Danfoss ESMT Outdoor Temperature Sensor
Installation and Connection Instructions
Model: ESMT
Product Overview
The Danfoss ESMT is a Pt 1000 outdoor temperature sensor designed for accurate environmental monitoring. This document provides instructions for its installation and electrical connection.
Mounting Instructions
The sensor should be mounted on the coldest elevation of the building or zone, typically the north-facing facade. This ensures the most accurate reading of ambient outdoor temperature.
Diagrams show the sensor labeled 'ESMT' mounted on a wall. A compass rose indicates North (N), South (S), East (E), and West (W), with North highlighted as the preferred mounting location.
Electrical Connection
The ESMT sensor uses a two-wire, non-polarized connection. The polarity of the wires does not matter and they can be crossed. The recommended connection cable size is 2 x 0.4 mm² to 1.5 mm².
Diagrams illustrate the sensor's terminal block, labeled 'PT 1000'. Arrows show how to insert the two wires into the terminals. A label 'Pg 9' indicates a cable gland or entry point.
Temperature vs. Resistance (Pt 1000)
A line graph displays the relationship between temperature (in degrees Celsius, °C) on the x-axis and resistance (in Ohms, Ω) on the y-axis for a Pt 1000 sensor. The x-axis ranges from -30°C to 180°C. The y-axis ranges from 900 Ω to 1700 Ω. The graph shows a linear increase in resistance as temperature rises, characteristic of a Pt 1000 sensor.
