Product Overview
The MAC500s is a Multi Air Cleaner designed by JIMCO, utilizing UV-C light and ozone (O3) technology to purify indoor air. It employs photolytic oxidation, a process that naturally recreates fresh air by breaking down airborne pathogens and organic particles.
Description of the Unit: The MAC500s is a sleek, rectangular air purification unit with a grey front panel and perforated side panels, featuring control buttons on the front.
JIMCO A/S has received an EU environmental award for developing this cleaner technology.
Intended Use and Function
Intended Use
The MAC500s is designed for continuous 24-hour operation. The recommended room size is 60 m³ (equivalent to 24 m² with a 2.5-meter ceiling height). For optimal efficiency, the unit should be placed as high as possible and not on the floor. If multiple units are used in a room, they should be spaced apart to ensure even air distribution.
The unit must not be operated without its cover.
Function
The MAC500s utilizes photolytic oxidation, a process that acts as a cold incineration for airborne pathogens and organic particles such as fungal spores, viruses, bacteria, yeast, ethylene gases, and nicotine. This environmentally friendly process significantly reduces airborne contaminants.
The MAC500s is effective in reducing ethylene gases, bacteria, and fungal spores, which helps extend the shelf life of food, fruits, and vegetables. It also effectively reduces odors originating from walls, carpets, textiles, and furniture.

Important Safety Instructions
WARNING!!!
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, observe the following:
- Before opening the appliance, switch it off and unplug it from the socket to prevent accidental activation. If a service disconnecting means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device (e.g., a tag). Opening the device exposes you to the risk of radiation from the UV-C light, which can cause painful corneal inflammation (conjunctivitis).
- When servicing or replacing a component, ensure all safety requirements are reinstalled as previously fitted.
- Use this unit only as intended by the manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer if you have questions.
- Directly viewing the light produced by the lamp can cause skin or eye damage. Always disconnect power before relamping or servicing. Use only Lamp Model No. J205-1122-8W UV-OZ LL, manufactured by JIMCO. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug; discard or return it for repair.
- Do not run the power cord under carpeting, throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route the cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping.
- This appliance must be grounded. Grounding provides an escape wire for electric current in case of a short circuit, reducing the risk of electric shock. The appliance is equipped with a grounding wire and plug, which must be connected to a properly installed and grounded outlet. Improper grounding can lead to electric shock.
- Place the machine on a solid surface for optimal effect.
- For wall mounting, follow instructions on pages 6-10.
- Never immerse the appliance in water.
- For indoor use only.
Operation and Maintenance
Lifetime of the Lamps
The JIMCO special lamp has a lifetime of approximately 8,000 operating hours. After this period, the lamp's efficiency decreases, and it should be replaced if the air is not being purified as effectively. 8,000 operating hours is roughly equivalent to one year of operation. If the device's effectiveness diminishes before 8,000 hours, check if the JIMCO Special lamp is dirty (e.g., with dust particles) and follow the cleaning instructions.
Maintenance
To maintain optimal performance, JIMCO recommends cleaning the lamp and fan approximately every 3 months for regular use. In heavily soiled or dusty rooms, cleaning should be performed more frequently.
Cleaning the Appliance:
- Turn off the appliance and unplug it from the socket.
- Clean the exterior with a damp cloth, using a little detergent if necessary (follow detergent instructions).
- Clean the lamp and fan with a clean, soft cloth, using a little ethyl alcohol if necessary.
- Note the date of cleaning.
Operation Instructions
- Switch the appliance on and off using the On/Off switch (labeled '1'). A red indicator light shows when the appliance is switched on.
- When approximately 500 operating hours remain, the On/Off indicator light will start to flash.
- After more than 8000 operating hours, all 3 red indicator lights will flash, and an acoustic signal will sound approximately every 30 minutes, indicating the lamp needs replacement.
- After replacing the lamp, reset the timer by holding down the Reset button (labeled '2') for more than 5 seconds. Five quick beeps will confirm the unit is ready for use.

Installation Instructions
In the Package
The MAC500s package includes:
- 1x MAC500s (Multi Air Cleaner) unit
- 2x Screws (provided in the bottom of the MAC500s)
- 2x DIN Rail Brackets (included in the box)
- 1x DIN Rail (included in the box)
Package Contents Illustration: An illustration shows the air cleaner unit, screws, DIN rail brackets, and a DIN rail.
Standard Installation
- Find a suitable location for your MAC500s.
- Connect the unit to a suitable plug socket.
- Place the MAC500s on a solid surface, such as a shelf.
- For best results, place the MAC500s as high as possible, approximately 5.9 feet (1.8 meters) from the floor.
For wall mounting, refer to the specific instructions on pages 6-11.
Wall Mounting Instructions
Note: Ensure at least 200 mm (approx. 8 inches) of clearance on both sides of the MAC500s for proper inlet and outlet air flow. The unit must be installed vertically.
- Find a suitable place for your MAC500s.
- Place the DIN rail on the wall and ensure it is level.
- Mark the hole positions on the wall using a pencil (on each side of the rail).
- Drill the holes and insert anchors if necessary.
- Mount the DIN rail to the wall using appropriate screws, anchors, or plugs for the surface.
- Mount the DIN rail brackets onto the back of the MAC500s using screws or anchors.
- Note 1: The tightness of the screws affects how securely the MAC500s is mounted on the DIN rail.
- Note 2 & 3: The orientation of the DIN rail brackets (by turning them 180°) determines on which side the outlet air will be directed. The outlet air is on the same side as the operation buttons.
- Note 4: The hooks on the DIN rail brackets should always be placed at the top, according to the chosen outlet air direction.
- Mount the MAC500s onto the installed DIN rail. First, attach the hooks on the DIN rail brackets to the DIN rail, then push the MAC500s towards the wall.
- Note 5: Ensure you hear a "click" to confirm the unit is securely attached.
Wall Mounting Diagrams: Detailed illustrations show the process of attaching the DIN rail, mounting brackets to the unit, and securing the unit to the rail.
General Installation Illustration: An image depicts the MAC500s unit plugged into a wall socket and placed on a table with a lamp, illustrating typical placement.
