Compatibility Check and Preparation
Check Compatibility
Before assembling the cooler, compare your graphics card with the images in the Alphacool configurator at https://gpu.alphacool.com. Search for your specific graphics card or cooler model. You can also compare the PCB number for definitive identification, as the cooler is designed for a specific PCB layout. Be aware that graphics card manufacturers may revise their designs, which could lead to incompatibility with later models. During assembly, ensure that taller components have sufficient clearance and that the cooler does not damage your graphics card.
Alphacool International GmbH is not liable for assembly errors resulting from negligence, such as selecting an incompatible cooler.
Prepare Graphics Card
Place your graphics card hardware on an antistatic mat. Begin by dismantling the original cooler. Depending on the cooler's construction, you may need to remove screws from the back of the card and carefully disconnect the fan connector. If the original cooler uses thermal glue, proceed with extreme caution to avoid damaging components. Handle all parts carefully. After dismantling, clean the hardware of any thermal paste or pad residues using a solvent, such as isopropanol alcohol.
Step 1: Remove Transport Spacer
This step involves removing a transport spacer from the graphics card assembly. The visual depicts a graphics card PCB with a spacer being detached.
Step 2: Place Thermal Pads on Cooling Block
This step guides the placement of thermal pads onto the cooling block. The visual indicates specific areas on the cooling block where the thermal pads should be applied.
Assembly Instructions
Apply Thermal Grease
Apply the provided thermal grease (G) to the GPU die and other necessary contact points on the cooling block using the putty tool (H).
Install PCB
Carefully align and place the graphics card PCB onto the cooling block assembly, ensuring it is seated correctly.
Place Thermal Pads on PCB Backside
Apply the thermal pads (L, K) to the backside of the graphics card PCB. Place them on components such as VRMs and memory chips as shown in the diagram.
Install IO-Shield and Mount Backplate
Attach the IO-shield to the graphics card. Mount the backplate to the graphics card assembly using the provided screws (A, S, N, M) and the screwdriver (S).
Connect ARGB Lighting
Connect the ARGB adapter (P) to the ARGB header on the graphics card and to the appropriate ARGB controller or motherboard header for customizable lighting effects.
Screw in Screw Plugs with Tool
Utilize the plug tool (R) to securely screw in the G1/4 plugs (Q) into the designated ports on the cooling block.
