Quick Start
Step 1: Turn On ?
Press the power button to turn on the device.
Step 2: Select Search Mode
Choose the appropriate search mode for your environment. Options include:
- Coin ?
- General/Park ?
- Field ?
- Beach ?️
- Jewelry ?
- Relic ?
- Coin/Relic ??
- Precious Coin/Craft ?
- Wet Sand/Dry Sand ?️
- Surf ?
Each mode may have sub-settings indicated by numbers (1 or 2) and environmental icons like fire ?, water ?, or sand ?️.
Step 3: Noise Cancel ⚙️
Activate noise cancellation to reduce interference.
Step 4: Start Detecting ?♂️
Begin your metal detecting search.
Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Minelab X-TERRA ELITE metal detector:
- Connect the lower shaft to the search coil.
- Attach the middle shaft to the lower shaft.
- Connect the control box to the upper shaft.
- Secure the coil cable around the shafts.
- Insert the battery into the control box.
- Connect headphones if desired. ?
- Adjust the shaft length for comfortable use.
- The detector is now fully assembled.
- Locate the power button on the control box.

Charging
Charge the detector using a quality USB charger with a minimum 2A@5V rating. Charging takes approximately 5-6 hours. Ensure your charger displays the required markings (e.g., CE EAC).

Controls & Display
Main Controls:
- Power Button ?: Turns the device on/off.
- Sensitivity Level: Adjusts the detector's sensitivity.
- Flashlight ?: Activates the built-in flashlight.
- Backlight ?: Turns on the screen backlight.
- Ground Balance Tracking: Automatically adjusts for ground mineralization.
- Battery Status ?: Indicates remaining battery life.
- Discrimination Scale: Shows which metals are being detected or rejected.
- Frequency: Allows selection of operating frequency.
- Pinpoint/Detect Button: Switches between detection and pinpoint modes.
- Search Mode Button: Selects the pre-set search profile.
- Adjust Sensitivity & Settings Button: Accesses sensitivity and other settings.
- All Metal Button: Activates a mode to detect all types of metal.
Display Elements:
- Signal Strength Indicator: Shows the strength of the detected target.
- Sensitivity Level Display: Shows current sensitivity setting.
- Discrimination Scale: Visual representation of discrimination.
- Target ID Number ?: Numerical value indicating the likely type of metal.
- Depth Gauge ?: Estimates the depth of the target.
- Search Mode Indicator: Shows the currently active search mode.
