FortiGate 90G Series QuickStart Guide
This guide provides essential information for setting up your FortiGate 90G or 91G device.
The Essentials
Secure your Network
Register at support.fortinet.com for the latest threat protection updates.
GUI Setup
- Connect Port 1 to an Ethernet port or USB-RJ45 Ethernet adapter on your computer using the provided Ethernet cable.
- Open a browser to https://192.168.1.99.
CLI Setup
- Connect a console cable (not included) to the Console Port.
- Open a Terminal app using 9600-8-N-1.
Default Login
- URL: https://192.168.1.99
- Username: admin
- Password: leave blank

Setup
FortiExplorer Go
Steps: Install FortiExplorer Go [➡️] Enable Bluetooth [➡️] Follow the on-screen instructions.
GUI Setup Diagram

CLI Setup Diagram

Front FG-90G Series Panel Details
Part Numbers: Pxxxxx-11-01 and above
The front panel features several ports and indicators:
- 1. BLE LED: Indicates Discovery mode (Flashing Blue), BLE on (Blue), or BLE off (Off).
- 2. Reset/BLE Button: Press to enable BLE; press and hold for system reset.
- 3. HA (High Availability) Indicators: Green for HA enabled (normal), Amber for HA enabled (failover), Off for HA disabled.
- POWER Indicators: Green for both PSUs functioning, Amber for one PSU functioning, Off for power off.
- STATUS Indicators: Flashing Green for booting up, Green for operating normally, Off for device off.
- 4. Console (RJ45) Port: For CLI management.
- USB (USB A) Port: USB 3.0 server port.
- 5. SFP+ Ports 1 & 2: Shared with X1 & X2. The Link/Act LED (left) shows Green for Link established, Flashing Green for Data activity, and Off for no link. The Speed LED (right) shows Green for 10 Gbps, Amber for 5/2.5/1 Gbps, and Off for 100 Mbps or off.
- 6. FortiLink Ports X1 & X2: Shared with SFP+1 & SFP+2. Link/Act LED: Green (Connected), Flashing Green (Data Activity), Off (No activity).
- 7. Ethernet Ports 1 to 6 and Ports A & B: Link/Act LED: Green (Connected), Flashing Green (Data Activity), Off (No activity). Speed LED: Green (1 Gbps), Amber (100 Mbps), Off (10 Mbps or not in use).
- 8. SIGNED FIRMWARE BIOS Security Level: Controlled by a switch. High: Unsigned firmware blocked (default). Low: Unsigned firmware allowed with a warning. Refer to the Admin Guide for details.
Note: A different part number series (Pxxxxx-10-01 and below) is also mentioned, featuring WAN ports 1 & 2 instead of SFP+ ports for sharing with SFP+1 & SFP+2.
Rear FG-90G Series Panel Details
Part Numbers: Pxxxxx-11-01 and above
- 1. Signed Firmware Switch: Part Numbers: P28786-12 (FG-90G) / P28792-12 (FG-91G) and up.
- 2. Power Input: 12VDC 3A, 100-240VAC 50/60Hz. (Optional redundant power adapter and cable available for purchase).
Part Numbers: Pxxxxx-10-01 and below
- 1. Power Input: 12VDC 3A, 100-240VAC 50/60Hz. (Optional redundant power adapter and cable available for purchase).
Cautions and Warnings
Environmental Specifications
Ambient operating temperature: 0°C to 40°C.
Rack Mount Instructions
Considerations for rack installation include elevated operating ambient temperature, reduced air flow, mechanical loading, circuit overloading, and reliable earthing. Refer to the specific Product Model Data Sheet for detailed environmental specifications.
Safety
- Battery: Risk of explosion if replaced with an incorrect type. Do not dispose of in fire. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
- Shock Hazard: Disconnect all power sources before servicing.
- Power Supply: Product is intended to be supplied by a Listed pluggable A via Class I external power supply adapter or a Listed Direct Plug-In Power Unit marked LPS or Class 2, rated 12 Vdc, 3 A.
- Grounding: Ensure proper grounding for equipment connected from outside the building. Use an ESD workstation or anti-static wrist strap. The product has a separate protective earthing terminal on the back panel.

- UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) - United Kingdom: Complies with Statutory Instrument 1206 Radio Equipment Regulations 2017. Transmits within 2402-2480MHz, less than 20dBm. Minimum installation distance of 20cm required.
- Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) - Brazil: Equipment does not have the right to protection against harmful interference and cannot cause interference.
