Lifecycle phase change of ACS100/140/160 Frequency Converters

1. LIFECYCLE PHASE CHANGE

This document announces that the ACS100/140/160 frequency converter, hereafter the product, will be transferred to the limited phase of the ABB drives lifecycle model on January 1, 2009.

2. SUPPORT AVAILABILITY

In the limited phase the product is no more developed. New spare parts can be obtained as long as components and materials are available. Towards the end of the limited phase the use of refurbished and/or repaired parts increases.

The following product support and services are available:

  • Technical support
  • Spare part services

3. LIFECYCLE PLAN

ABB plans to support the product at least until the end of 2011, after which the product is planned to be transferred to the obsolete phase.

In the obsolete phase ABB can no more guarantee the availability of support, spare parts services. Spare parts are available as long as ABB does not run out of the spares stock or components can be obtained.

5. ABB LIFECYCLE MODEL

The ABB lifecycle model illustrates the progression of a product through different phases:

Lifecycle progression from Active to Obsolete.

Active: Product is released for sale.

Classic: Product manufacturing ceases. Guaranteed product support.

Limited: Guaranteed product support ceases. Limited product support.

Obsolete: Limited product support ceases.

This progression is marked by lifecycle announcements and annual lifecycle status reviews.
