- AUTO: The thermostat automatically switches between heating and cooling modes based on temperature.
- EM HEAT (Heat Pump Systems Only): Thermostat controls emergency and auxiliary heat if needed, when the heat pump compressor is not operational.
Fan Settings
The FAN setting can be programmed for ON, AUTO, or CIRC for each period selected:
- ON: Fan runs continuously for improved air circulation or central air cleaning.
- AUTO: Fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is active.
- CIRC: Fan runs randomly approximately 35% of the time, providing improved air circulation without continuous operation.
Fan Status Display: The home screen may show "AUTO" or "ON" to indicate the programmed fan setting.
Manually Override Scheduled Fan Setting: Press the FAN key, then select the desired fan setting to temporarily override the programmed schedule. The thermostat will return to the programmed operation at the start of the next schedule period.
Program Your Heating and Cooling Schedule
Your thermostat supports up to four schedule periods per day:

Schedule times are set in 15-minute intervals.

When the vacation hold expires, the screen will display "Following Schedule".
Temperature Recovery Feature
This feature ensures your comfort by allowing the heating and cooling equipment sufficient time to reach your desired settings before a scheduled period begins. Recovery time varies based on local weather, your schedule, home construction, and equipment.
For example, if your WAKE period is set for 6:00 a.m. with a target of 70°F, the thermostat will activate heating in advance to reach 70°F by 6:00 a.m.
A "RECOVERY" notice is displayed when the system operates before the scheduled time.
Clean the Thermostat Screen
To clean the thermostat screen:
- Press the SCREEN key. The touch screen will lock for 30 seconds.
- Use a damp cloth slightly moistened with water or household glass cleaner. IMPORTANT: Do not spray liquid directly onto the thermostat; spray it onto the cloth first.
- Repeat as necessary.
- Press the DONE key to return to normal operation.
Battery Replacement
A low battery warning will flash on the home screen for approximately 30 days before batteries need replacement. It is recommended to replace batteries annually to prevent leakage and ensure power backup.
- When the low battery indicator flashes, replace the batteries with three fresh AAA alkaline batteries.
- To remove the thermostat, pull it straight out from the wallplate.
- Remove the old batteries and insert three fresh AAA alkaline batteries, noting the polarity markings.
- Align the terminal screw blocks with the pins on the back of the thermostat.
- Push the thermostat straight onto the wallplate until it snaps into place.
Reminder Timers
The thermostat provides reminders for changing the furnace filter, humidifier pad, or ultraviolet lamp. When a timer expires, a "Change" reminder appears, and a reset key is displayed.
Reset Timers:
- When the "Change" reminder appears, press the RESET key to restart the timer. If multiple timers expire simultaneously, press RESET until all have been reset.
View or Reset Timer Settings Before They Expire:
- Press the MORE key until the desired timer appears.
- Press the EDIT key to change the Timer Reload Value using the UP/DOWN arrows (refer to Advanced Settings for details).
- Press DONE to return to the selected timer.
- Press RESET to reset the timer to its reload value.
- Press DONE or CANCEL to return to the home screen.
Built-In Compressor Protection
The thermostat includes a minimum-off timer to prevent the compressor from restarting too soon after a shutdown. If a demand for operation occurs during the delay, a "WAIT" message is displayed. Once the delay expires, the system will operate as indicated (e.g., "COOL ON" or "HEAT ON").
Outdoor Temperature
If an optional outdoor temperature sensor is installed, the outdoor temperature is displayed in the lower right corner of the home screen. If it's not displayed, press the MORE key until it appears.
Advanced Heat Pump Features (Select Models)
Some models used with heat pump systems and an outdoor temperature sensor offer additional features, such as compressor and back-up heat lockout based on the outside temperature.
Screen Lock
You can lock the thermostat's touch screen partially or fully. A "Screen Locked" message indicates this feature is active.
- Partially Locked Screen: Locks all keys except the temperature UP/DOWN arrows and the SYSTEM key. The "Screen Locked" message appears briefly when a locked key is pressed. Temperature adjustments are possible, but schedule settings are not. The temporary temperature change lasts until the next scheduled period. Press CANCEL to end the override.
- Fully Locked Screen: Locks all touch screen keys except the SYSTEM key, which allows access to user set-up options. The "Screen Locked" message is displayed continuously.
Advanced Settings
Your thermostat offers advanced settings to customize its operation. These are typically set by the installer but can be adjusted by the user. Refer to the User Set-Up table for details.
Accessing Advanced Settings:
- Press and release the SYSTEM key.
- Press and hold the center blank key for approximately five seconds until the screen changes.
- Release the key when the display matches the example shown.
- Use the UP/DOWN arrows and other keys as indicated in the User Set-Up table to make selections.

- Schedule Options: Choose between non-programmable or fully programmable 7-day scheduling.
- Temperature Display Scale: Select Fahrenheit (0) or Celsius (1).
