SMT Disclaimer
Due to the complex nature of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components used in Yorkville equipment, service technicians are cautioned against attempting to repair or replace these factory-installed components. Many SMT components may be glued prior to soldering, and their replacement requires specialized, expensive de-soldering equipment and training. Yorkville Sound offers repair and replacement services for defective SMT components to maintain proper quality assurance.
Important Safety Instructions
Warning: This product contains uninsulated "dangerous voltage" that may pose a risk of electric shock. Do not remove covers. Refer servicing to qualified personnel. [high-voltage-warning]
Warning: Do not expose the apparatus to rain or moisture. Do not use near water.
Warning: Ensure proper ventilation. Do not install near heat sources.
Warning: Protect the power cord from damage. Do not operate if the cord is damaged. Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
Warning: Never defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. Ensure grounding is maintained.
Warning: Do not block ventilation openings.
Warning: Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories.
Warning: Keep line cords away from heat, water, and oil. Avoid tight knots in cords.
Warning: Do not stack vertically. [do-not-stack]
Caution: Hot surface. [caution-hot-surface]
Note: Not to be serviced by users. [service-by-qualified-personnel]
General Precautions: Read the owner's manual. Clean only with a dry cloth. Keep packaging for service returns. Follow all instructions and heed all warnings. [important-instructions]
Product Features
1. Input Jack
Female XLR connector accepting line-level XLR microphone cables. Balanced sources are recommended for best noise reduction.
2. Dual Link Outputs
Male XLR connectors for daisy-chaining up to 20 SA153 or SA315 cabinets without signal degradation. Connect from one cabinet's Link jack to the next's Input jack.
3. SA153 Level Control
Adjusts the SA153's volume relative to the input signal. Fine-tune cabinet volume to match mixer settings. Can be set above or below the center 0 dB setting. Useful for balancing volume in arrays or compensating for audience proximity.
4. Mode Switch (Sub/No Sub)
Configures the SA153 for use with or without a subwoofer. "No Sub" mode engages an internal 40 Hz high-pass filter. Engaging the switch with a subwoofer (e.g., SA315) aligns the internal filter with the subwoofer's response.
5. HF Adjust Selector
Sets the relative high-frequency level. In arrays, this control helps compensate for low-frequency coupling that can reduce treble. Setting it to the number of cabinets in the array ensures a flat system response. Also useful for distant audiences to overcome high-frequency loss.
6. Clip and Limit Indicators
Yellow Limit LED: Indicates limiters are reducing signal internally to prevent damage/distortion. Further input level increases will not significantly increase acoustic output. Red Clip LED: Indicates excessive input level (over 13V peak) causing severe distortion. Reduce source signal level.
7. Power Switch and Indicator
Green power LED illuminates when the power switch is ON and AC voltage is supplied.
8. PowerCON TRUE AC Loop Thru
Standard locking PowerCON TRUE inlet. An AC outlet allows power to be looped through to other cabinets in your array using a male-to-female PowerCON TRUE looping power cord. Check local dealer for accessory cord availability.
Important: Do not exceed the current rating of power/accessory cords. Refer to Owner's Manual for "Cascade Installation" details.
