Parts List (Diagram Description):
The installation diagram shows the following components:
- Light Fixture (A)
- Plastic Cover (B)
- Stainless Steel Screw (C)
- Gasket (D) (optional)
- Cross Bar (E)
- Grounding Screw (F)
- Grounding Wire (G)
- Wire nut (H) (Quantity: 3)
- Stainless Steel Mounting Screws (I) (Quantity: 2)
Mounting and Wiring the Light:
Step 1: Turn OFF power to the circuit breaker box. Do not rely solely on the wall switch.
Step 2: Install the cross bar (E) to the junction box using the (2) mounting screws (I). If mounting to a wall or building, pre-drill holes and use appropriate plugs/anchors, then secure the cross bar with the (2) mounting screws (I).
Step 3: On the cross bar, locate GND and attach the ground wire (G) with the grounding screw (F).
Step 4: Connect the grounding wire (G) to the house ground wire using a wire nut (H). Twist clockwise until tight.
Step 5: Connect supply wires using wire nuts (H). Connect the BLACK supply wire to the BLACK power supply wire (Live). Connect the WHITE product wire to the WHITE supply wire (Neutral).
Step 6: You may use the optional gasket (D) at this time.
Step 7: Install the light fixture (A) to the cross bar (E). Use silicone sealant (not included) around the perimeter to seal for moisture.
Step 8: Screw in the stainless steel screw (C) to hold the fixture in place. Insert the plastic screw cover (B) into the screw hole.
Step 9: Turn ON your electricity after installation is complete.
Step 10: Turn ON the power switch. The light will NOT cycle ON or OFF if the switch is off.
Adjusting Light Heads and Sensor
Adjusting Your Light Heads
Light heads can be adjusted individually to a desired position. They can also be adjusted up and down.
WARNING: Risk of fire. DO NOT aim bulbs at a combustible surface within 3 ft (1m).
Adjusting Your Motion Sensor
The sensor head can be adjusted to set the detection area and distance.
Sensor Head Adjustments:
- Pan: Left 170° / Right 170°
- Tilt: Up 0° / Down 60°
REMINDER: If the fixture is mounted higher than 8 ft (2.4m), aiming the sensor down will reduce coverage distance. The detector is less sensitive to motion directly towards it.
Installation for Optimal Performance
For easy installation, replace an existing light operated by a wall switch. For better performance, mount the fixture about 8 ft (2.4m) above the ground. If mounted higher than 8 ft (2.4m), aiming the sensor down will reduce coverage distance.
CAUTION: Keep the sensor at least 2" (51 mm) away from the lamps.
Setting the Motion Sensor
Detection Range: 50 ft (approx. 15m)
Detection Angle: 180°
Sensor Detection Range Controls:
The sensor has controls for LUX (ambient light sensitivity) and ON TIME (duration the light stays on).
- LUX Setting: Controls when the light turns ON based on ambient light. Slide switch to "L" for darker conditions, "M" for dusk, or "H" for lighter conditions.
- Time Setting: Controls how long the light remains ON. Slide switch to the desired time duration (e.g., 5s, 1 min, 5 min, 12 min).
REMINDER: The sensor has a 1-1/2 minute warm-up period before it will detect motion. Wait 1-1/2 minutes after turning it on.
Avoid aiming the control at:
- Objects that change temperature rapidly (heating vents, air conditioners).
- Areas with pets or traffic.
- Nearby large, light-colored objects that reflect light.
- Other lights pointing at the sensor.
Troubleshooting
Lights Will Not Come On:
- Check if the light switch is turned OFF.
- Ensure the light is not loose or burned out.
- Verify the fuse is not blown or the circuit breaker is not OFF.
- Check if Daylight Turnoff is active (verify after dark).
- Inspect for incorrect circuit wiring, especially in new installations.
- Re-aim the sensor to cover the desired area.
Lights Stay ON Continuously:
- A lamp may be positioned too close to the sensor or pointed at nearby objects that generate heat, triggering the sensor. Reposition the lamp away from the sensor or objects.
- The light control may be pointed toward a heat source like an air vent, dryer vent, or a brightly painted heat-reflective surface. Reposition the sensor or reduce its range.
Lights Come On for No Apparent Reason:
- The light control may be sensing small animals or automobile traffic. Re-aim the sensor.
- The range may be set too high. Reduce the range setting.
Lights Come On in Daylight:
- The light control may be installed in a relatively dark location.
Lights Flash ON and OFF:
- Heat or light from the lamps may be causing the light control to cycle ON and OFF. Reposition the lamps away from the sensor.
- Heat reflected from other objects may be affecting the sensor. Reposition the sensor.
Maintenance
To clean the surface of the light, use mild soap and water. DO NOT use scouring pads, powders, steel wool, or any other abrasive materials. DO NOT immerse the fixture in water.
