8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller

Product Overview

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller offers advanced features and versatile connectivity for a superior gaming experience. This manual provides detailed instructions for setup, usage, and maintenance.

The controller features the following components:

Power Operations

Pairing with 2.4G Receiver

Follow the steps below to re-pair with the receiver:

  1. Turn the Mode switch (⚙️) to the 2.4G position.
  2. Press the Home button (?) to turn on the controller.
  3. Hold the Pair button (?) for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The Status LED (?) will start to blink rapidly.
  4. Connect the 2.4G Adapter (?) to the USB port of your Windows device.
  5. Wait for the controller to automatically pair with the receiver. The Status LED (?) will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

Connection Methods

Windows

System requirement: Windows 10 (1903) or above.

Wireless Connection

  1. Turn the Mode switch (⚙️) to the 2.4G position.
  2. Connect the 2.4G Adapter (?) to the USB port of your Windows device.
  3. Press the Home button (?) to turn on the controller.
  4. Wait until the controller is successfully recognized by the device.

Wired Connection

Connect the controller to your Windows device via a USB cable and wait until the controller is successfully recognized by the device.

SteamOS

System requirement: SteamOS 3.7.13 or above.

Bluetooth Connection

  1. Turn the Mode switch (⚙️) to the BT position.
  2. Press the Home button (?) to turn on the controller.
  3. Hold the Pair button (?) for 3 seconds to enter its pairing mode. The Status LED (?) will blink rapidly. (This is required for the very first time only)
  4. Go to your SteamOS device's "Bluetooth Setting" and turn it on, pair with "8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless". The Status LED (?) will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

Apple Devices

Bluetooth Connection

  1. Turn the Mode switch (⚙️) to the BT position.
  2. Press the Home button (?) to turn on the controller.
  3. Hold the Pair button (?) for 3 seconds to enter its pairing mode. The Status LED (?) will blink rapidly. (This is required for the very first time only)
  4. Go to your Apple device's "Bluetooth Setting" and turn it on, pair with "8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless". The Status LED (?) will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

Android Devices

System requirement: Android 13.0 or above.

Bluetooth Connection

  1. Turn the Mode switch (⚙️) to the BT position.
  2. Press the Home button (?) to turn on the controller.
  3. Hold the Pair button (?) for 3 seconds to enter its pairing mode. The Status LED (?) will blink rapidly. (This is required for the very first time only)
  4. Go to your Android device's "Bluetooth Setting" and turn it on, pair with "8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless". The Status LED (?) will remain solid to indicate a successful connection.

Controller Functions

Turbo Function

D-pad, Home button, and Left/Right Sticks (LS/RS) are not supported for turbo functionality.

Turbo settings are not saved permanently and will revert to default settings after the controller is powered off or disconnected.

The Mapping LED (?) will blink continuously when a configured button is pressed.

Turning on Turbo Mode

e.g.: Y + ⭐ (Hold Y, Press ⭐)

Result: Mapping LED blinks continuously.

Turning off Turbo Mode

e.g.: Y + ⭐ (Hold Y, Press ⭐)

Result: LED turns off.

Turning on Auto Turbo Mode

e.g.: Y + ⭐ (Hold Y, Press ⭐ twice)

Result: Mapping LED blinks continuously.

Turning off Auto Turbo Mode

e.g.: Y + ⭐ (Hold Y, Press ⭐ once)

Result: LED turns off.

L4/R4/PL/PR Buttons Configuration

Single or multiple buttons on the controller can be mapped to the L4/R4/PL/PR buttons.

LS/RS are not supported for mapping.

The Mapping LED (?) will blink continuously when the configured button is pressed.

Mapping to another button

e.g.: Hold L4 / R4 / PR / PL + Hold Y + Press ⭐

Result: Mapping LED blinks continuously.

Mapping to null (disable)

e.g.: Hold L4 / R4 / PR / PL + Hold Y + Press ⭐ + =

Result: Mapping LED blinks continuously.

Light Effects

Press the Star button (⭐) to cycle through the light effects:

  • Light-tracing Mode
  • Fire Ring Mode
  • Rainbow Ring Mode
  • Off

Brightness Control

Applicable only in Light-tracing mode and Rainbow Ring mode.

Press and hold the Star button (⭐) + D-pad up/down (⬆️/⬇️) to adjust the brightness.

⬆️: Increase brightness.

⬇️: Decrease brightness.

Color Options

Press and hold the Star button (⭐) + D-pad left/right (⬅️/➡️) to change the lighting color.

⬅️: Previous color.

➡️: Next color.

Speed Control

Applicable only in Fire Ring mode.

Press and hold the Star button (⭐) + D-pad up/down (⬆️/⬇️) to adjust the Fire Ring speed.

⬆️: Increase speed.

⬇️: Decrease speed.

Battery

Built-in 1000mAh battery pack.

Battery Status

Joystick/Trigger Calibration

Please follow the steps below:

  1. With the controller in the powered-off state, press and hold the LB + RB + Minus + Plus buttons for 8 seconds to enter the calibration mode. The Status LED (?) will blink.
  2. Push the joysticks to the edge and rotate them slowly 2-3 times.
  3. Slowly press the triggers to the bottom 2-3 times.
  4. Press the same LB + RB + Minus + Plus buttons combination again to complete the calibration.
