The block diagram illustrates the top-level hardware architecture of the CY711x EZ-PD™ PMG1-Sx MCU prototyping kit, detailing its main functional blocks and interconnections.

Power Section

This section handles power input, protection, and regulation.

  • Inputs: The system receives power and control signals via the 10-PIN SWD/JTAG interface, a Kitprog3 Type-C Connector ?, and a standard TYPE-C Connector ?.
  • Core Components:
    • A 30 V Protection Circuit ⚙️
    • A Power Cycle Load Switch** ?️
    • A 3.3 V LDO (Low Dropout Regulator)
    • A POWER LED ? indicating power status.
  • Outputs: The section provides regulated voltages including VTARG (3.3 V), VIN, VCC_IN, and 3.3V.
  • Control: Power is enabled via the Power EN** signal from the TYPE-C Connector, and VBUS_TYPE-C/VBUS signals are managed.
  • Sub-sections: The diagram also categorizes components into "Infineon Parts", "Loaded Parts", and "No Load Parts".

KitProg3 Section

The KitProg3 block serves as the onboard programmer and debugger.

  • Main Controller: KitProg3, based on the PSoC™ 5LP MCU ?.
  • Connections:
    • Receives KP_VBUS from the Kitprog3 Type-C Connector ?.
    • Controlled by a Mode Switch ?️ and the Power EN** signal from the Power Section.
    • Outputs KP_VBUS_IN to the Power Section.
    • Provides status via a KP POWER LED ? and a Status LED ?.
    • Includes a Target Voltage Measurement ? module.
  • Interfaces: Supports I2C, UART, and SWD communication protocols.
  • Connectors: Features a Kitprog3 Type-C Connector ?, two 10-pin Headers ?, a dedicated 10-pin SWD/JTAG ? connector, and an I/O HEADER ?.
  • CAPSENSE™ Interface: Includes user input elements: BTN1*** ?, a 5-SEGMENT SLIDER***, and BTN2*** ?, all connected via CAPSENSETM slider Signals***.

PMG1 MCU Section

This is the main microcontroller unit of the prototyping kit.

  • Main Controller: The PMG1 MCU ?, supporting multiple part numbers:
    • CYPM1011-24LQXI (EZ-PD™ PMG1-S0 MCU)
    • CYPM1111-40LQXI (EZ-PD™ PMG1-S1 MCU)
    • CYPM1211-40LQXI (EZ-PD™ PMG1-S2 MCU)
    • CYPM1311-48LDXI (EZ-PD™ PMG1-S3 MCU)
  • Inputs: Receives VCC_IN, CapSense Signals***, an Input Switch ?️, and XRES signal from the RESET Button* ?.
  • Outputs: Drives a Firmware LED ? and provides D+/D- and CC1/CC2 signals to the TYPE-C CONNECTOR ?.
  • Interfaces: Connects to the KitProg3 section via I2C, UART, and SWD protocols through the respective headers.
  • Power Management: Includes a 5 A Load Switch ?️, a DC Output Load Terminal ? (monitoring VBUS_MON), and manages VBUS_TYPE-C.
