4. RB443T Safety Features

1. Inspect the parts before mounting the battery pack

Examine screws for secure tightening. Retighten loose screws.

2. Set the main switch to "OFF", trigger lock to "LOCK", and remove the battery pack

Perform this before changing battery pack, moving tool, using belt hook, repairing, adjusting, replacing tie wire (without loading assist), or when abnormalities occur or tool is not used.

3. Keep fingers and body parts clear between the arm and curl guide

Failure to do so may result in serious injury.

4. Keep fingers and body parts away from the tie wire when tool is in operation

Failure to do so may result in serious injury.

5. Do not point the tool at anyone

Personal injury may result. Be careful not to bring body parts near the arm of the tool.

6. When the tool is not in operation, keep fingers off the trigger

Failure to do so may cause accidental tying, leading to serious injury.

7. Never operate the tool under any abnormal condition

If tool is not working properly or abnormal condition is noticed, switch off immediately, lock trigger, and have it examined/repaired.

8. After battery installation, if tool operates without trigger or shows unusual heat/smell/sound, discontinue operation

Failure to do so may lead to serious injury. Return to dealer for safety inspection.

9. Never modify the tool

Modification impairs performance and safety, leading to serious injury and voiding warranty.

10. Handle the tool with care

Dropping or impact may result in breakdowns or damage.

11. Maintain the tool in good operating condition

Keep tool free of wear and damage. Keep hand grip dry and clean.

12. Use only the authorized battery pack

Using unauthorized power supplies may damage, overheat, or cause fire.

13. To ensure maximum performance, fully charge the battery before use

Charge battery pack with the designated MAX Battery charger.

14. Battery charging precaution

14-1 Use only MAX Battery charger and MAX Battery pack.

Failure to do so may cause battery to overheat or catch fire.

14-2 Charge from a.c. 100V-240V wall sockets.

Failure to do so may result in overheating or inadequate charging.

14-3 Never use a transformer.

14-4 Never connect charger to engine generator d.c. power supply.

14-5 Avoid charging in rain, damp places, or where water splashes.

Charging damp/wet battery may cause electric shock or short circuit.

14-6 Do not touch power cord/plug with wet hand/glove.

May cause injury from electric shock.

14-7 Do not put cloth/cover on charger during charging.

Will cause overheating, damage, or fire.

14-8 Keep battery pack and charger away from heat and flames.

14-9 Do not charge near flammable materials.

14-10 Charge in a well-ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight.

14-11 Charge between 41°F (5°C) to 104°F (40°C).

14-12 Avoid continual use of charger; rest for 15 minutes between charges.

14-13 Keep ventilation holes/receptacle clear of dust.

14-14 Handle power cord carefully. Do not carry by cord. Do not use cord to disconnect.

Damaged cord must be repaired/replaced.

14-15 Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

14-16 Charger not intended for use by children/disabled persons without supervision.

14-17 Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the charger.

14-18 Put Pack cap on Terminal when Battery pack is not in use.

14-19 Do not let Terminal short-circuit.

Short circuit causes overheating and damage.

14-20 Do not leave/store tool in vehicle or direct sunlight in summer.

High temperatures may cause battery deterioration.

14-21 Do not store a fully discharged battery pack.

Recharge immediately when discharged.

15. Wear safety gloves while operating the tool

Tie finish has sharp edges. Be careful not to touch sharp edges. Tool has rotating parts. Wear safety gloves.

16. Prior to using the tool

Make sure safety features function properly. If not, avoid using the tool.

Note: There are cases where rebars cannot be tied due to conditions such as they are far from each other.

11. Battery Instructions

About the Battery Level Indicator

Check battery level by pressing the Battery level check button (Fig.35.32). The Battery level gauge (Fig.35.33) indicates the level.

Service Life of the Battery pack

If tying time drops significantly even after full charge, the battery pack is at the end of its service life. Replace it.

NOTICE

Recycling a Li-ion Battery

Li-ion batteries are recyclable. It is illegal to dispose of them in municipal waste. Contact 1-800-8-BATTERY for recycling information. MAX battery packs use Li-ion batteries. Check local waste officials for recycling options.

⚠️ CAUTION

When disposing of the Battery pack, put a Pack cap on its Terminal (with insulating tape) to prevent short circuits.

12. Operating Instructions

1. How to set the Tiewire

Set Main switch (⑯) to "OFF", Trigger lock (②) to "LOCK", and remove Battery pack (5).

⚠️ CAUTION

1-1 (Fig.9) Press Release button (8), confirm it's caught in Release stopper (9).

1-2 (Fig.10) Stretch out the tip of the wound Tiewire.

Use only specified Tiewire (MAX TW1061T Series).

Using unspecified binding wire may cause tool breakdown. RB443T is not compatible with TW898 or TW1525 series.

MAX TW1061T SERIES Tie Wire ARE PATENTED.

DO NOT USE RUSTY WIRE. Rusty wire may cause functional trouble.

1-3 (Fig.11) Rotate Magazine stopper (6) 45° counterclockwise.

1-4 (Fig.12,13) Open Magazine cover (28), set Tiewire in Magazine (⑦) with Holding slot (34) facing up.

1-5 (Fig.13) Hold wire tip, remove from Holding slot, feed outside Wire feed support (29).

NOTICE: The 2 wire tips of new Tiewire are twisted.

1-6 (Fig.14,15) Straighten wire tip, insert parallel into Wire guide (22).

1-7 (Fig.16) Confirm through Window (20) that twisted part of wire reached past two Feeding gears (21).

1-8 (Fig.17) Press Release stopper (9) up, confirm Release button (8) raised up.

1-9 (Fig.18) Close Magazine cover, rotate Magazine stopper 45° clockwise.

2. How to set the Tiewire using the Loading assist button

This function enables wire ejection and loading/replacement without pressing Release button.

⚠️ CAUTION

An alarm will sound when Tiewire runs out.

2-1 (Fig.17) Press Release stopper (9) up, operate with Release button (8) raised up.

2-2 (Fig.6) Set Main switch (16) to "OFF", Trigger lock (2) to "LOCK", remove Battery pack (5).

2-3 (Fig.19) Mount Battery pack until click.

2-4 (Fig.20) Set Main switch to "ON" and press Loading assist button (15) for "piro, piro, piro" sound (Loading mode).

2-5 (Fig.21,22) Remove Tiewire if it runs out or is left.

2-6 (Fig.13) Feed wire outside Wire feed support (29).

2-7 Insert wire tip into Wire guide. Wire grasps and pulls in approx. 1 inch (20mm), "pirorin" sound indicates completion.

If "puu" sound, pull wire out, ensure feeding gears are clear/closed. Press Loading assist button again, re-insert wire.

2-8 (Fig.23) Pull wire to ensure it doesn't come out of Feeding gears.

2-9 (Fig.18) Close Magazine cover, rotate Magazine stopper 45° clockwise.

3. How to operate RB443T

⚠️ WARNING

(Fig.24) When Main switch (Fig.1.16) is "ON", Hook (Fig.1.17) rotates for initializing. Keep fingers away from rotating/moving parts.

Do not touch rotating/moving parts (hook, tie wire) during tying.

(Fig.6) Set Main switch to "OFF", Trigger lock (2) to "LOCK", remove Battery pack (5).

3-1 (Fig.19) Mount Battery pack.

Face arm downward, set Main switch to "ON".

3-2 (Fig.25) Set Main switch to "ON", Trigger lock (2) to "UNLOCK".

3-3 (Fig.26) Tilt tool 45° to crossed rebars.

3-4 (Fig.27) Align Center mark (11) to center of crossed rebars.

3-5 Pull Trigger to complete tying actions (feeding, cutting, gripping, tying).

4. How to remove the Tiewire

(Fig.6) Set Main switch (16) to "OFF", Trigger lock (2) to "LOCK", remove Battery pack (5).

4-1 (Fig.9) Press Release button (8), confirm caught in Release stopper (9).

4-2 (Fig.11) Rotate Magazine stopper (6) to open Magazine cover.

4-3 (Fig.21) Remove Tiewire from Magazine.

4-4 (Fig.22) Remove wire with plastic piece from Wire guide.

5. When the Tiewire runs out

(Fig.28) Plastic piece comes off normally; discard separately. (Approx. 16" remains after normal use)

(Fig.6) Set Main switch (16) to "OFF", Trigger lock (2) to "LOCK", remove Battery pack (5).

6. Tension adjustment

(Fig.29.13) Adjust wire tension torque. Turn counterclockwise to increase, clockwise to decrease.

7. Auto Power-off feature

Tool automatically turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity to save battery. Turn Main switch OFF and ON again to operate.

8. For proper tightness

8-1 (Fig.26) Tilt tool 45° to crossed rebars.

8-2 (Fig.27) Align Center mark (11) to center of crossed rebars.

8-3 (Fig.30) Apply tool perpendicularly to rebars.

During tool operation:

Do not move tool during tying until it stops automatically.

8-4 (Fig.31) Tie in alternate direction.

8-5 (Fig.32) Cross tying. Bend first tie knot before second tying.

9. How to reload previously used Tiewire

(Fig.33) Without twisting, insert 2 wires into Wire guide (Fig.1.22).

10. How to reload the Tiewire using the Loading assist button

Follow same cautions as section 2. An alarm sounds when Tiewire runs out.

10-1 Set Main switch (Fig.1.16) to "OFF" to stop alarm.

⚠️ CAUTION

10-2 Set Trigger lock (Fig.1.2) to "LOCK", Main switch to "ON".

10-3 Press Loading assist button (Fig.20.15) for "piro, piro, piro" sound (Loading mode).

10-4 For subsequent operations, refer to P.18, (2-5).

11. How to set and remove the Belt hook to the tool

Belt hook (24) can be installed on right or left side. Attach with M4 hex bolt. Secure with 1.75N•m (17.5kgf.cm) torque.

13. Storage and Maintenance

Storage

Do not store in cold weather. Store in a warm, dry place, out of reach of children.

Remove reel of Tiewire

When finished, remove reel from tool.

Store the tool

When finished tying or for long-term storage, set Main switch (Fig.1.16) to "OFF", Trigger lock (Fig.1.2) to "LOCK", and remove Battery pack (Fig.1.5). Store in a well-ventilated dry place, temperature not exceeding 104°F (40°C).

Store Battery pack with Pack cap (Fig.2.25) in a well-ventilated dry place, temperature not exceeding 86°F (30°C).

Maintenance

Do not blow air around Feeding gears (Fig.1.21) and Hooks (Fig.1.17) to prevent dust entry.

If three short beeps repeat, dust sensors (Fig.35.30) and lenses (Fig.35.31) with soft cloth or cotton bud.

Wipe tool with a soft dry cloth. Do not use wet cloth, volatile substances (thinner, benzine). Do not lubricate equipment.

How to open and close the window

Window (Fig.36.20) is secured by Hex bolt (Fig.36.23). Loosen bolt with Hex key (Fig.36.34), open window to remove foreign objects or entangled wires. Secure with 0.75N•m (7.5kgf·cm) torque.

14. Items Notified by the Buzzer During Wire Loading Assistance

The tool notifies the user of situations with a buzzer:

15. Warning Buzzers and Procedures to Follow

⚠️ WARNING

If conditions occur, set Main switch (Fig.1.16) to "OFF" and remove Battery pack (Fig.1.5) before following procedures. Do not touch tying/rotating parts when Main switch is "ON".
