Quick Start Guide

Overview

This Quick-start Guide presents an overview of the Touchscreen data logger, with setup and connection instructions to get your device up and running on Ethernet or Wi-Fi. You can then register the device in DicksonOne to view data online, configure alarms, and much more.

What's in the Box

Getting Started

  1. Plug sensors into the device.
  2. Plug the device into power.
  3. Press the power button on the side of the device to turn it on.
  4. Enable the channels you want to display on the screen (details in “Graph Settings" section).
  5. IMPORTANT: Review firmware versions online at https://www.dicksonone.com/change_logs and opt-in to Firmware Notifications in your DicksonOne profile.

Notes About Sensors

The long, straight piece of the sensor is an extension arm for ambient temperature and temperature/humidity sensors. It is plugged directly into the device. When unplugging a Replaceable Sensor, wait 10 SECONDS before plugging it back in.

Note: TSB devices are configured via the touchscreen interface ONLY. TWE/TWP devices connect to the internet via the touchscreen interface but are further configured on DicksonOne.

Touch the 'Settings' icon on the bottom right of the device screen to access device settings for configuration and information.

Using Your Touchscreen Locally (Without Cloud Software)

All touchscreen devices (TWEs and TWPs) can be used as standalone devices without a DicksonOne subscription. TSBs can only be used locally.

To set TWE or TWP as a standalone device:

  1. Tap the 'Settings' icon.
  2. Tap the WiFi icon in the Settings Menu to open 'Network Settings'.
  3. Set 'DicksonOne Enabled' to OFF.

Using Your Touchscreen With Cloud Software

Connecting a Logger to the Internet (TWE/TWP Only)

Connect via Ethernet

  1. While connected to power, plug an Ethernet cable into the device and an active Ethernet jack.
  2. Navigate to the 'Network Settings' screen.
  3. Switch the 'Network Adapter' setting to Ethernet.

Connect via Wi-Fi

  1. Navigate to the 'Network Settings' screen.
  2. Switch the 'Network Adapter' setting to Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap Scan to scan for your network. Select the appropriate network from the list. If your network is not found, manually enter your SSID.
  4. Enter your network password, security settings, and encryption as needed. Tap Connect.

Get Started on DicksonOne

Create a DicksonOne account online or sign in:

  1. Visit DicksonOne.com/signup.
  2. Complete the registration form and click 'Sign Up.'
  3. Review and acknowledge the Terms of Use.

Verify Your DicksonOne Subscription

Note: A subscription is required for full features, including alarms and data storage beyond 30 days. Verify subscription status via DicksonOne.com > Manage > Billing. Contact your sales representative or support if needed.

Once your account is set up, you can register devices by clicking '+Register New Hardware.'

Adding a Logger to Your DicksonOne Account

After connecting the logger to the internet, register it using the 6-digit registration code from the device's Network Settings screen.

Steps:

  1. On your DicksonOne account, click '+ Add Hardware'.
  2. Click '+ Add a DicksonOne Logger'.
  3. Fill out the device registration form:
    • Provide a name for the device.
    • Type in the 6-digit registration code.
    • Select a location and determine settings.
    • Click 'Register Device'.

Data will flow into the system within 5-10 minutes.

Configure Your Device Settings

Touch the gear icon ⚙️ in the lower right corner of the screen to configure your device.

Note: If your device is connected to DicksonOne, some settings may be disabled on the device and configurable only online. For more details, visit the knowledge center at https://dicksondata.com/touchscreen-support-articles/.

Alarm Settings

To configure an alarm:

  1. Enable the alarm (up to two per channel or one high and one low per channel).
  2. Select an 'above' or 'below' condition to trigger the alarm.
  3. Set the value the reading must meet to trigger the alarm.
  4. Enable the audible alarm if desired (a message will still appear on screen if disabled).

Readings To Trigger (Alarm Delay): The number of readings that must meet the alarm condition before an alarm is triggered. For example, with a 5-minute Sample Rate and 2 'Readings to Trigger', an alarm will sound after 10 minutes of the condition being met.

Downloading Data

To download data, plug in a USB flash drive and follow these steps:

  1. Hit the 'Save to USB' button.
  2. Select the desired export format:
    • CSV (All Channels on This Device): Exports all stored channels, including those from old sensors (if not cleared), in CSV format.
    • CSV (Connected Channels): Exports only stored channels for currently connected sensors in CSV format.
    • DicksonWare: Exports a file compatible with DicksonWare software, maintaining 21CFR11 compliance, including all stored channels.
