Water and Ice Dispenser Controls

The dispenser control panel features a water dispenser paddle.

Dispensing Water (Standard)

IMPORTANT: Dispense at least 1 qt (1 L) of water every week to maintain a fresh supply.

  1. Press a sturdy glass against the water dispenser paddle.
  2. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.

Dispensing Water (Measured Fill)

Measured Fill allows dispensing a specified amount of water with a few button presses. Ensure the container is empty and can hold the entire volume. Household water pressure may affect accuracy; calibration is recommended for optimal performance.

How to Calibrate Measured Fill

IMPORTANT: Flush the water system before calibrating.

  1. Place a sturdy measuring cup (1-cup [237 mL] size) on the dispenser tray, centered in front of the water dispenser paddle. A measuring cup may be provided with some models.
  2. Press and hold the Options and Lock buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The display will show "Back" and "1 Cup", and the Calibrate Measured Fill icon will illuminate.
  3. Press and release the water dispenser paddle as needed to dispense water to the 1 cup fill line. If overfilling or spilling occurs, discard the water and press Ice Mode "Back" to restart calibration.
  4. Once 1 cup of water is dispensed correctly, touch the Measured Fill button under "Confirm" to confirm calibration. The Calibration icon will disappear, returning the display to the home screen.

Using Measured Fill

  1. Press Measured Fill to turn the feature on. The Measured Fill screen will appear. Press Ice Mode under "Back" to manually turn it off.

NOTE: The dispenser automatically turns off Measured Fill after 1 minute of inactivity. Any changes made will be lost, and defaults will be restored.

Water can be dispensed by the ounce, cup, or liter. The default unit is ounces. Press the Light button to switch units.

UnitsDefaultMinimumMaximum
Ounces81128
Cups11/416
Liters0.250.054.00

Press the Lock and Options buttons to adjust the dispense volume. The Lock button increases volume, and the Options button lowers it. Holding an adjustment button for approximately 10 seconds may cause the control to stop responding; release for 2 seconds and continue adjusting.

NOTE: Coffee cups vary in size; adjust volume to avoid overfilling.

  1. To dispense water, press a sturdy glass against the dispenser lever or place it below the dispenser and press the Measured Fill button. The digital display counts down the remaining water. The flow stops automatically once the selected volume is dispensed.
  2. To stop dispensing before the selected volume is reached, remove the glass or press the Measured Fill button a second time. The display will continue to show remaining water and turn off after 1 minute of inactivity.
  3. To select a new volume or dispense the same volume again, finish dispensing the current volume, or turn off Measured Fill (manually or by waiting 1 minute) and then turn it back on.

Dispensing Ice

Ice dispenses from the ice maker storage bin. To turn off the ice maker, refer to the Owner's Manual.

The dispenser may continue to make noise or dispense ice for several seconds after the button or paddle is released.

IMPORTANT: Do not apply excessive pressure to the paddle; it will not make ice dispense faster or in greater quantities.

  1. Press Ice Mode to select cubed ice (default) or crushed ice. The display indicates the selected type.

IMPORTANT: Hollow or irregular ice cubes may indicate low water pressure. Refer to "Water Supply Requirements" in the Owner's Manual.

Dispenser Drip Tray

The dispenser drip tray has a removable insert that can be taken to the sink for emptying or cleaning. Push down on the rear edge of the insert to tilt up the front edge for easy removal.

Inside Door Bins

To remove and replace bins:

  1. Lift the bin up and pull it straight out.
  2. Slide the bin in above the desired support and push down until it stops.

Pizza Pocket and Drawer Divider

The drawer divider is not removable but can be moved a few inches side-to-side to accommodate larger items.

Temperature-Controlled Drawer

IMPORTANT: This control sets the temperature only for this drawer, not the refrigerator or freezer compartments. The full-width drawer can store deli trays, fresh meat, beverages, or other items at an optimum temperature.

NOTE: Do not place leafy vegetables in this drawer, as colder temperatures may damage them.

Electronic Control

Press "Preset" to cycle through four temperature settings: Fresh Meat (32°F/0°C), Cold Drinks (36°F/2°C), Deli (default, 39°F/4°C), and Wine (41°F/5°C). The selected icon lights up.

Custom Temperature Control

Allows selection of optimum temperatures within the drawer's range (32°F to 41°F). Press (+) or (-) to adjust by 1-degree increments. "Custom" lights up for non-preset temperatures.

Manual Control

Slide the control to the temperature setting best suited for the stored items.

Temperature Settings (Manual):

  • Coldest: Fish and Meat
  • Colder: Deli and Cheese
  • Cold: Wine
