Overview of system
The system consists of the Bosch drive unit (BDU), a remote or display unit connected via an HMI cable, and the BCM3100. The BCM3100 connects to the BDU via an HMI cable port.
- Remote or display HMI cable
- 100 mm HMI cable
- HMI Cable Port @DU
Mounting step 1: Preparing the cables
- The wires of the BBP cable should be tied together by either twisting 1 turn, or using a cable tie or tape.
- The BBP cable should be routed close to the BDU housing with maximum distance to the BCM.
- All extra cable length should be located in the bike frame away from the BCM.
The image shows the BCM1 cable above the BBP cable and the BCM1 cable behind four other cables. The remote or display HMI cable is also shown.
Mounting step 2: Rubber support to BDU
This step involves attaching the BCM Rubber support to the BDU.
Mounting step 3: Connect the HMI cables to BCM
Assemble cables:
- Cable 1 (HMI BCH3611_150) into DU and to BCM1.
- Cable 2 (remote or display HMI cable) to BHU3x00 or BRC3x00.
The image shows BCM1 and BCM2 connectors. The BCM1 cable is shown above the BBP cable and behind other cables. The remote or display HMI cable is attached to BCM2.
Alternative step 3: Routing of the cables under the CP
A: Route all cables under CP
The image shows the BCM1 cable above the BBP cable and behind other cables.
B: Attach BCM1
This step involves attaching the BCM1.
C: Attach remote or display HMI cable to BCM2
The image shows the remote or display HMI cable being attached to BCM2.
D: Assemble the screw to CP according to step 4
The image shows the BCM3100 assembly with EJOMAT SHEETtracs screw 40x8 Torx T20 being used to attach it to the CP.
Mounting step 4: Attach BCM to BDU37yy
A: Hook tab of BCM into rubber support
Insert BCM here.
B: Align screw holes
Align holes for BCM2 cable and BCM cable. Avoid clamping any cables between CP and BCM.
Continue mounting step 4: Attach BCM3100 to BDU37yy
C: Assemble the screw
Push BCM inwards while screwing. The image shows the BCM3100 being screwed into place using an EJOMAT SHEETtracs screw 40x8 Torx T20.
Assembly screw torques:
- 1st time: 5.0 Nm.
- 2nd to 3rd time (if dis-assembled): 4.0 Nm.
- If the screw is disassembled, it should be thrown away and a new screw shall be used. Also, the screw shall be positioned by hand to avoid the cutting of a second thread.
If the CP is of older version:
- Pay attention when assembling the screw. Older CP have smaller hole diameter, and increased risk of breaking the screw.
- Inspect that the screw is completely mounted and no gaps between grounding plate, screw and CP.
Mounting step 5: Align BCM1 cable and mount Design Cover
To prevent clamping the BCM1 cable when the Design Cover is mounted, the cable routing should be according to the below picture. After mounting the Design Cover, inspect if the BCM1 cable is clamped.
The image shows to pull the BCM1 cable and align it. Another image shows a red arrow indicating that if the BCM1 cable is clamped by the design cover, push it back underneath before mounting the Design Cover screw.
