ASSEMBLING & INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The drawing shown may not exactly match the product enclosed. However, the installation instructions do apply to this product.
WARNING! SHUT POWER OFF AT FUSE OR CIRCUIT BREAKER.
ATTENTION! COUPER LE COURANT AU FUSIBLE OU UN DISJONCTEUR.
FIG. 1: Moisture Prevention
To prevent moisture from entering the outlet box and causing a short, use clear caulking (i.e. Indoor/Outdoor Silicone Sealant) to outline the outside of the fixture back plate where it meets the wall, leaving a space at the bottom to allow moisture a means to escape.
Diagram Description (FIG. 1):
A diagram illustrates the proper sealing of a light fixture's back plate against a wall to prevent moisture ingress. It shows a fixture mounted to a wall, with clear caulking applied around the outer edge of the back plate where it meets the wall. A small gap is left at the bottom of the caulking seal to allow moisture to escape. The diagram labels key components involved in the installation, such as the Screw, Glass shade, Bulb (not included), Mounting Screw, Supply Wire, Supply Ground Wire, Junction Box (not included), Mounting Plate, Box Screw, and Fixture Wire.
ASSEMBLING THE FIXTURE (Fig.1)
- Shut off the power at the circuit breaker box. Remove the old fixture and all hardware from the Junction Box. Carefully unpack your new fixture and lay out all parts on a clear area. Take care not to lose any small parts necessary for installation.
- Fix mounting plate D onto the junction box with the Box Screw. The side of the mounting plate marked “GND” must face outwards. The junction box is not included.
- Attach the back plate (D) of the lamp body (B) onto the junction box, and lock it securely with the Mounting Screw.
- Follow wiring instructions carefully (see fig.2).
- Attach the back plate of the lamp body (B) onto the junction box, and lock it securely with the Mounting Screw.
- Install the light bulbs (not included) in accordance with the fixture's specifications. NOTE: DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM WATTAGE RATING!
CONNECTING THE WIRES (Fig.2)
- Connect the electrical wires as follows: Connect the Black wire from the fixture to the black house (hot) wire. Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) house wire. Make sure all wire nuts are secured. You may wrap the connections with electrical tape. If your outlet box has ground wires (green or bare copper), connect the fixture's ground wire to it. Otherwise, attach the bare copper fixture wire to the green ground screw on the mounting plate.
- Tuck the wire connections neatly into the wall junction box.
Your installation is now complete. Return power to the junction box and test the fixture.
Diagram Description (FIG. 2):
This diagram visually guides the user through connecting the fixture's wires to the house wiring. It presents three common scenarios: Fixture wire labeled "Black or Smooth" connects to house wire labeled "Black (Hot)". Fixture wire labeled "White or Ribbed" connects to house wire labeled "White (Neutral)". Fixture wire labeled "Bare Copper (Ground)" connects to house wire labeled "Green or Bare Copper (Ground)".
