Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of a high-quality, Insignia TV. Your TV represents the state-of-the-art in LED TV technology and is designed for reliable and trouble-free performance.

INlink

Enjoy the benefit of having HDMI CEC-compatible products plug and play! No setup is needed! CEC technology lets different devices discover and communicate with each other. (See page 21 for instructions on how to use INlink.)

TV Components

TV Front

Jacks

Your TV may have the following items:

  • Power/Input button: A single button that controls power and accesses the FUNCTION list for input selection, channel list, and volume adjustment.
  • Digital OPTICAL output jack: A small, square-shaped port, often orange, for connecting to audio systems.
  • Digital COAXIAL output jack: A small, round port for audio output.
  • Headphone jack / AUDIO OUT jack: A standard 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones or audio systems.
  • Antenna/Cable in jack: A coaxial connector for connecting an antenna or cable TV.
  • Analog video and audio (AV) jacks: Three RCA connectors (yellow for video, red/white for audio) for connecting AV devices.
  • USB: A rectangular port for connecting USB flash drives to view JPEG pictures.
  • HDMI / HDMI/ARC: Rectangular ports for connecting HDMI devices or ARC-enabled home theater receivers.

Additional jacks include:

  • RESET: A small, recessed button to reset the TV to factory defaults.
  • SERVICE: A small, recessed button for service use only.

Cautions: Ensure proper connections, check cable tightness, and unplug the power cord when connecting external equipment.

Remote Control

The remote control allows you to operate your TV. Key buttons include:

  • Power [power-button]: Turns TV on/off.
  • Numbers: Enter channels or passwords.
  • MENU [menu-button]: Opens the on-screen menu.
  • ENTER [enter-button]: Confirms selections.
  • EXIT [exit-button]: Closes menus.
  • ACC: Opens Accessibility menu.
  • VOL+/- [volume-up]/[volume-down]: Adjusts volume.
  • ASPECT: Changes picture aspect ratio.
  • SLEEP: Sets sleep timer.
  • INPUT [input-button]: Selects video input source.
  • FAVORITE: Accesses favorite channels.
  • INFO*: Displays TV status information.
  • CC: Toggles closed captioning.
  • MUTE: Mutes/unmutes audio.
  • CH /CH: Changes channels.
  • GAME: Sets picture mode to Game.
  • PICTURE: Selects picture mode.
  • AUDIO: Selects audio mode.

Connecting Devices

Connecting a Cable or Satellite Box

Use the best connection type available: HDMI (best), AV (good), or Coaxial (good).

  • HDMI: Connect one end of an HDMI cable (not provided) from the HDMI OUT port on your cable or satellite box to an HDMI IN port on your TV.
  • AV: Connect an AV cable (not provided) from the AV OUT jacks on your cable or satellite box to the AV IN jacks on your TV.
  • Coaxial: Connect a coaxial cable from the cable wall jack to the cable-in jack on your cable or satellite box. Then, connect another coaxial cable from the box's coaxial out jack to the TV's Antenna/Cable in jack.

Ensure all equipment is off and power cords are unplugged before connecting. After connecting, plug in power, turn on devices, and select the correct input source on the TV using the INPUT button.

Connecting an Antenna or Cable TV (No Box)

Connect a coaxial cable from the antenna/cable TV wall jack to the TV's Antenna/Cable In jack. Power on the TV and select the TV input source using the INPUT button.

Connecting a DVD or Blu-ray Player

Use HDMI (best) or AV (good) connections.

  • HDMI: Connect an HDMI cable from the player's HDMI OUT port to the TV's HDMI IN port.
  • AV: Connect an AV cable from the player's AV OUT jacks to the TV's AV IN jacks.

Follow similar connection and input selection steps as for cable/satellite boxes. Set the player to the correct output mode if necessary.

Connecting a Game Console

Use HDMI (best) or AV (good) connections.

  • HDMI: Connect an HDMI cable from the console's HDMI OUT port to the TV's HDMI IN port.
  • AV: Connect the console-specific AV cable from the console's AV OUT jack(s) to the TV's AV IN jack(s).

Ensure the correct output mode is set on the game console.

Connecting a Computer

Connect an HDMI cable from the computer's HDMI OUT port to the TV's HDMI IN port. Power on both devices and select the HDMI input source. Adjust computer display properties if needed.

Connecting a USB Flash Drive

Plug the USB flash drive into the TV's USB port. The PHOTOS menu will open. You can browse photos or start a slideshow. The supported format is JPEG (.jpg).

Connecting Headphones

Connect headphones to the Headphone/Audio Out jack. The TV speakers will be muted. Use the lowest volume setting on headphones for safe listening.

Connecting External Speakers or a Sound Bar

Connect via Digital audio (optical or coaxial) or Analog audio (audio out jack).

  • Digital Audio: Use digital audio cables to connect the TV's digital output jack to the speaker/sound bar's audio in jack. Set the TV's Audio Format to PCM if necessary.
  • Analog Audio: Use audio cables to connect the TV's audio out jack to the speaker/sound bar's audio in jack. Adjust the TV's Headphones/Audio Out setting accordingly.

Connecting Power

Connect the power cord to the TV's power connector and then to a power outlet. Unplug the TV during extended periods of non-use.

Using INlink (HDMI CEC)

INlink allows compatible HDMI CEC devices to be controlled by your TV's remote. Ensure HDMI cables are used, CEC is enabled on the connected device, and INlink Control is set to 'On' in the TV's settings menu.

Turning on Your TV for the First Time

The Easy Setup wizard guides you through initial setup:

  1. Install remote control batteries and connect antenna/cable.
  2. Press the Power [power-button] button to turn on the TV.
  3. Select your preferred Menu Language.
  4. Configure Voice Guide (optional).
  5. Choose between Home Use Mode or Store Display Mode.
  6. Select 'Watch TV' to skip customization or 'Customize my TV' to configure settings.
  7. Set your Time Zone and Daylight Saving preferences.
  8. Set the Date and Time.
  9. Set the Time (Hour, Minute, AM/PM).
  10. Create Input Labels for connected devices (optional).
  11. Select the appropriate Video Input Source.
  12. Confirm the setup is complete.

Understanding the Basics

Turning Your TV On or Off

Press the Power [power-button] button to turn the TV on or off (standby mode). Unplug the power cord for complete power disconnection.

Selecting the Video Input Source

Press the INPUT [input-button] button and select the desired video source (e.g., HDMI, AV, USB) from the list.

On-Screen Menu Overview

Navigate menus using the remote's arrow buttons, ENTER [enter-button], MENU [menu-button], and EXIT [exit-button]. Different input sources may display different menu options.

Navigating Menus

Use arrow keys [arrow-up]/[arrow-down]/[arrow-left]/[arrow-right] to move the cursor or select options. Press ENTER [enter-button] to confirm a selection or enter a sub-menu. Press MENU [menu-button] to go back to the previous menu, and EXIT [exit-button] to close the menu.

Selecting a Channel

Use the CH /CH buttons or the number buttons to select channels. Press the [return-button] to go to the last viewed channel.

Adjusting the Volume

Use the VOL+/- [volume-up]/[volume-down] buttons to adjust volume. Press MUTE to silence audio.

Viewing Channel Information

Press the INFO* button to display program information, channel details, signal type, and other relevant data.

Adjusting Settings

Access various settings via the MENU [menu-button] button.

Adjusting Picture Settings

Options include Picture Mode (Vivid, Standard, Energy Savings, Movie, Game, Custom), Advanced Settings (Aspect Ratio, Overscan, etc.), Backlight, Brightness, Contrast, Color, Tint, Sharpness, and Reset Picture Settings.

Adjusting Sound Settings

Options include Audio Mode (Standard, Theater, Music, News, Custom), Balance, Bass, Treble, TV Speakers, Digital Audio Format/Audio Delay, and Reset Audio Settings.

Selecting the Audio Out Mode

When connecting external audio devices, choose between 'Headphones/Audio Out Variable' (use TV remote) or 'Audio Out Fixed' (use device remote) for audio output.

Playing TV Audio Only

Turn off the picture to listen to audio only. This feature is available for the TV input source when receiving a broadcast signal.

Changing Channel Settings

Includes Auto Channel Search, Add/Skip Channels, Favorite Channel Setup/List, Channel Labels, and Channel Strength adjustments.

Setting Parental Controls

Block unrated content or set locks based on U.S. or Canadian ratings. A password is required to bypass content restrictions.

Locking the Power Button

Enable 'Button Lock' in settings to prevent operation of the TV's physical buttons, requiring remote control use.

Using Closed Captioning

Enable Closed Captioning for text display of audio content. Options for analog and digital captions, including custom digital settings, are available.

Adjusting Time Settings

Set Time Zone, Date, Time, and configure the Sleep Timer.

Adjusting Menu Settings

Change Menu Language, enable/disable Auto Input Sensing, and label input sources for easier identification.

Adjusting Accessibility Settings

Features include Voice Guide (narrates menus, English only), Closed Caption, Audio Language, Video Description (narrates visual elements), and Remote Control help.

Maintaining Your TV

Cleaning the TV Cabinet

Use a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth with mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.

Cleaning the TV Screen

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and their solutions are provided for various categories:

Using the HELP Menu

Access System Info, Learn More (remote codes, soundbar info), Update Firmware, Customize TV, Speaker Test, and Reset to Default options.

Video and Audio Problems

  • Picture not filling screen: Adjust Aspect Ratio.
  • No picture/sound: Check power, Audio Only setting, video cables, input source, and try another channel.
  • Dark/poor picture: Check connections, adjust brightness, picture mode, and signal strength.
  • No color/dark picture: Adjust color settings, check cables, and signal strength.
  • Snow/noise on screen: Check connections, signal strength, and antenna.
  • Picture quality varies: Check signal source; consider a set-top box if connecting to cable TV without one.
  • Dotted lines/stripes: Check antenna/cable connections, signal strength, and move interfering devices.
  • Bright/dark spots: Normal for LCD screens.
  • Video description/voice guide not working: Ensure accessibility features are enabled and check broadcast support.
  • Good picture, no sound: Check volume, mute, headphones, audio mode, external speaker settings, and audio cables.
  • Poor picture: Adjust room lighting, turn off interfering devices, and adjust picture settings.
  • Good sound, poor color: Adjust contrast, color, and brightness settings.

Remote Control Problems

  • Remote not working: Check for obstructions, remove battery plastic, ensure correct battery installation, and replace batteries if needed.
  • Trouble programming universal remote: Refer to the remote's manual or visit www.insigniaproducts.com/remotecodes for codes.

General Problems

  • No power: Check outlet, unplug/replug TV, and check for interfering devices.
  • "No signal" message: Select the correct input source and ensure the device is connected properly.
  • No channels after scan: Check reception, connections, try new cables, or disable Auto Input Sensing.
  • Input grayed out: Ensure the connected device is on and try disabling Auto Input Sensing.
  • Channels not displaying: Check parental controls, channel hiding settings, and ensure the correct input source is selected.
  • Password lost: Enter 9999 to reset parental controls.
  • Settings grayed out: Change the video input mode.
  • Cabinet creaks: This is normal due to temperature changes.
  • Button Lock issue: Ensure the Button Lock option is set to 'Off'.

INlink (CEC-compatible) Device Problems

  • No video/audio: Verify HDMI cable connection, device CEC compatibility, INlink Control setting, input source, and volume/mute settings.
  • Remote not controlling device: Check for obstructions, use the device's remote, ensure INlink is on, and verify TV speakers/audio receiver settings.
  • Device not in INlink list: Ensure the device is on, check HDMI cable, INlink Control, and CEC compatibility.
  • Device not turning off/TV not turning on: Ensure INlink is on and check Device Auto Power Off/TV Auto Power On settings.
  • Audio Receiver setting reverts: Turn off the INlink feature or ensure correct settings are applied.
  • Two volume bars: This indicates both TV and audio receiver volume are displayed.
  • Root Menu issue: The connected device may not support this feature.
