Precautions
- Please read this manual carefully before using, and keep it well for future reference.
- Before cleaning the display, please unplug the USB cable and wipe with a soft damp cloth. Do not use any kind of detergents.
- Do not expose this product to water or other liquids. Take care to never spill liquids onto the pen display, digital pen, power cable, or power adapter.
- Do not place the pen display or digital pen on an unstable surface or at a height.
- Do not place the tablet where children can easily reach it to avoid danger.
- Do not place the display and digital pen close to a magnetic field.
- The grooves and holes on the back case are designed for ventilation to prevent the monitor from overheating. Please do not place the display on beds, sofas, carpets, or in embedded devices.
- Only power supplies shown on the nameplate can be used for the display. If you have questions about the power supply you are using, please consult the distributor of your display.
- To protect your display, please switch off the power when it is not in use. During blackouts or when not using for a long time, please unplug the display from the socket.
- Do not overload the socket or lengthen the power wire, which may lead to electric shocks.
- Make sure no foreign bodies get inside the monitor through grooves and prevent liquid from splashing on the display to prevent short-circuit or fire.
- If the display has a breakdown, do not open the main case and try to repair it by yourself. Please ask for service for proper repair and maintenance.
- When the following situations occur, please unplug the power adapter and you may need a service for full repair and maintenance:
- A. The power wire or plug is damaged or worn out;
- B. There is liquid splashed inside of the display;
- C. The display has fallen or the LCD is broken;
- D. When obvious abnormalities occur to the display.
- When getting components replaced, you are supposed to guarantee that the repairman is using the substitute components specified by the manufacturer. Unauthorized component replacement might cause fire, electric shocks, or other dangers.
1. Product Overview
1.1 Product Introduction
Thanks for choosing GAOMON® PD1561 graphics display. This is a new generation of portable desktop-level professional drawing display, which can greatly improve your work efficiency of painting and creation, and is full of fun. You can freely paint and write, depicting different lines and colors, just as the pen writes on paper, which brings you a real shock experience.
To give you a better understanding and using of your display, please read this user manual carefully. The user manual only shows the information under Windows. Unless otherwise specified, this information applies to both Windows and Macintosh systems.
1.2 Product and Accessories
1.2.1 Pen Display
The pen display features OSD buttons, an LED indicator, shortcut keys, and a working area.
1.2.2 Stylus Pen
The stylus pen is a digital pen with 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and two customized buttons. It has an upper button, a lower button, and a pen nib.
1.2.3 3-in-2 Connection Cable
The connection cable includes Mini HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and Power connectors.
1.2.4 Power Adapter
Please choose the right plug according to your country or region and assemble it to the power adapter. (It may not come with all the plugs)
1.2.6 Accessories
The package includes: Stylus Pen, Power Adapter, Replacement Nibs (inside the pen holder), Pen Holder (integrated with nib clip), and Quick Start Guide.
1.3 Display Connection
- Connect your PC and the display with the integrated cable.
- Plug the power adapter into the cable's power connector and turn it 90° to ensure the plug does not come off. Connect the power adapter to the power source.
- Turn on the computer and switch on the display. The LED indicator will show the current status: Green means working normally, Red means no signal.
1.4 Driver Installation
1.4.1 OS Support
Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.12 or later
1.4.2 Install via Download
Please download the driver from the website: www.gaomon.net/download/. After finishing installation, you can find the grey driver icon ⚙️ in the system tray area, which means the driver was installed successfully. When you connect the tablet to the computer, the icon will become orange ⚙️, which means the driver has recognized the tablet and you can start using it.
Notice:
- Before installing, you need to uninstall other drivers of similar products, including the old driver of this product.
- Before installing, please close all graphics software and anti-virus software to avoid unnecessary mistakes.
1.5 Pen Nib Replacement
- The nib will wear out after long-term use, so you need to replace it with a new one.
- Anticlockwise rotate the holder to open the cover, then take a new nib out.
- Insert the pen nib into the bottom hole and tilt the pen to pull out the nib.
- Insert the new nib into the pen and push it straight until it stops.
2. OSD Setting
The OSD buttons allow you to adjust screen settings:
- AUTO: Before entering the menu, its function is auto adjustment. After entering the menu, its function is to return to the previous menu.
- -: After entering the menu, its function is to move down/left/decrease.
- +: After entering the menu, its function is to move up/right/increase.
- MENU: Press to call up the menu. After entering the menu, its function is to confirm.
- POWER: Powers the display on/off.
Remark: Through the OSD menu, you can adjust the screen brightness, contrast, color, and other parameters.
3. Function Setting
3.1 Device Connection Prompt
The driver interface indicates the connection status:
- No Device Detected: The computer does not recognize the tablet.
- Device connected: The computer has recognized the pen display.
3.2 Working Area Setting
3.2.1 Using Multiple Monitors
The cursor's location depends on the screen mode you chose when connecting the pen display to an external display (e.g., laptop or all-in-one PC).
- Duplicate Mode: The pen display and the external display show the same picture, and the cursor is displayed on each monitor simultaneously.
- Extend Mode: You need to choose the monitor on the driver interface to decide the cursor location.
When the cursor location is decided, you can map the working area on the driver interface.
3.2.2 Working Area Setting
Define the tablet area that will be mapped to the screen area:
- Full Area: The entire active area of the tablet. This is the default setting.
- Custom Area: Drag the corners of the foreground graphic to select the screen area.
3.2.3 Rotate Working Area
By changing the direction of the pen display to provide more choices for users. Four directions are available: 0°, 90°, 180°, 270°.
3.2.4 Express Keys Function Setting
- Default Setting: Place the cursor on the shortcut key or click the express key to find the default values.
- Customized Setting: Select the function to be achieved on the pop-up dialog box, and it will be saved automatically.
- Enable/Disable Express Keys: Check/Uncheck "Enable Express Keys".
3.3 Pen Buttons Function Setting
Customized Setting: Select the function to be achieved on the pop-up dialog box, and it will be saved automatically.
3.4 Pressure Sensitivity Setting
The pressure sensitivity can be changed by dragging the points of the pressure curve.
- Drag the points to the upper left for higher sensitivity.
- Drag the points to the lower right for lower sensitivity.
3.5 Pen Pressure Testing
You can gradually apply pressure to the stylus on the screen to test the pressure level. The pressure test area shows the pressure level from 0 to 8191.
3.6 Calibration
- Screen Calibration: Click the red cross on the screen to complete calibration.
- Factory Reset: Click 'Factory Reset' to reset the pen display.
- Cancel Calibration: Click 'Cancel Calibration' or press 'ESC' to stop the calibration.
3.7 Enable the Windows Ink Feature
This function is for software that supports Windows Ink, such as Microsoft Office, Windows Journal, Adobe Photoshop CC, SketchBook 6, and so on. Ensure the "Enable Windows Ink" checkbox is selected.
3.8 Mouse Mode (Only for specific models)
Check the checkbox in front of "Mouse Mode" to enable it. In mouse mode, when you move the pen, the cursor moves following the relative coordinate principle, similar to moving the cursor with a mouse. This means you can click icons or select options at the edge of the screen without moving the pen to the edge of the working area.
3.9 Customize Express Keys and Pressure Curve
You can customize the function of press keys and the pressure curve for different programs. Select a program, customize the function of Express keys, and adjust the pressure curve; the settings will be automatically saved.
3.10 Data Export and Import
The driver supports exporting and importing your custom configuration data for the product, which is convenient for you to use with different software and avoids the trouble of repeated settings. The backup includes all settings of the device. You can restore these settings on any computer.

5. Trouble Shooting
5.1 Possible Breakdowns Related to DISPLAY

5.2 Possible Breakdowns Related to FUNCTIONS

GAOMON driver indicates "device connected", but the pen doesn't respond in Mac OS 10.14 or above versions.
