Correct Measuring Techniques
Visual Description: The following illustrates correct and incorrect methods for using the caliper:
- Incorrect: Caliper jaws are not flush with the surface being measured. Correct: Caliper jaws are flush and square to the surface.
- Incorrect: Caliper is tilted or not perpendicular to the measuring surface. Correct: Caliper is held perpendicular to the surface.
- Incorrect: Measuring depth with jaws improperly seated. Correct: Measuring depth with jaws correctly positioned.
Operation and Functions
Button Functions
Visual Description: The caliper features MODE and SET buttons. Diagrams illustrate the sequence of button presses for various functions:
- MODE Button: Used to switch between units (mm/inch) and to activate/deactivate functions.
- SET Button: Used to set zero, preset values, and confirm selections.
- Data Transfer: Buttons can be used in conjunction with the app to save data.
Operation Instructions
Cleaning: Wipe the caliper with a clean cloth, slightly dampened if necessary, to remove any anti-corrosion oil from the measuring surfaces.
Battery Replacement: To replace the battery (type CR2032), open the battery cover and insert the new battery according to the polarity of the electrodes.
Autoswitch Function: The caliper automatically switches on when the electronic module is moved and switches off after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Measurement Tip: Ensure the measuring jaws are properly aligned and in contact with the object without applying excessive force or knocking.
Warning
⚠️ WARNING!
In the process of working with calipers, the following should be avoided:
- Scratches on the measuring surfaces.
- Measuring the size of an object while it is still in the process of machining.
- Shocks or dropping the caliper.
- Bending of the measuring rod or other caliper surfaces.
Wireless Data Transfer Modes
The MICROTECH caliper is equipped with a built-in wireless data output module for transferring measurement results.
