Technology that Delivers Next-Level Comfort
Unlike conventional gas furnaces where the combustion heat exchanger is in the conditioned airstream, the NPF heats water by burning gas in a sealed combustion heat exchanger, completely isolated from the airstream. This heated water is then pumped through a hydronic heat exchanger that gently transfers heat into the air. This unique method provides:
- Improved operational control
- Safe and even heating
- Minimized operating sounds
- Less impact on conditioned air humidity levels due to lower air temperatures.

Conventional Furnace: Combustion heat exchanger is directly in the conditioned airstream, exposing air to high temperatures.
Navien NPF Hydro-Furnace: Our unique hydronic forced-air heating design keeps combustion in a separate, fully enclosed compartment for safe and quiet comfort.
The NPF features a durable stainless steel combustion heat exchanger located out of the airstream. A hydronic coil transfers heat from the water to the conditioned airstream at temperatures up to 150°F.

Quieter Operation
The NPF is one of the quietest furnaces in the industry, achieved through isolated combustion (outside the airstream), variable capacity operation, and intelligent blower ramping. Sound pressure levels are significantly lower compared to common household appliances.

Our patented heat exchanger and hydronic coil gently heat the airstream, providing safe, even heating for a softer feel.

The NPF is designed with the environment in mind, featuring high-efficiency ECM motor technology, 97% AFUE, and ultra-low NOx compliance. It qualifies for most regional incentives, lowers energy bills, and can potentially boost air conditioning and heat pump system efficiencies. Complies with SCAQMD Rule 1111.

The NPF's intelligent Variable Capacity System operates at 15%-100% capacity, optimizing air temperatures and airflow for maximum comfort and energy efficiency. NPF Variable Capacity Control System: Advanced Comfort for All Seasons
- Summer: When paired with an AC or HP system, the variable capacity blower can be customized for a comfortable, quiet cooling experience.
- Fall: As heating season begins and outside temperatures drop, variable capacity allows the NPF to operate at a minimum range to comfortably heat the home.
- Winter: As the temperature keeps dropping, the NPF compensates for greater heat loss with increased output.
- Spring: Even during cold, rainy days, the NPF's industry-leading variable capacity will automatically adjust to keep the space warm and comfortable.
