How to Choose

Getting started with IKEA smart lamps is simple. Begin by considering what you want to do in the room, the type of light you need, and the functions and possibilities you desire for your lighting. The result is often better if you combine functional lighting, such as reading lamps, with mood lighting, such as dimmable floor lamps.

Follow the steps below to create your own lighting solution:

1. What possibilities do you want?

Dimming

If you only want to dim your lighting, choose a wireless dimmer and 1 LED bulb. Pair them and start dimming. It's easier to choose a kit as they are pre-paired. The TRÅDFRI LED driver allows you to wirelessly dim integrated lighting such as MITTLED, SKYDRAG, VAXMYRA, and NORRFLY.

Dimming and changing light from warm to cool

If you want to dim your lighting and gradually switch from warm to cool light, choose a complete kit that includes a remote control and 1 LED bulb with a white spectrum.

Dimming, changing from warm to cool, or different colors

If you want to dim your lighting and gradually change colors, or switch from warm to cool light, choose a complete kit that includes a remote control and 1 LED bulb with a white spectrum and color options.

Control with Motion

If you want your lights to turn on and off automatically with motion, choose a motion sensor and 1 warm white LED bulb (2700 Kelvin).

Customize for Every Moment

If you want to create various lighting settings using our app, choose a complete kit that includes a gateway, remote control, and 2 LED bulbs with a white spectrum.

With the TRÅDFRI gateway and the IKEA Home smart app, you can set up light sources individually or in groups. Create pleasant moods with various lighting settings – for example, for watching TV or for a romantic dinner, and control them with the remote control or the app. Turn off, turn on, dim, and switch from warm to cool light as you please. And set timers so your lights turn on when you want them to, even when you're away. With the gateway, you can expand your system to a total of 100 devices (light sources and control devices). We are continuously developing the IKEA Home smart app system with more functions and possibilities.

Voice Control

Add the TRÅDFRI gateway and the IKEA Home smart app to control your lighting simply with your voice, or set up and adjust your lighting via Amazon Alexa, Apple Home Kit, or Google Home.

2. Add more products as you like!

You can expand your system to up to 10 LED light sources and control them using a smart light control device. More information about the various product properties can be found in the tables on page 4.

Glossary

White Spectrum: Three different white tones from warm to cool (warm glow - 2200 Kelvin, warm white - 2700 Kelvin, cool white - 4000 Kelvin).

Light Source: LED bulbs, LED panel lights, and integrated LED spotlights and LED lamps.

Control Device: The product you use to control your light sources, e.g., a remote control.

LED Driver: TRÅDFRI LED drivers allow you to wirelessly dim integrated lighting such as MITTLED, SKYDRAG, VAXMYRA, and NORRFLY.

Group: A combination of LED bulbs, LED panel lights, or other light sources.

Mood: A group of light sources with different settings, e.g., dimmed differently and/or with different color temperatures.

Pairing: To add one or more light sources to a control device.

Gateway: The product that allows you to adjust your lighting and control TRÅDFRI products with your phone or tablet.

Additional Information

Can only be controlled with IKEA Home smart products. IKEA smart products are based on the ZigBee protocol. Cannot be used with wired dimmers.

IKEA smart products have a range of 10 meters if there are no walls blocking the signal. This range can be extended with any IKEA smart product. If the distance between two smart products is more than 10 meters, you can place a TRÅDFRI signal repeater between the two IKEA smart products to extend the signal.

If you want to buy an LED panel light:

• Don't forget to add the FÖRNIMMA power supply cable (required only if you want to mount the panel on the wall).
• Complete with a FÖRNIMMA intermediate connection cable if you want to connect more LED panel lights. It is possible to add up to 10 products in one installation.

Always check the maximum wattage of your lamps so you can choose a suitable TRÅDFRI bulb. With TRÅDFRI wireless dimmers (10 and 30W), all our integrated lighting series can be connected to IKEA smart lighting and controlled via TRÅDFRI remote control or the IKEA Home smart app. When using TRÅDFRI LED drivers for integrated lighting, flashing lights indicate that the maximum wattage of the LED driver has been exceeded.
