Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This product is the first thinkplus conference device to integrate omnidirectional microphone and docking station functionalities. The official Chinese product name is thinkplus Conference Omnidirectional Microphone Speaker Business Edition.
Q1: Why is the PC's audio output not coming from the device when connected via USB?
A: By default, the PC's audio source usually selects the last inserted USB device. However, different system settings may vary. If the system does not automatically select this device, you need to select it manually. Steps:
- Left-click the volume icon in the taskbar.
- Select "Speakers (thinkplus meeting dock)" from the playback devices list.
Q2: Can the device be moved during a meeting (e.g., held in hand or moved around)?
A: No. During a call, the device's built-in echo cancellation and noise suppression algorithms run simultaneously to ensure a good call experience. Moving the device or obstructing the microphone during a call can affect the performance of these intelligent algorithms. To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended to place the device stably during meetings and ensure the microphones and speakers are unobstructed.
Q3: Why are there differences in sound pickup when using different conference software with this device?
A: The device has built-in noise reduction and voice enhancement algorithms. Different conference software may also have their own voice enhancement and noise reduction algorithms. The superposition of these algorithms can lead to slight differences in sound pickup effects across different software.
Q4: Why do I sometimes hear my own voice echo during calls?
A: This device has an echo cancellation function to prevent the remote party from hearing their own echo. If you hear your own echo during a call, it is likely due to the remote party's device having poor or no echo cancellation functionality.
Q5: Why doesn't the Mute button status on the device always match the mute button status in software like Tencent Meeting or WeChat?
A: The device's mute button provides physical muting, preventing your voice from being captured by the microphone. However, due to the different operating logic of various software applications, the displayed status in the software may not always perfectly sync with the physical mute state. Even if the status doesn't match, if the mute button is active (indicated by a red backlight ?), the actual call effect is physical muting.
Q6: Can the HDMI-out port and the USB Type-C port both be connected to an external display simultaneously?
A: No. If both the HDMI-out port and the USB Type-C port are connected to external displays, the PC's screen projection image will only be displayed on the external display connected to the HDMI port.
Q7: What video specifications does the device's HDMI-out port support?
A: The output of the HDMI-out port depends on the computer and the display. This device supports output up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz.
Q8: When connected to the PC via the USB Type-C cable, and the device's USB Type-C port is also connected to a power adapter, why does a yellow icon appear on my PC indicating slow charging?
A: The device consumes 15W of power. When connected to both the PC and a power adapter, 15W is deducted from the adapter's output before it is supplied to the PC. This reduction in power may cause some PCs to display a slow charging notification. To avoid this, it is recommended to use a higher wattage power adapter (65W or above) for optimal charging performance.
Q9: Why does the device work normally for audio when connected to the PC's USB Type-C port using the included USB Type-C cable, but the HDMI-out, USB Type-A, and Type-C ports do not function?
A: Some PC USB Type-C ports only support data transfer and not full functionality. In such cases, only the device's audio functions can be used on those PCs.
Q10: How do I upgrade the device's firmware?
A: Download and install the PC client software: "thinkplus会记" (thinkplus Meeting). You can upgrade the device firmware through this application. Download address: https://meeting.lenovo.com
Q11: Why does the firmware upgrade fail when using a USB Type-C to USB-A adapter to connect to the PC?
A: Device upgrades can only be performed using the included USB Type-C cable directly connected to the PC. Upgrades via adapters or USB Type-A ports are not supported.
Q12: What should I do if the firmware upgrade process fails?
A: The device has a backup firmware version. If you encounter this situation, please unplug and re-plug the device, then try upgrading again within the "thinkplus会记" software.
