Terminals
The multimeter features input jacks for various measurements. Jack indication lights guide the user to insert test leads correctly.
- 10A Jack: Input terminal for measuring AC/DC current up to 10A.
- mA Jack: Input terminal for measuring AC/DC current up to 600mA.
- COM Jack: Common (return) terminal for all measurements.
- Live/DC/AC Voltage, V, Hz, %C/F Jack: Input terminal for measuring voltage, continuity, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and testing diodes.
Making Measurements
When connecting test leads, connect the common (COM) lead first, then the live lead. When disconnecting, remove the live lead first, then the common lead.
Warnings
- Do not measure voltages higher than 1000V DC or 750V AC.
- Exercise caution when measuring high voltages.
- Test the meter with a known voltage or current before use to confirm proper operation.
SMART (AUTO) Measurement Mode
The meter defaults to SMART mode, which automatically detects and selects the range for DC voltage, AC voltage, resistance, and continuity measurements.
- Turn on the meter by pressing and holding the power button (⏻) for approximately 2 seconds. The screen will display 'Auto' and the pointer will move, indicating SMART mode.
- Insert the red probe into the appropriate jack (e.g., VΩHz%°C/F) and the black probe into the 'COM' jack.
- Touch the test leads together. A beep and indicator light confirm normal operation (used for continuity check).
Measurement in SMART Mode:
- Voltage AC/DC: Connect the test leads across the circuit. The meter automatically detects AC or DC voltage. When measuring AC voltage, the frequency is displayed. When measuring DC voltage, the ambient temperature is displayed.
- Resistance: Connect the test leads across the resistance (in parallel). If the resistance is less than 50Ω, the meter will beep and the indicator light will turn on.
Note:
- Minimum measurable voltage in SMART mode: AC: 0.5V, DC: 0.8V.
MANUAL Measurement Mode
Press the 'AUTO FUNC' button to switch from SMART mode to MANUAL mode. Press the button again to cycle through the available measurement functions.
AC/DC Voltage Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' until the '― V' symbol and 'V' signal are displayed for DC voltage measurement.
- Press 'SEL' to switch to AC voltage measurement, indicated by '∼ V' and 'V' signals.
Note:
- Frequency is displayed during AC voltage measurement.
- Ambient temperature is displayed during DC voltage measurement.
- Do not use AC function for DC voltage and vice versa.
- Do not measure voltages exceeding 1000V DC or 750V AC.
Resistance Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' until the 'Ω' symbol is displayed for resistance measurement.
Note:
- Do not change resistance while measuring.
- Avoid measuring parallel circuits as it affects accuracy.
- Do not directly measure the internal resistance of instruments like micrometers, galvanometers, or batteries.
Continuity Test
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the continuity measurement mode (indicated by a sound symbol ∼).
- Connect the test leads to the circuit. If the resistance is less than 50Ω and the circuit is live, the buzzer will sound, and the indicator light will illuminate. The measured resistance value will be displayed.
Diode Test
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the diode test mode (indicated by a diode symbol ⌫).
- Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
- If connected in reverse polarity, '[ ]' will be displayed. A forward voltage drop will be displayed for a good diode.
Capacitance Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the capacitance measurement mode (indicated by 'nF' or '⌂' symbol).
Note:
- Discharge the capacitor before and after measurement to avoid damage and safety hazards.
- A significantly different reading from the marked value indicates a damaged capacitor.
- Large capacitance values may require a longer time for readings to stabilize.
AC/DC mV Voltage Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the mV measurement mode (indicated by '㎕―' for DC mV or '㎕∼' for AC mV).
- Press 'SEL' to switch between AC and DC mV measurements.
Note:
- Frequency is displayed during AC mV measurement.
- Ambient temperature is displayed during DC mV measurement.
- Do not use AC function for DC mV and vice versa.
- Do not measure voltages exceeding 1000V DC or 750V AC.
Frequency/Duty Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the Frequency/Duty Ratio mode (indicated by 'Hz %' symbols).
Temperature Measurement
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Insert the K-type thermocouple probes into the appropriate jacks (positive to 'VΩHz%°C/F', negative to 'COM').
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the temperature mode (indicated by 'C' or 'F').
- Touch the thermocouple tip to the object being measured. Allow a few seconds for the reading to stabilize.
Note:
- When not in contact with an object, the meter displays the ambient temperature.
Non-contact AC Voltage Detection (NCV)
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select the NCV mode (indicated by 'NCV').
- Bring the NCV sensor near the point to be tested.
- When voltage is detected, the indicator light will illuminate, and the unit will beep.
Signal Strength Indication:
- Weak Signal: Green indicator, slow beep, '--L' displayed.
- Strong Signal: Red indicator, fast beep, '--H' displayed.
Live Wire Detecting
- Ensure the meter is on and test leads are connected correctly.
- Press 'AUTO FUNC' to select 'NCV/Live' mode.
- Press 'SEL' to display the 'LIVE' symbol.
- Insert the red probe into the 'VΩHz%°C/F' jack and remove the black probe.
- Touch the test lead point to the object under test.
Live Wire Indication:
- Indicator light and buzzer indicate the presence of a live wire.
- Weak Signal: Green indicator, slow beep, '--L' displayed (may indicate incomplete connection).
- Strong Signal: Red indicator, fast beep, '--H' displayed.
Ampere (A) Current Measurement
Warning: Do not measure current exceeding 10A in this gear to avoid blowing the fuse.
- Ensure the meter is on.
- Insert the red probe into the '10A' jack and the black probe into the 'COM' jack. The meter automatically selects the 'A' gear.
- 'DC A' or 'AC A' will be displayed for DC or AC current measurement, respectively. Press 'SEL' to switch between AC and DC.
Note:
- Frequency is displayed during AC current measurement; ambient temperature during DC current measurement.
- A 'LEAD' signal and red indicator light appear if test leads are connected incorrectly to the 10A jack.
- The meter automatically enters current testing mode when probes are inserted into the 10A and COM jacks. Function switching is disabled in this mode.
- The meter beeps regularly as a reminder for current testing.
- Measure current for no more than 15 seconds at a time.
mA Current Measurement
Warning: Do not measure current exceeding 600mA in this gear to avoid blowing the fuse.
- Ensure the meter is on.
- Insert the red probe into the 'mA' jack and the black probe into the 'COM' jack. The meter automatically selects the 'mA' gear.
- 'DC mA' or 'AC mA' will be displayed for DC or AC current measurement, respectively. Press 'SEL' to switch between AC and DC.
Note:
- Frequency is displayed during AC current measurement; ambient temperature during DC current measurement.
- A 'LEAD' signal and red indicator light appear if test leads are connected incorrectly to the mA jack.
- The meter automatically enters current testing mode when probes are inserted into the mA and COM jacks. Function switching is disabled in this mode.
- The meter beeps regularly as a reminder for current testing.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Turn off the meter and remove test leads.
- Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Ensure terminals are clean and dry.
Install Batteries
- Remove test leads and the outer rubber case.
- Remove the screw under the flashlight to access the battery compartment.
- Install 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Replace the battery door, tighten the screw, and reinstall the rubber case.
Replace Fuses
If the '□' symbol is displayed, the fuse is blown, and the current measurement function will not work. Replace the fuse with the correct type:
- mA Fuse: F600mA/250V (Size: φ6x32mm)
- A Fuse: F10A/250V (Size: φ6x32mm)
To replace fuses:
- Turn off the meter and remove test leads.
- Remove the outer rubber case.
- Remove the screw under the flashlight to access the battery compartment.
- Remove the screws securing the case cover.
- Carefully remove the cover to access the fuses.
- Replace the blown fuse with a new one of the correct rating.
- Reassemble the meter, ensuring all screws are tightened and the rubber case is properly fitted.
