Product Overview
This document provides installation instructions for the Axxess AXBUC-VW92, a camera retention interface designed for select Volkswagen and Skoda vehicles manufactured between 2008 and 2015.
Interface Features:
- Allows the factory backup camera to be used with an aftermarket radio.
- Features plug-and-play connectivity, requiring no wire cutting.
Important Note: This interface retains the camera functionality. It does not retain the motorized OE camera door opening function. If your vehicle has a motorized camera door, a different interface may be required for that specific feature.

Connections: BLK-AXBUC-VW92
This section describes the connections required for the AXBUC-VW92 interface.
Interface Components:
- Interface Module: A small black box with a 4-position dipswitch labeled "ON VE 1 2 3 4".
- Harness (BLK-AXBUC-VW92): Connects the interface to the vehicle and aftermarket radio.
- Vehicle Connector: Connects to the vehicle's factory wiring harness.
Aftermarket Radio Connections:
The interface harness provides the following connections for the aftermarket radio:
- CAM OUT: Connects to the rear view camera input of the aftermarket radio.
- Radio Connections:
- Black wire: Ground
- Yellow wire: Battery (12V+)
- Purple wire: Reverse trigger input

Installing the Interface & Dip Switch Settings
Connect the AXBUC-VW92 to the vehicle's wiring harness, typically located at the radio location (26-pin connector).
Installation Steps:
- Connect the Ground wire from the AXBUC-VW92 harness to the aftermarket radio's ground wire.
- Connect the Yellow wire from the AXBUC-VW92 harness to the aftermarket radio's Yellow (Battery/12V+) wire.
- The Purple wire is a Reverse input. Connect the reverse trigger signal from your vehicle or a compatible interface to this wire. Important: Do not connect this wire to the vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM) for the reverse signal, as VW vehicles use PWM circuitry. Connecting to the BCM may cause the backup camera to flicker when the vehicle is running. Ensure you use a dedicated reverse signal or an interface that provides a suitable reverse output.
- Plug the CAM OUT Video cable into the rear view camera input of your aftermarket radio.
- Plug the White connector (if applicable) into the interface box.
- Plug the vehicle connector into the interface box and then connect the interface to the vehicle's harness. Test the system.
Dip Switch Settings:
If the backup camera screen flashes quickly or remains blank when the vehicle is put into reverse after installation, you may need to adjust the dip switches on the side of the interface module. Try the following sequences:
Troubleshooting Sequence:
- Step 1: Set Dip Switch 3 to OFF. If the issue persists, proceed to Step 2.
- Step 2: Move all Dip Switches (1, 2, 3, 4) to OFF. If the issue persists, proceed to Step 3.
- Step 3: Set Dip Switch 3 to ON, leaving Dip Switches 1, 2, and 4 in the OFF position.
