Navigation Overview

HS4 is a mobile-friendly web application designed for use on any browser-equipped device. Essential functions are accessed from the main navigation bar at the top of the screen.

Navigation bar includes sections for:

Installing Plugins

Plugins are software programs that allow HS4 to integrate with smart devices and technologies. For example, to use Philips HUE smart bulbs, you need to install the Philips HUE plugin. Learn More About Plugins

  1. Open the HS4 web interface and navigate to the Plugins/Add page. All plugins will be listed. Click the desired plugin and then click the INSTALL button.
  2. After installation, click the button in the lower-right corner to enable the plugin. Consult the plugin documentation for setup details.

Creating Devices

Devices are the fundamental building blocks for any HS4 system. When you add a smart product, a corresponding device is added to the software. Device attributes are displayed as Features. Some features are controllable, while others simply display values or status. Controlling a device (e.g., turning it on or off) directly affects the physical smart product.

Visual representation of smart home devices in the HS4 interface. The 'Grid View' shows devices like 'Multi-sensor' with status indicators (e.g., 'Green', 'No Motion', '77.6 F'). The 'List View' displays similar device information with attributes like 'Temperature', 'Luminance', and 'No Motion', along with timestamps and control options like 'OFF', 'RED', 'GREEN', 'BLUE'.

Since devices are added using controls and procedures engineered into each plugin, refer to the plugin documentation for more information. Learn More About Devices

Creating Events

Events are rules that automate smart devices in your home. Each event consists of at least one Trigger and one Action. Conditions can also be applied to any trigger. The example shows a living room lamp turning on at sunset on Tuesdays.
