GETTING STARTED

Charging Unit Prior to First Use

A user-supplied USB charger (USB Type-A, Rated Output: 5.0 VDC, 1.0 A) is required. Plug the USB charger into a wall outlet and connect the charging cable to the charger and the magnetic charger to the unit. Charge for approximately 8 hours. The charge indicator on the handle flashes while charging and turns off when fully charged. A full charge lasts up to 4 weeks of typical use. When the battery is low (approx. 30% charge remaining), the indicator light blinks 3 times quickly. A complete recharge takes 8 hours. Leaving the charger connected after full charge will not damage the battery.

Filling the Reservoir

Disconnect the magnetic charging cable before filling or using the unit. Lift the flip-top reservoir and fill with lukewarm water.

Inserting and Removing Tips

Insert the tip into the center of the knob at the top of the handle. Press firmly until it clicks into place. To remove, press the tip eject button and pull the tip out.

CAUTION: Do not press the tip eject button while the unit is running.

Adjusting the Pressure Setting

Adjust the pressure by pressing the mode button on the handle. Start with the lowest setting and increase as desired.

Recommended Technique

Lean over a sink, place the tip in your mouth, and aim towards the gumline. Turn the unit ON. For best results, start with back teeth and move towards front teeth. Glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth. Clean the inside and outside of both upper and lower teeth. Direct the jet stream at a 90-degree angle to your gumline. Close lips slightly to avoid splashing, but allow water to flow from your mouth into the sink. Keep the unit upright during use.

When Finished

Turn the unit off. Empty any remaining liquid from the reservoir. The reservoir can be removed by sliding the reservoir release latch to the unlock position and then sliding the reservoir down towards the base of the unit.

Tip Usage Details

Pik Pocket™ Tip

Designed to deliver water or anti-bacterial solutions deep into periodontal pockets. Set the unit to the lowest pressure. Place the soft tip against a tooth at a 45-degree angle and gently place the tip under the gumline, into the pocket.

Tongue Cleaner Tip

Set to the lowest pressure. Place the tip in the center/middle of your tongue about halfway back. Pull forward with light pressure, increasing pressure as preferred.

Orthodontic Tip

Gently glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly to lightly brush the area between teeth and around orthodontic brackets before proceeding to the next tooth.

Toothbrush Tip

Place the tip in your mouth with the brush head on the tooth at the gumline. Use with or without toothpaste. Apply light pressure (bristles should not bend) and massage back and forth with very short strokes, similar to a manual toothbrush.

Plaque Seeker™ Tip

Place the tip close to teeth so bristles gently touch them. Gently glide tip along gumline, pausing briefly between teeth to brush and allow water to flow between teeth.

Water Spill Over Protection

When traveling, insert the travel plug into the unit to prevent excess water from draining. Do NOT run the unit while the travel plug is inserted.

CLEANING AND TROUBLESHOOTING

Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions

The Waterpik® Water Flosser can be used with mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. To add solutions, remove the reservoir and add from the top opening. If adding water, replace the reservoir and fill through the fill door. After using any special solution, rinse the unit by filling the reservoir with warm water and running the unit with the tip pointed into a sink until empty to prevent clogging.

Cleaning

Never immerse the unit in water. Unplug from the electrical outlet before cleaning. Clean the exterior with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleanser. The water reservoir is removable for easy cleaning and is top-rack dishwasher safe (turn off heat cycle). It is recommended to clean the reservoir weekly.

Removing Hard Water Deposits / General Cleaning

Hard water deposits may build up depending on water mineral content, hindering performance. To clean internal parts: add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to a full reservoir of warm water. Point the handle and tip into a sink. Turn the unit ON and run until the reservoir is empty. Rinse by repeating with a full reservoir of clean warm water. Perform this process every 1 to 3 months for optimal performance.

Battery Removal

This product contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. For environmental protection, do not dispose of with household waste. Dispose of or recycle according to local regulations. Contact local waste administrative departments for questions. If disposing the battery yourself, discharge it fully before removal. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (goggles, gloves) before attempting removal.
