Accessories
The system utilizes various accessories for installation:
- HIT-RB: Brush for borehole cleaning (hef > 20 x d)
- HIT-SZ: Overhead application accessory
- HIT-DL: Cleaning rod (hef > 10 inches / 250 mm)
- HIT-OHC: Nozzle
- HIT-M2: Mixer (supplied with the product)
- HIT-OHW: Dispensing tool
Ancillary Equipment
For effective use, the following equipment may be required:
- Hilti VC 150/300 or VC 20/40 (-Y) vacuum cleaner (for dust extraction)
- MD 1000 (possibly a dispensing tool or accessory)
- Art. No. 381215 (related to drilling/dispensing, requires ≥ 6 bar / 90 psi air supply)
Installation Guide
Follow these general steps for proper installation:
- Borehole Preparation: Drill the borehole to the specified diameter and depth (hef). Ensure the borehole is clean and free from debris, dust, water, oil, and grease. Use Hilti TE-CD or TE-YD hollow drill bits with a Hilti vacuum cleaner for dust extraction. Brush the borehole with a suitable steel brush, ensuring resistance is felt to confirm correct brush size.
- Anchor Insertion: Insert the anchor or rebar into the prepared borehole. Ensure it is seated correctly.
- Adhesive Dispensing: Attach the correct mixer (HIT-M2) to the cartridge. Dispense the adhesive from the bottom of the borehole to avoid air voids. Use extensions if necessary to reach the bottom.
- Curing: Allow the adhesive to cure for the specified time (tcure) based on the ambient and base material temperatures. The working time (twork) is also critical.
Important Considerations:
- Ensure correct cartridge and base material temperatures are maintained during installation (typically -23°C to 32°C / -10°F to 90°F).
- Store and transport the product in a cool, dry, dark place between 5°C and 25°C (41°F and 77°F).
- Partially used cartridges must be used within four weeks. Leave the mixer attached and store according to recommendations.
- For overhead applications, use the HIT-SZ accessory and exercise caution.
- In water-saturated concrete, the anchor must be set immediately after borehole cleaning.
Safety and Handling Precautions
- Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Never start dispensing without a mixer properly screwed on.
- Always attach a new mixer before dispensing from a new cartridge.
- Do not modify the mixer or use damaged cartridges.
- Improper handling can cause mortar splashes.
- Ensure adequate borehole cleaning for optimal adhesion and to prevent fastening failure.
- Failure to adhere to instructions can result in fastening failure.
Disposal Information
Dispose of empty and partially used cartridges as special waste in accordance with official regulations and local EAK waste codes.
