Note: Illustrations in this manual are for guidance only and may differ from actual devices.
Important: External Antennas
The detachable antennas are required for both Bluetooth and WLAN network connection. Ensure you connect the antennas before attempting to use the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functions of the ND8006.
Connecting the External Antennas for Bluetooth/WLAN Connection
For each of the two antennas:
- Place the antenna vertically above the antenna connector on the left or right upper corner of the rear of the unit.
- Turn the antenna clockwise until it is securely connected. Do not overtighten.
- Angle the antenna upwards for the best possible reception.
Setup Steps
The setup involves seven steps:

Step 1: Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control
Open the battery compartment on the remote control and insert two R03/AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity.
Step 2: Connecting to the Amplifier
Connect the AUDIO OUT (FIXED or VARIABLE) terminals on the ND8006 to the AUDIO IN terminals on your amplifier using the supplied audio cables.
Step 3: Connecting the Power Cable to an Outlet
Connect the supplied power cable to the AC IN terminal on the ND8006 and then to a household power outlet (230 V AC, 50/60 Hz).
Step 4: Establishing a Network Connection
Choose one of the following options:
Wireless Connection
Option 1: iOS Device
Ensure your iOS device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. In the Wi-Fi settings menu, select the network named "Marantz ND8006".
- Power on the ND8006.
- Select Language (e.g., English). (Network settings may take a few minutes to appear.)
- Select "WLAN-Scan" (Wi-Fi Scan) and wait while the ND8006 searches for available networks.
Option 2: Wi-Fi Router (No WPS)
- Power on the ND8006.
- Select Language (e.g., English).
- Select "WLAN-Scan" (Wi-Fi Scan).
Option 3: WPS Router
- Power on the ND8006.
- Select Language (e.g., English).
- Select "Mit WPS-Router" (With WPS Router).
Wired Connection (LAN)
- Connect a network cable (not included) between the ND8006 and your router.
- Power on the ND8006.
- Select Language (e.g., English).
- Wait while the ND8006 establishes a connection to your wired network.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and tap Next.
- Select your network name (SSID). If your network name is not displayed, select "Search again".
- Enter your network password using the remote control's numeric keys.
- Press the WPS button on your router, then press the ENTER button on the remote control within 2 minutes.
- Wait for the connection to complete. (The ND8006 display will show the connection status.)
Note: If the Wi-Fi network signal strength is weak, rotate the antennas on the back of the ND8006 to improve reception, or move your router closer to the ND8006.
Step 5: Network Control and Settings
Network Control Setting
On: Allows you to control the ND8006 via your smartphone, use Bluetooth/Apple AirPlay®/HEOS App, and maintain a constant network connection. Standby power consumption is slightly higher.
Off: Reduces standby power consumption. You cannot turn on your ND8006 via smartphone or use Bluetooth/Apple AirPlay/HEOS App until the ND8006 is manually powered on and connects to your network.
Auto-Update Setting
- Turn Auto-Update On to automatically download and install future updates when the ND8006 is in standby mode.
- Turn Auto-Update Off to disable automatic updates.
Usage Data Setting
To improve Marantz products and customer service, Marantz anonymously collects information about how you use your ND8006. Marantz will never share this information with third parties.
- Select Yes to send usage data.
- Select No to not send usage data.
Setup Complete!
Step 6: Enjoy Your Music!
Music via Internet Radio
- Press INTERNET RADIO.
- Select your desired station and press ENTER.
- Select "Play Now" and press ENTER.
Music with Apple AirPlay
- Open the Control Center (iOS 7 and later) by swiping up from the bottom of your screen, then tap AirPlay.
- Select "Marantz ND8006" from the AirPlay device list.
- Play content on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
Music via Bluetooth
- Press Bluetooth to select it. If this is your first time using a Bluetooth device, the unit will automatically enter pairing mode, and "Bluetooth Pairing Mode" will be displayed.
- Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device.
- Select "Marantz ND8006" from the Bluetooth device list on your device.
- Play music via any app on your device.
Note: For pairing with other Bluetooth devices, press and hold Bluetooth on the remote control until "Bluetooth Pairing Mode" is displayed on the unit.
Step 7: Downloading the HEOS App
With the HEOS App, you can control your ND8006 from anywhere in your home. HEOS allows you to discover, browse, and play music from many online streaming services or your own music library.

Step 8: Playing Computer Audio
1) Installing Driver Software for Windows
Note: The driver software does not need to be installed in the following cases: If you are not playing music via a PC and the USB-DAC of this unit. If using Mac OS. The driver software may not install correctly if the PC and the unit are connected via USB cable. If the unit and computer are connected via USB cable, and the computer was turned on before installation, disconnect the cable and restart the computer.
Windows OS System Requirements: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.
- Download the dedicated driver from the "Download" section of the ND8006 page on the Marantz website: www.marantz.com/pages/home.aspx.
- Extract the downloaded file and double-click the EXE file.
- Install the driver: Select the desired language for installation and click "OK". The installation wizard will appear; follow the on-screen instructions. Click "Yes" once the wizard is complete.
Note: Please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) at www.marantz.com if you encounter problems playing audio stored on your computer with the ND8006. Also, check the support pages for your audio player application if necessary.
2) Connecting to a Computer or Mac
Connect your computer or Mac to the ND8006 using a USB 2.0 cable (sold separately). Connect Type A on the computer to Type B on the ND8006's USB-DAC port.
3) Playing Audio from a Computer or Mac
- Power on the ND8006.
- Press USB-DAC to select "USB-DAC" as the input source.
- Set this unit as the audio signal destination on your computer.
Windows OS:
- On your PC, click "Start" and then "Control Panel". The Control Panel list will open.
- Click the "Sound" icon. The "Sound" window will open.
- On the "Playback" tab, verify that "ND8006" is set as the "Default Device". If another device is set as default, click on ND8006 and then "Set Default".
- Select "ND8006" and click "Properties". The "ND8006 Properties" window will appear.
- Click the "Advanced" tab.
- Select the sample rate and bit depth for the D/A converter. Recommended settings: "2 Channel, 24 Bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)" for Windows 7, or "2 Channel, 32 Bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)" for Windows 8/Windows 8.1/Windows 10.
- Click "Apply".
- Click "Test". Verify that audio is output from this unit via the PC.
macOS:
System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.10, 10.11, or macOS 10.12.
- Move the cursor to "Go" on the computer screen and click "Utilities". The list of utilities will appear.
- Double-click "Audio MIDI Setup". The "Audio Devices" window will appear.
- Ensure "Use this device for sound output" is selected for "ND8006". If another device is selected, select "ND8006" and perform a "Secondary click" on it, then select "Use this device for sound output".
- Select the format for "ND8006". It is usually recommended to set the format to "384000.0 Hz" and "2 Channel - 32-Bit Integer".
- Exit Audio MIDI Setup.
Use your preferred music applications on your PC/Mac to play audio data via the ND8006. For high-resolution audio playback, you may need modern audio player software such as JRiver Media Center or Audirvana.
Note: You may need to select additional settings for audio output with the ND8006 in your modern audio player application. Refer to your application's user manual for details.
