Recommended Technique:
- Lean low over a sink and place the tip in your mouth.
- Aim the tip toward the gumline and turn the unit ON (I).
- For best results, start with the back teeth and work toward the front teeth.
- Glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth.
- Continue until you have cleaned the inside and outside of both the upper and lower teeth.
- Direct the jet stream at a 90-degree angle to your gumline.
- Slightly close your lips to avoid splashing, but allow water to flow freely from your mouth into the sink.
- Keep the unit upright during use for best results.
When Finished:
- Turn the unit off.
- Empty any remaining liquid from the reservoir.
- To Remove Reservoir: Slide the reservoir release latch to the unlock position (labeled '1') and then slide the reservoir down towards the base of the unit (labeled '2').

Troubleshooting Your Waterpik® Water Flosser
Tip Usage:
- Pik Pocket® Tip: Designed to deliver water or antibacterial solutions deep into periodontal pockets. Use the lowest pressure setting. Place the soft tip against a tooth at a 45-degree angle. Gently place the tip under the gumline into the pocket. Turn the unit on and trace along the gumline.
- Tongue Cleaner Tip: Use the lowest pressure setting. Place the tip in the center/middle of your tongue, about halfway back. Turn on the Water Flosser. Pull forward with light pressure. Increase pressure as desired.
- Orthodontic Tip: Gently glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly to lightly brush the area between teeth and around orthodontic brackets before proceeding to the next tooth.
- Toothbrush Tip: Place the toothbrush tip in your mouth with the brush head on the tooth at the gumline. It can be used with or without toothpaste. Turn the Water Flosser on so water flows through the tip. Use light pressure (bristles should not bend) and massage back and forth with very short strokes, similar to using a manual toothbrush.
- Plaque Seeker® Tip: Place the tip close to the teeth so the bristles gently touch them. Gently glide the tip along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth to gently brush and allow water to flow between the teeth.
Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions:
Your Waterpik Water Flosser can be used to deliver mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. After using any special solution, rinse the unit to prevent clogging. To rinse, partially fill the reservoir with warm water and run the unit with the tip pointed into the sink until the unit is empty.
Cleaning:
- Never immerse the unit in water.
- Before cleaning, unplug the product from the electrical outlet.
- Clean the product when necessary by using a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to wipe the exterior.
- The water reservoir is removable for easy cleaning and is top-rack dishwasher safe. It is recommended that the reservoir be removed and cleaned weekly.
