How to Voice Control EZCast Devices with Google Home

Introduction

This guide explains how to use Google Home to voice control your EZCast devices. Before you begin, you must register your devices to your EZCast account using the EZCast app.

Prerequisites

Download EZCast App

Android 4.4 and above
iOS 9.0 and above

Setup Steps

Select your EZCast device: Launch the EZCast app and select your EZCast device (ensure it's connected to Wi-Fi).
Rename your device: After selecting your device, navigate to Settings (sidebar) and change the device name to something easy to pronounce (e.g., "Living Room", "Bedroom", "Office", "Kitchen"). Reboot the dongle for changes to take effect.
Sign in to EZChannel: In the EZCast app, choose EZChannel, then select "Personal" > "Sign in EZChannel".
Register device: After signing in, click "OK" to register.
Link with Google Home: Proceed to your Google Home app to bind your EZCast device.
Initiate Linking: Say "Hey Google, talk to EZCast." Google will respond, indicating if your EZCast account is not yet linked and guiding you to link it via the Google Home app.
Authorize Skill: Launch your Google Home app. A "Link to EZCast" tab will appear on the homepage. Click it and log into your EZCast account. Proper authorization is required for this skill.
Select Device: After authorization, choose your EZCast device and click "OK".
Ready: Your EZCast device is now ready for voice commands.

Voice Commands for EZCast Control

You can initiate commands in two ways:

Option 1: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast." (then give your instruction)
Option 2: "Hey Google, ask EZCast to {your instruction}" or "Hey Google, talk to EZCast to {your instruction}"

Playing Specific Episodes/Seasons

Example: "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to watch season 2, episode 4 of Game of thrones"

Basic Playback Controls

Pause: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Pause video"
Resume: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Resume video" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to resume video"
Stop: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Stop"
Next Video: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Play next video" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to skip video"

Fast Forward & Rewind

Fast Forward: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Fast forward [time]" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to fast forward [time]" (e.g., "2 minutes 30 seconds", "30 seconds")
Rewind: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Rewind [time]" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to rewind [time]" (e.g., "3 minutes", "30 seconds")

Volume Control Commands

Set Specific Volume (0-31): "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Set the volume to [Number]" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to set the volume to [Number]"
Adjust Volume: "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Set the volume down/up by [Number]" or "Hey Google, ask/talk to EZCast to set the volume down/up by [Number]" (e.g., "by 2")
Adjust Volume (relative): "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Volume down" or "Hey Google, talk to EZCast. Volume up"
