Calibration
Generally, the Miter Gauge is ready out of the box. If calibration is needed, follow these steps:
- Release the fixed knob and handle: Loosen the handle counterclockwise, lift the metal knob, and rotate it 90 degrees to release.
- Set Index to Zero: With the locking pin engaged, adjust the miter gauge head to zero on the index point. [Image: Miter gauge head showing index point and locking mechanism]
- Square it Up: Place a square against the miter bar (1), then slide it against the face of the miter gauge (2). Set the miter gauge face to be 90 degrees to the miter bar. [Image: Diagram showing a square being used to check 90-degree alignment]
- Lock the knob mechanism and tighten: Tighten the handle to maintain the pan tilt position, then rotate the metal knob into the card slot. [Image: Hand tightening the miter gauge knob]
- Adjust The Plungershandle: Use a hex key wrench to push plungers outward or draw them inward to achieve the correct fit for your table saw slot. Comment: Do not over-extend plungers, as this can prevent smooth sliding and damage them. [Image: Hand using a hex key wrench to adjust plungers]
- Ready to Go: Your Miter Gauge is now calibrated and ready for use. [Image: Fully assembled VEVOR Table Saw Miter Gauge]
Aluminum Miter Fence Installation
Many miter gauges are pre-drilled to accept miter fences. Align bolts with holes and secure the fence using supplied bolts, washers, and T-knobs.
Why Use a Miter Fence?
Using a miter fence provides better support for your stock during cuts.
- Factory Miter Gauge: Shows a large unsupported gap between the blade and the gauge.
- Miter Gauge with fence: Shows the stock fully supported when using the fence.
Flip Stop Installation
The flip stop is ideal for repetitive length cuts. It slides into the top track of the aluminum fence and is secured with a T-knob.
Ensure your stock always contacts the flip stop on the outside of the arm for minimal play. The flip stop can be reversed if necessary by disassembling and reassembling the unit.
