Initial Check
Before commencing installation, perform the following checks:
- Ensure the gate moves freely by hand through its full open and close travel.
- Verify the pier or post for mounting is of solid construction (e.g., brick, solid timber, or steel) and can support the force applied by the drive unit.
- Confirm a weatherproof 240V 10A general-purpose power point is available within one meter of the pier/post. If two Elite® gate openers are needed, plan for underground cabling between posts.
- Check that adequate sideroom clearance is available. If not, the Minimum Sideroom Kit is required.
Power Supply
A properly earthed 3-pin single-phase power supply is required.
WARNING!
A portable power generator is not recommended due to potential spikes, surges, and fluctuations in the supply.
CAUTION:
Do not use any cables that carry green/yellow wires, as these signify earth connections and may not comply with electrical authority regulations.
Mounting the Drive Unit
Record the mount distance of the Drive Unit; this value will be used later.
Select the mount distance for the drive unit and the hinge distance for the gate to optimize sideroom clearance.
NOTE: If the gateway slopes away from the pier/post, ensure there is sufficient clearance for the drive arm extension and slave arm to avoid touching the ground.

Mount distance | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 5 | 0 m |
Mount the drive unit using four (4) 10mm Dynabolts or similar anchors and the mounting template provided.
Ensure the Drive Unit is mounted at an appropriate height from the ground, allowing a minimum of 35mm clearance for the drive arm extension.
NOTE: If the gate is already installed, measure the hinge distance and use the table above to optimize the mount distance.

Affixing Arms And Brackets To Gate
Position the gate in the closed position.
- Attach the drive arm extension (2) to the drive arm (fixed to the drive unit 1) using two (2) Hex Head screws (7) [screw], spring washers (8) [washer], and flat washers (9) [washer].
- Attach the slave arm (3) to the drive arm extension (2) using the remaining shoulder screw (6) [screw] and two (2) plastic washers (5) [washer]. Do not tighten yet.
- Assemble the Gate Mounting Bracket (4) and the Slave Arm (3) using the remaining shoulder screw (6) [screw] and two (2) plastic washers (5) [washer].
- Extend the arms straight out and mark the position where the Gate Mounting Bracket touches the gate. From this mark, measure 10mm towards the Drive Unit and mark again. This is where the Gate Mounting Bracket will be mounted.
- Remove the Gate Mounting Bracket (4) from the Slave Arm (3) and secure the bracket to the gate at the second mark using appropriate screws (not supplied).
- Reassemble the Slave Arm to the Gate Mounting Bracket using the shoulder screw (6) [screw] and plastic washers (5) [washer]. Secure firmly.
For Right Hand Side Installation
When the gate is closed, turn the lower cam clockwise until an audible click is heard from the lower micro-switch. Open the gate to the required opening position and turn the top cam anticlockwise until a click is heard from the top micro-switch. Once the cams are set to the desired limit, tighten the screws.

When the gate is closed, turn the lower cam anticlockwise until an audible click is heard from the lower micro-switch. Open the gate to the required opening position and turn the top cam clockwise until a click is heard from the top micro-switch. Once the cams are set to the desired limit, tighten the screws.

If limited sideroom is available, an optional minimum sideroom kit can reduce the gate opener's required sideroom to the width of the drive unit (135mm). (ATA Order code 90182).
- Drill a Ø12.5 mm hole in the Elite® Drive Arm Extension. Use the hole in the minimum sideroom kit extension arm (1) [part number] as a guide.
- Secure the extension arm (1) [part number] onto the Elite® drive arm extension with two (2) Hex M12 x 30 screws (2) [screw] and two (2) spring washers (3) [washer]. Fit a Hex M12 Nut (2) [nut] to the end of the screw in the newly drilled hole.
- Check that the screws are tight.
- Ensure the Drive Unit is disengaged and the gate is closed. Slide the Guide Track (8) [part number] over the idler (6) [part number] if previously removed. Locate the track on the gate and check the travel of the arm. The idler should always be inside the Guide Track in both the closed and open positions.
- Secure the track to the gate (weld if possible).
NOTE: If a shorter arm is required, drill the drive arm extension and extension arm at appropriate points. The arms should not need cutting, and the pre-threaded hole in the drive arm extension should still be usable.

Follow these instructions for mounting:
- Place the template on the wall or post and drill four (4) holes using the center point of each indicated hole.
A 'Datum Line for drive arm' is indicated on the template, 28mm from the bottom edge.

The safety alert symbols below indicate personal safety or property damage instructions.
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
This Elite Swing Gate Opener is designed and tested to offer safe service when installed and operated in strict accordance with the following safety rules. Failure to comply may result in death, serious personal injury, or property damage.
- WARNING! ⚠️ The gate may operate unexpectedly. Do not allow anything (persons, vehicles, objects) to remain in the path of the gate. Do not disengage the gate opener for manual operation with children, persons, or objects, including motor vehicles, within the gateway. Remove or disengage all gate locks and mechanisms prior to installing the opener. Ensure the gate is fully open before driving into or out of the driveway.
- When using auto-close mode, a Photo Electric beam must be fitted correctly and tested for operation at regular intervals. Extreme caution is recommended when using auto-close mode. All safety rules must be followed.
- ELECTROCUTION! ⚡ Do not immerse or spray the Elite® or the Control box with water. Disconnect the power cord from the mains power before making any repairs or removing covers. Only experienced service personnel should remove covers from the gate opener. If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an Automatic Technology service agent or a suitably qualified person. Connect the gate opener to a properly earthed general-purpose 240V mains power outlet installed by a qualified electrical contractor.
- CAUTION: Entrapment from operating gate ⚠️ Do NOT operate the gate opener unless the gate is in full view and free from objects such as cars and children/people. Ensure the gate has finished moving before entering or leaving the driveway. Do not allow children to play with gate controls or transmitters.
- For the Elite® to sense an obstructing object, some force must be exerted on the object. As a result, the object, gate, and/or person may suffer damage or injury.
- Regularly check that the Safety Obstruction Force is working correctly and is tested and set as per Section 12 of this manual. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious personal injury and/or property damage. This test must be repeated at regular intervals, with necessary adjustments made as required.
- If using a key switch, keypad, or other operating device, ensure it is located where the gateway is visible but out of reach of children (at a height of at least 1.5m).
- For ADDITIONAL SAFETY protection, it is STRONGLY recommended to fit a Photo Electric (Safety) Beam. In most countries, Safety Beams are mandatory on all gates fitted with automatic openers.
- Ensure the gate(s) is in good working order. Faulty gates must be repaired by a qualified technician prior to Elite® installation.
- Frequently examine the installation and mountings for signs of wear, damage, or imbalance. DO NOT use if repair or adjustment is needed, as a fault or incorrectly balanced gate may cause injury.
- Make sure the gate is fully closed before leaving the driveway.
- Keep hands and loose clothing clear of the gate at all times. Keep clear of the gate during operation, as severe lacerations can occur on sharp edges of the gate.
Installation Security:
- [Security: Entanglement in or laceration from moving gate.] Keep hands and loose clothing clear of the gate at all times. Keep clear of the gate during operation as severe lacerations can occur on sharp edges of the gate.
