About K-Charge

K-Charge is an exclusive feature by Kia India Pvt. Ltd. (KIN), integrated into the MyKia app. It empowers users to effortlessly locate charging stations, navigate to them, access charging services, and make seamless payments – all within a single platform. This application is designed for both Kia and non-Kia electric vehicle (EV) customers.

The K-Charge process involves four key steps:

Locate: Find available charging stations.
Navigate: Get directions to your chosen station.
Charge: Initiate and manage your charging session.
Pay: Complete payments securely.

Boosting customer value through real-time charging station information, seamless payments, and integrated charge history management within the MyKia application.
Reducing range anxiety by enabling users to easily locate the nearest available EV chargers, complete with real-time availability updates.

K-Charge Coverage

Kia offers comprehensive PAN India coverage with K-Charge. The network spans 18 Charge Point Operators (CPOs), providing access to over 11,000 charging points nationwide. This includes more than 7,000 AC chargers and 4,000+ DC fast chargers to keep your EV moving.

Using K-Charge via the MyKia App

Let's explore the step-by-step process of using K-Charge within the MyKia app.

MyKia Homepage

The K-Charge icon is visible to all MyKia customers. EV customers can click this icon to proceed directly to the K-Charge landing page.

EV Stations

Users can tap on any station displayed on the map to view its details, which will be instantly highlighted in the list below.

Connectors

Users can select the charger type and compatible connector. The charger must be marked as 'Available' to proceed. Once selected, users can navigate directly to the station using the highlighted navigation icon. ?

Overview

This screen displays station details such as the full address, email, and contact information. Users can mark or unmark a station as a favorite, shortlist it, share station details, and copy the email address to paste anywhere. ⭐

Reviews

Users can select the charger type along with the compatible connector. The charger must be marked as 'Available' to proceed. Users can also read existing reviews and submit their own. ⭐

Charging Process

Initialization

Users need to select an 'Available' charger to view its details, including connector type, kWh capacity, and tariff. After clicking 'Proceed', the user is directed to the Charging Session screen.

Charging Session

On the Charging Session screen, users can choose from multiple charging options: Cost, Time, or Units. They can adjust the slider to set their preferred budget, charging duration, or energy units. ⚙️

Start Charging

Plug-in the Charger: As instructed, plug the charger into the vehicle and tap 'Okay' to continue. ✔️

Start Charging: Click the 'Start Charging' button. ▶️

Preparing the Charger: Once 'Okay' and 'Start' are tapped, the charger enters a preparation mode, taking approximately 1-1.5 minutes to retrieve all data.

Charging in Progress: On the 'Charging (Active Session)' screen, users can view real-time updates of consumed units and elapsed time. ⚡

Stop Charging

Confirmation: Users can stop charging by clicking the 'Yes' button. ❌

Session Summary: After charging concludes, the user is presented with the Charging Session Summary screen, detailing consumed units, time taken, and the total amount charged.

Details and Download Invoice: Customers can submit their review, select relevant feedback from a dropdown, and download the invoice by clicking the respective button. ?

Wallet Management

Users can manage their account balance through the Wallet feature. This includes viewing the existing balance and adding funds to proceed with transactions. The process involves adding the required balance to the payment page and completing the transaction, typically through internet banking. ?

Charging History & Favorites

The Charging History section allows users to view past transactions. Users can also mark their preferred charging stations as 'Favorites' for quick access. Stations can be removed from the favorites list using the 'Delete' option. ? ⭐

User Registration

New users can register for MyKia by providing their name, email, and mobile number, followed by OTP verification. Existing MyKia users can log in using their credentials or by verifying their mobile number via OTP.

Vehicle Addition

Prospects who haven't added a vehicle can do so by clicking the K-Charge icon, which opens the 'Add New Vehicle' screen. Here, they can enter the vehicle make, model, and registration number. Existing users can manage their vehicles by making one primary, deleting others, or adding new ones.

K-Charge Route Planner

The EV Route Planner is available for all EV customers, assisting in planning journeys with charging stops.

Route Planning Steps:

Route Planner Icon: Access the K-Charge home screen and tap the Route Planner icon. ?️
Home Screen: This navigates to the EV Route Planner homepage.
Source & Destination Selection: Select your starting point and destination. The app will then display a list of available chargers along your preferred route.
Filtering: Filter charging stations based on preferences such as charger type (AC/DC), capacity, connector type (CCS, Type-1, etc.), and CPO name. ?️
Adding Stops: Add charging stops along your selected route as needed.
Edit Trip Name: Customize the trip name according to your preference.
Start Trip: Click 'Begin Trip' to start your journey on the most optimized route.
Save Trip: Save the trip for future reference. ?

Charging Do's & Don'ts

The Kia Clavis EV supports DC fast charging for minimal downtime. Follow these guidelines for safe and efficient charging:

Do's

Always park your vehicle in the designated EV charging bay.
Use K-Charge via the MyKia App for the best charging experience.
Ensure the charging gun is securely connected to your vehicle.
Return the charging gun to its holder after use.
Press the charger's emergency stop button immediately in case of fire or smoke. ?
Keep the EV charging area clean and uncluttered.
Move your vehicle promptly once charging is complete to allow others to use the station.

Don'ts

Do not remove the cover from any charger component to avoid serious electrical hazards.
Avoid touching any live wires with bare hands.
Do not operate the charger with wet hands or if the connector is wet.
Keep inflammable liquids and hazardous materials away from the charging area.
Do not press the Emergency Stop button unless there's a real emergency.
Do not allow children to operate the charger.
Do not smoke near the charging station. ?

K-Charge is a platform of Kia India Pvt. Ltd. ("Kia") which assists and facilitates users to locate, access, and pay for EV charging services ("Services") offered by third-party Charging Point Operators (CPOs). Users hereby agree and acknowledge that all charging services are delivered by third-party CPOs. Kia only facilitates these Services and shall not be liable for service interruptions, equipment failures, or inaccuracies in availability/status provided by the CPOs, or for any other service provided by CPO's relating to EV Charging, including but not limited to any permanent or temporary functioning/damage to the Vehicle. Kia disclaims any liability for physical damage, safety incidents, or performance issues at third-party charging stations. Users are responsible for ensuring proper connection and safe charging practices as per guidelines provided by CPO's.
