7.1 Important Notice
- If error information cannot be corrected per instructions, contact your retailer.
- The product is designed to be waterproof, but avoid submerging it.
- Do not clean with a steam jet, high-pressure cleaner, or water hose.

7.4 Display Installation
- Match the rubber sleeve: Select the appropriate rubber sleeve based on handlebar diameter (Ø22.2, Ø25.4, Ø31.8, Ø35). Open HMI clamps and insert sleeves.
- Temporarily install the HMI: Place HMI clamps with sleeves on the handlebar and temporarily tighten M3*12 screws.
- Install the HMI: Adjust HMI angle for visibility and tighten screws with 1 N.m torque.
- Temporarily install the control unit: Open the control unit clamp, place it on the handlebar, and adjust the angle for ease of operation. (Control unit diameter is Ø22.2mm.)
- Install the control unit: Tighten the M3*12 screw with 1 N.m torque.
- Link the connectors: Connect the male HMI connector (F) to the female EB-BUS connector (f).
The light sensing device is on the back of the HMI. Do not cover this area.
7.5 Display
The display shows:
- 1. Battery capacity indication
- 2. Warn code indication
- 3. Speed in real-time
- 4. Speed bar
- 5. Power-assisted mode indication (4 or 6 Modes)
- 6. Unit switching of speed (km/h, mph)
- 7. Multifunction indication (Clock, TRIP, ODO, MAX, AVG, Range, CAL, Cadence, Time)
- 8. Symbol indication (Headlight, USB, Service, Bluetooth)
7.6 Key Definition
- Up Button: Headlight
- Down Button: Walk assistance
- Power Button: Power on/off
7.7 Normal Operation
7.7.1 Power ON/OFF
- Press and hold the Power button (>2S) to power on the HMI.
- Press and hold the Power button (>2S) again to power off the HMI.
7.7.2 Power-Assisted Mode Selection
Briefly press the Up or Down button (<0.5S) to select the power-assisted mode and change motor output. Modes available: 4 or 6. The default is 6 Modes (ECO to BOOST). ECO is the lowest, BOOST is the highest. OFF mode means no power assistance.
7.7.3 Headlight / Backlight
The headlight can be switched manually or automatically. Auto light function activates on HMI power-on.
- Press and hold the Up button (>2S) to turn on the headlight and reduce backlight brightness.
- Press and hold the Up button (>2S) again to turn off the headlight and increase backlight brightness.
Auto light function may be affected by ambient light. Manual switching temporarily disables auto function. It resumes after HMI restart.
7.7.4 Walk Assistance
Walk assistance can only be activated with a stationary e-bike.
- Briefly press the Down button (<0.5S) until the walk assistance symbol appears.
- Continue pressing the Down button until the symbol flashes, indicating activation.
- When speed is below 2.5km/h, the display shows 2.5km/h.
- Releasing the Down button exits walk assistance, and the symbol stops flashing. If no operation for 5s, HMI returns to OFF mode.
7.7.5 Multifunction Selection
Briefly press the Power button (<0.5S) to cycle through functions: Clock → TRIP → ODO → MAX → AVG → Range → CAL → Cadence → Time.
7.7.6 Battery Capacity Indication
The HMI displays battery capacity from 100% to 0%. Below 5%, the indicator blinks at 1 Hz to signal recharge.
7.7.7 Bluetooth Function
The HMI supports OTA updates for HMI, controller, sensor, and battery via Bluetooth. Connect to the Bafang Go+ APP via Bluetooth. Available data for the APP includes: Speed, Power-assisted mode, Battery capacity, Headlight state, TRIP, ODO, Range, Heartbeat (customized), Calories, Sensor signal.
7.7.8 USB Charge Function
When the HMI is off, connect a USB cable to the charge port and turn on the HMI to charge. Max charge voltage is 5V, max current is 1A.
7.7.9 Service Tip
When total mileage exceeds 5000 km, a symbol appears, reminding users of maintenance. This function is off by default.
7.7.10 Riding Data Interface
- Double press the Power button (<0.5S) to enter the riding data interface.
- Press the Power button (<0.5S) to switch pages.
- Double press the Power button (<0.5S) again to return to the main interface.
- Press and hold the Power button (>2S) to clear TRIP, MAX, AVG, Time data (only when speed is <5 km/h and not in walk assistance mode).
7.8 Settings
7.8.1 "Quick settings" Interface
From the main interface, press and hold the Up and Down buttons simultaneously to enter "Quick settings". Press and hold them again to exit to the main interface.
- 7.8.1.1 “Brightness”: Select "Brightness" and press the button to enter. Adjust percentage (10%-100%) using Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit.
- 7.8.1.2 "Auto off”: Select "Auto off" and press the button to enter. Choose automatic off time (OFF, 1-9 minutes) using Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit. Note: "OFF" disables the function.
- 7.8.1.3 “Clock setting”: Select "Clock setting" and press the button. Choose time format (12h/24h) using Up/Down buttons. Press the button to set the time using Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit.
- 7.8.1.4 "Theme”: Select "Theme" and press the button to save the chosen theme (Sporty, Technology, Fashion).
- 7.8.1.5 “Modes”: Select "Modes" and press the button to choose between "4 Modes" or "6 Modes".
- 7.8.1.6 “Trip reset”: Select "Trip reset" and press the button to choose "YES" or "NO". Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit. Note: Resetting TRIP also resets Time, AVG, and MAX speed.
7.8.2 "Display settings” Interface
From "Quick settings", select "OTHERS" and press the button to enter "Display settings".
- 7.8.2.1 “Trip reset”: Select "Trip reset", press the button, choose "YES" (clear) or "NO" (no operation) with Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit.
- 7.8.2.2 "Unit”: Select "Unit", press the button, choose "km" or "mile" with Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit.
- 7.8.2.3 "Service tip”: Select "Service tip", press the button, choose "ON" or "OFF" with Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit. Default is OFF. Flashes if ODO > 5000 km.
- 7.8.2.4 "AL Sensitivity”: Select "AL sensitivity", press the button, choose sensitivity level (OFF, 1-5) with Up/Down buttons. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit. Level 1 is weakest, Level 5 is strongest.
- 7.8.2.5 "Boot Password”: Select "Boot Password", press the button. Set a 4-digit password using Up/Down buttons. Select "YES" to save and exit. Then, select "ON"/"OFF" with Up/Down buttons and press the Power button (<0.5S) to save and exit. Default password is 0000, default setting is OFF.
- 7.8.2.6 "Reset Password”: Select "Reset Password", press the button. Enter the old 4-digit password, then the new password and confirm. Select "YES" to save and exit.
7.8.3 "Information" Interface
Information displayed cannot be changed.
- 7.8.3.1 "Wheel size”: Displays "Wheel size --inch".
- 7.8.3.2 "Speed limit”: Displays "Speed limit --km/h".
- 7.8.3.3 “Battery info”: Select "Battery info", press the button, then use Up/Down buttons to view battery information. Data may not be available if the battery lacks communication function.
- 7.8.3.4 "Controller info”: Select "Controller info", press the button to view hardware and software versions. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to exit.
- 7.8.3.5 "ΗMI info”: Select "HMI info", press the button to view hardware and software versions. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to exit.
- 7.8.3.6 "Sensor info”: Select "Sensor info", press the button to view hardware and software versions. If the e-bike lacks a torque sensor, "--" will be displayed.
- 7.8.3.7 "Warn code”: Select "Warn code", press the button to view the warning message. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to exit.
- 7.8.3.8 "Error code”: Select "Error code", press the button to view the error message. Press the Power button (<0.5S) to exit.
7.8.4 "Language" Interface
In the "Language" interface, select the desired language (English, Deutsch, Nederlands, Français, Italiano, Čeština) using Up/Down buttons and press the Power button to save.
7.8.5 "Theme” Interface
In the "Theme" interface, select the desired theme (Sporty, Technology, Fashion) using Up/Down buttons and press the Power button to save.
7.9 Error Code Definition
The ebike system monitors parts in real-time. Abnormalities trigger error codes displayed on the HMI. Troubleshooting methods are listed by fault probability.

Safety Precautions: Before disassembling, switch off system power via HMI, disconnect power cables. When installing, secure parts first, connect cables, then switch on power.
