Product Overview and Intended Use
The Basic Temp (DT-01B) is a digital thermometer designed for measuring body temperature. It is suitable for clinical (healthcare) and home use, as well as for oral, axillary, and rectal measurements. Any use other than specified is considered improper use.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for accurate temperature measurement:
- Disinfect the probe with a cloth dampened with water or an alcohol-water solution before and after each use.
- Press the ON/OFF button. The display will show "188.8 °C" for about 3 seconds, followed by a flashing "L °C", indicating the thermometer is ready.
- During measurement, the temperature value will increase on the display.
- The thermometer will emit 4 beep sounds ? when the measurement is complete (temperature stabilized for 16 seconds).
- Switch off the unit by pressing the ON/OFF button to prolong battery life. The unit will automatically switch off after approximately 10 minutes of non-usage.
Measurement Methods:
- Oral Usage: Keep mouth closed for at least 1 minute before measurement. Place the probe under the tongue, close mouth. Measurement duration: 50–70 seconds. Oral temperature is approximately 0.3–0.8 °C lower than rectal measurement.
- Axillary Usage: Dry the skin under the armpit. Ensure the probe is in perfect contact with the skin. Measurement duration: 80–120 seconds. For more accurate results, extend measurement to approximately 5 minutes, despite the beep. Axillary temperature is approximately 0.5–1.5 °C lower than rectal measurement.
- Rectal Usage: Insert the probe into the rectum approximately 2 cm deep. Measurement duration: 40–60 seconds. Rectal measurement is considered the most accurate as it reflects internal body temperature.
Record the temperature and time after each measurement. The last measured value is automatically stored in memory.
Memory Function
The last measured temperature is automatically stored. It can be viewed by switching the thermometer off and on again immediately after the "L °C" display. Subsequent measurements will overwrite the stored value.
Maintenance
Clean the thermometer before and after each use with a soft cloth dampened with water or an alcohol-water solution (70% ethanol or isopropyl). Store the thermometer in its plastic case. The thermometer is not waterproof; never immerse it in water or other liquids.
Battery Replacement
When the LCD displays the ? symbol in the bottom right corner, the battery needs replacement.
- Remove the colored end cap.
- Use a non-metal pointed object (e.g., a pen) to remove the old battery.
- Insert a new 1.5V LR41 battery, observing correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover.
Notes on handling batteries:
- Keep batteries out of children's reach.
- If a battery leaks, wear protective gloves and clean the compartment with a dry cloth.
- Protect batteries from heat.
- Never throw batteries into fire.
- Do not charge or short-circuit batteries.
- Remove batteries if the device is not used for a long period.
- Use only identical or equivalent battery types. Replace all batteries simultaneously. Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Do not attempt to open or mechanically damage batteries.
