Before Installation
Read the operation manual thoroughly before installation to understand the device and prevent damage. Installation and maintenance should only be performed by a qualified electrician when the device is not under voltage.
For specific issues not covered, contact your vendor. Altering or rebuilding the control device without authorization is prohibited. The manufacturer reserves the right to make improvements.
Ensure building cables have sufficient cross-section. For older buildings, check connecting boxes and consider a new cable from the main switchboard. Install separate protection for the heater. Connecting to the mains without an earth-leakage circuit breaker is recommended.

Installing UKU Electrical Control Device
Before installation, disconnect the electric heater from the power supply.
- The control device (1) must be installed outside the steam room, at user's eye level near the door, or as per manufacturer's recommendations.
- If your main controller (2) supports WiFi, install it where reception is adequate.
- The device must be installed in a dry place with IPX4 protection. Anchor power cables via the provided cable gland.
- Do not exceed a room temperature of 104°F (40°C) or 95% relative humidity.
- Ensure the controller box is sealed to prevent pollution.
CAUTION! The control device must be permanently connected to the mains without plugs. A method to disconnect all poles (a circuit breaker) must be installed. Power cables must meet UL 62 (US) and CSA 49 (Canada) standards, with a minimum temperature rating of 140°F (60°C). Cable cross-section depends on heater power. Recommended wire sizes: 10 AWG for 4.5/6 kW heaters, 6 AWG for 9 kW heaters, 10 AWG for 12 kW heaters (double-wire), 6 AWG for 15/18 kW heaters (double-wire). Always have cable size approved and installed by a qualified electrician.
NB! A method to disconnect all poles (a circuit breaker) must be installed on the power circuit.
NB! Measure cable lengths and determine locations of cables and device parts.
Control Panel – UKU
With a wooden housing:
- Remove the back cover to attach it to the wall.
- Attach the back cover so the upper edge of the control panel is at eye level.
- Connect the power cable to the device's screw terminal.
- Attach the device to the back cover and secure with side screws.
With a plastic housing:
- Connect the power cable to the UKU control panel's cable screws.
- Pull off the control panel knob.
- Attach the device to the wall with screws.
- Replace the control knob.
Main Module
- When installing inside the steam room, place the enclosure 4-19.7 inches (10-50 cm) above the floor.
- Fix the unit to the wall with 4 screws.
- Do not attach to the ceiling or inclined surfaces.
- Connect cables (control panel, temperature sensor, door switch) through a cable gland to the enclosure and main module.
- Connect the power cable (240V 2(N)~ or 120V) through cable glands to the main module.
Door Sensor
The door switch consists of a sensor and a magnet.
- Connect the cable ends to the switch terminals.
- Secure the magnet to the door, ensuring it allows the door to close and pass directly by the doorpost.
- Secure the sensor to the doorpost so it aligns with the magnet when the door closes. The maximum distance between sensor parts when the door is closed must be 0.2 inches (5 mm).
Temperature Sensor with Overheating Protection
- Connect the cable to the temperature sensor's plug.
- Screw the temperature sensor onto the wall.
- The sensor cannot be placed above the heater; it must be at least 19.7 inches (50 cm) away from it.
- The sensor must be 5.9-7.9 inches (15-20 cm) from the ceiling.
- The sensor must be at least 19.7 inches (50 cm) from any air opening (ventilation, door, window).
Vaporizer
A vaporizer connects to SL and SN outputs. If a vaporizer is connected, select the vaporizer function in the control console settings.
NB! When connecting a vaporizer function, ensure the water tank is always filled. If the tank is empty, the vaporizer function is disabled, risking burnout of the heating element.
Connection of a Lighting System
Lighting/ventilation can be connected to the LL and LN outputs. This allows switching the connected system on/off from the control console.
- To use the lighting function, select it in the control console settings.
- The maximum power for lighting/ventilation is 120V 50W.
Connecting the WiFi Controller to the Network
- The WiFi modem complies with 802.11 b/g/n standards.
- The controller is compatible only with 2.4 GHz networks. Connection may fail if your 5 GHz network has the same name as the 2.4 GHz one.
- The controller does not support WiFi names and passwords longer than 20 characters.
- Access the settings menu by holding the button for 10 seconds.
- Navigate to "WIFI settings", then "SSID", and select your network.
- Enter the password and follow the wizard to connect.
- Refer to the "UKU Mobile App" section for further instructions.
UKU Mobile App
The UKU WiFi device can be controlled via a smartphone app, allowing remote sauna operation.
Download the HUUM application from your mobile phone's app store (iOS App Store or Android Google Play). Create a user account and link the control console's ID (found on the main module sticker) to your account.
Verify that all mobile app functions work correctly and commands reach the sauna within 60 seconds. If issues occur, contact the manufacturer at info@huumsauna.com.
Testing
NB! Have a qualified electrician perform tests.
WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Tests must be carried out while the power is on.
