circled). This allows the thermal module to be removed. Set these screws aside.
Step 4: Remove heatsink and fan
Carefully disconnect the fan and LED connectors. Gently twist the thermal module to loosen the heatsink from the thermal pads and GPU. Lift the heatsink to expose the fan and LED wires. There may be up to 2 fan headers and 1 LED header. Be careful not to snap the wires when disconnecting; use a small flat-head screwdriver, tweezers, or fingernails to gently lift the connector edges. It is recommended to remove the LED header first, followed by the fan headers. Set the original heatsink/fan aside.
Step 5: Clean the card
Remove all thermal grease and pads from the GPU and PCB. Clean the GPU with high-percentage isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. You may reattach the original thermal pads to the same locations on the original cooler for potential warranty purposes. The cleaned card should resemble the provided images.
Step 6: Install the memory baseplate
- For Founders Edition cards (#A): Remove protective tape from the bottom of the #2 memory baseplate. Install the memory baseplate as shown. Hold the copper plate in place, turn the card over, and tighten 4 #14 standoff screws.
- For Blower or iCX models (#B,#C,#D): Ensure thermal pads are correctly positioned. Install the memory baseplate as shown. Hold the copper plate in place, turn the card over, place the right backplate over the card, and tighten with 4 #6 screws.
Step 7: Install the MOS-FET heatsink
- For Founders Edition cards (#A): Remove protective tape from the heatsink. Install the #4 heatsink as shown. Hold the heatsink in place, turn the card over, and tighten 3 #13 screws.
- For Blower or iCX models (#B,#C,#D): Ensure thermal pads are correctly positioned. Install the heatsink as shown. Hold the heatsink in place, turn the card over, place the left backplate over the card, and tighten with 3 #6 screws.
Step 8: Install rubber insert
For all cards, install #15 rubber insert onto the metal post with the grooves facing upwards.
Step 9: Install pump
Remove the plastic cover from the #3 pump without touching the thermal grease. Install the pump over the memory baseplate as shown. Place the radiator fan wire in the middle of the grooves. Turn the card over while holding the pump, and fasten with 4 #8 spring screws.
Step 10: Install pump power cable
Run the power connector with a Y adapter around the tube and pump. Use #5 acetate tape and a #16 cable tie (if necessary) to secure the wire. Run the wire under the MOSFET heatsink groove and plug the power adapter into the fan header. Secure the wire to the heatsink with acetate tape. Finally, plug the MOSFET fan cable into the passthrough connector.
Step 11: Connect LED wire and install shroud
Connect the LED cable based on your graphics card model:
- 2-Pin: Plug into the 2-pin connector if you have models (#A, #B, #C).
- 6-Pin: Plug into the 6-pin connector if you have model (#D).
Step 12: HYBRID radiator fan cable
Ensure the radiator fan cable runs in the middle of the rubber grooves before installing the shroud.
Step 13: Install the shroud
Install the #1 shroud onto the card, ensuring it is beneath the edge of the bracket and fits into the grooves on the rubber insert.
Step 14: Reinstall the backplate and finish
- For Founders Edition cards (#A): Tighten 6 #12 screws (red circles) and 1 #13 screw (yellow circle). Then, tighten 2 #9 screws (red circles), 10 #10 screws (yellow circles), and 4 #11 screws (green circles).
- For Blower model and iCX cards (#B,#C,#D): Tighten 8 #7 screws (yellow circles) and 1 #6 screw (red circle).
Once the backplate is fastened, the HYBRID installation is complete.
Mounting the Radiator
- Mount the radiator at a level above the graphics card to reduce pump noise and prevent air bubbles.
- The radiator fits mounting holes designed for a 120mm x 120mm case fan.
- The default setting allows the fan to blow through the radiator and out of the chassis. Installation at the back or top of the chassis is recommended.
- If mounting at the back of the chassis, position the tubes at the bottom of the radiator.
- Ensure slack in the tubing lines to prevent damage to the tubing or fittings. Twisted or tightly pulled tubes can cause leaks.
- Align the radiator with the chassis mounting holes. Use #17 washers and screws to fasten the radiator to the chassis from the outside.
- Use the remaining #16 cable ties to secure the radiator fan wire to the tubing.
Your EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC HYBRID Kit installation is now fully complete!
