Mounting and Wiring the Light
Follow these steps for installation:
- Turn OFF power to the circuit breaker box. DO NOT rely on only the wall switch being turned OFF.
- Install the cross bar to the junction box and secure with the two mounting screws. If installing to a wall or building, pre-drill holes and use appropriate plugs/anchors, then install the cross bar using the mounting screws.
- On the cross bar, locate the ground (GND) position and attach the grounding wire with the grounding screw.
- Use a wire nut to connect the grounding wire to the house ground wire (typically copper). Twist the wire nut clockwise until tight.
- Connect supply wires with wire nuts. Connect the BLACK product wire to the BLACK power supply wire (Live). Connect the WHITE product wire to the WHITE supply wire (Neutral).
- You may use the optional gasket at this time to seal for moisture.
- Install the light fixture to the cross bar. Use silicone sealant (not included) around the perimeter of the light to seal for moisture.
- Screw in the stainless steel screw to hold the fixture in place. Insert the plastic screw cover into the screw hole.
- Turn ON your electricity after installation is completed.
- Turn ON the power switch. If the power switch is not on, the light will NOT cycle ON or OFF.
Wiring Diagram Description:
Shows connections: 'White to White' and 'Black to Black'. A separate note indicates: 'Junction box ground wire to green ground screw on fixture'.
Adjusting Your Light Heads
Your light heads can be adjusted by turning the individual light head to the desired position. You can also adjust your light heads up and down to your desired position.
Diagram Description: Light Head Adjustment
Illustrates adjustable light heads. Arrows indicate 350° rotation and 60° tilt adjustment for individual light heads.
WARNING
Risk of fire. DO NOT aim the bulbs at a combustible surface within 3 ft (1m).
Adjusting Your Motion Sensor
Your sensor head can be adjusted by turning it to cover the desired detection area. You can also adjust your sensor head up and down to set your detection distance.
Diagram Description: Sensor Head Adjustment and Sensitivity
Shows sensor head adjustment with labels for Pan (left 170° / right 170°) and Tilt (up 0° / down 60°). A visual scale indicates motion sensitivity from 'Least Sensitive' to 'Most Sensitive'.
Diagram Description: Sensor Range and Mounting
Illustrates sensor detection range. A top view shows a 180° detection angle. A side view shows a maximum detection range of 50 feet (15m). The recommended mounting height is 6-10 feet. A caution note advises to keep the sensor at least 2 inches (51 mm) away from the lamps.
CAUTION
Keep the sensor at least 2" (51 mm) away from the lamps.
REMINDER: If the fixture is mounted higher than 8 ft (2.4m), aiming the sensor down will reduce coverage distance. The detector is less sensitive to motion directly towards it.
Installation (Sensor Focus)
For easy installation, select an existing light operated by a wall switch for replacement. For better performance, mount the fixture about 8 ft (2.4m) above the ground. If the fixture is mounted higher than 8 ft (2.4m), aiming the sensor down will reduce coverage distance.
Setting the Motion Sensor
Sensor Detection Range: 50 ft
Detection Angle: 180°
Diagram Description: Sensor Detection Range and Time Settings
Shows controls for 'LUX' and 'ON TIME'. The LUX setting has three positions: Night (darkest), Dusk (medium), and Day (lightest). The ON TIME setting offers durations of 5 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 12 minutes.
Time Setting
This setting controls the time span of how long your security light will remain ON. Slide the switch to the desired time duration (refer to the SENSOR DETECTION RANGE section for dial locations on the motion detector).
LUX Setting
The LUX setting controls when the light will turn ON, based on the amount of ambient light needed. The LUX setting is marked by a sun (for lighter conditions) and a moon (for darker conditions). To adjust the light to come ON when it is darker outside, slide the switch to "L". To adjust for dusk, slide to "M". To adjust for lighter conditions, slide to "H".
Avoid Aiming the Control At:
- Objects that change temperature rapidly, such as heating vents and air conditioners, as these heat sources could cause false triggering.
- Areas where pets or traffic may trigger the control.
- Nearby large, light-colored objects reflecting light, which may trigger the shut-off feature. DO NOT point other lights at the sensor.
REMINDER
The sensor has a 1-1/2 minute warm-up period before it will detect motion. When first turned ON, wait for 1-1/2 minutes.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Lights will not come on:
- Light switch is turned OFF.
- Light is loose or burned out.
- Fuse is blown or circuit breaker is turned OFF.
- Daylight turnoff is in effect (double-check after dark).
- Incorrect circuit wiring (if this is a new installation).
- Re-aim the sensor to cover the desired area.
Lights stay ON continuously:
- A lamp is positioned too close to the sensor or pointed at nearby objects that cause heat to trigger the sensor (reposition the lamp away from the sensor or nearby objects).
- Light control is pointed toward a heat source like an air vent, dryer vent, or brightly-painted heat reflective surface (Reposition sensor, reduce range).
Lights come on for no apparent reason:
- Light control may be sensing small animals or automobile traffic (re-aim the sensor).
- Range is set too high (reduce range setting).
Lights come on in daylight:
- Light control may be installed in a relatively dark location.
Lights flash ON and OFF:
- Heat or light from the lamps may be turning the light control ON and OFF (Reposition the lamps away from the sensor).
- Heat being reflected from other objects may be affecting the sensor (Reposition sensor).
MAINTENANCE
To clean the surface of the light, use mild soap and water. DO NOT use scouring pads, powders, steel wool, or any other abrasive materials. DO NOT immerse in water.
