Linear Technology LT4250L/LT4250H: Negative 48V Hot Swap Controller

Overview

The LT4250L and LT4250H are negative 48V Hot Swap controllers from Linear Technology. These devices enable boards to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane. They offer programmable inrush and short-circuit current limits, undervoltage and overvoltage protection, and a power good output signal.

Key Features

  • Allows safe board insertion and removal from a live -48V backplane.
  • Circuit breaker immunity to voltage steps and current spikes.
  • Programmable inrush and short-circuit current limits.
  • Operates from -18V to -80V.
  • Programmable overvoltage and undervoltage lockout.
  • Power Good control output.

Applications

  • Central Office Switching
  • -48V Distributed Power Systems
  • Negative Power Supply Control

Technical Specifications

The LT4250L/LT4250H controllers are available in 8-pin PDIP and SO packages. They are designed to manage inrush current by controlling the gate voltage of an external N-channel pass transistor. The device provides protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent conditions.
