Quick Start Guide

If you are a Windows user, please find the appropriate keycaps in the box, then follow the instructions below to find and replace the following keycaps.

Mac / Windows Keycap Replacement:

Diagrams illustrate the placement of specific keycaps for Mac and Windows operating systems, particularly for modifier keys like Option/Alt and Command/Win.

Connectivity

1. Connect Bluetooth

Instructions:

  1. Switch the toggle to Bluetooth.
  2. Press fn1 + Q (for 4 seconds) and pair with the device named "Keychron Q2 Pro".

2. Connect Cable

Instructions:

  1. Switch the toggle to Cable.
  2. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard and your PC.

The Layers

The keyboard features five layers of key settings:

  • Layer 0: Mac system
  • Layer 1: Windows system
  • Layer 2: Mac Multimedia keys
  • Layer 3: Windows Multimedia keys
  • Layer 4: Function keys

Multimedia, Function Keys, and Backlight

Multimedia and Function Keys

Multimedia Keys: Access media controls by pressing fn1 + specific keys. (Refer to Key Description for details).

Function Keys: Access F1 through F12 by pressing fn2 + specific keys. (Refer to Key Description for details).

The Backlight

Change Lighting Effect: Press fn1 + A.

Turn Backlight On/Off: Press fn1 + caps lock.

Backlight Brightness and Warranty

Adjust Backlight Brightness

Increase Brightness: Press fn1 + S.

Decrease Brightness: Press fn1 + X.

Warranty

The keyboard is highly customizable and easy to rebuild. During the warranty period, Keychron will replace defective parts, not the entire keyboard.

Factory Reset

Troubleshooting: If you encounter issues, follow these steps for a factory reset:

  1. Plug in the power cable and switch the keyboard to Cable mode.
  2. Factory reset the keyboard by pressing fn2 + J + Z (for 4 seconds).
  3. Download the right firmware and QMK Toolbox from the Keychron website.
  4. Switch the keyboard to OFF mode and remove the space bar keycap to find the reset button on the PCB.
  5. Hold the reset key first, then switch the keyboard to Cable mode. Release the reset key; the keyboard will enter DFU mode.
  6. Flash the firmware with the QMK Toolbox.
  7. Factory reset the keyboard again by pressing fn2 + J + Z (for 4 seconds).

Q2 Pro Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard Overview

Default Key Layout: Layer 0 (Mac)

This layer is activated when the keyboard's system toggle is switched to Mac.

Layer 1 (Windows)

This layer is activated when the keyboard's system toggle is switched to Windows.

Layer 2 (Mac Multimedia)

This layer is activated when the system toggle is switched to Mac and the fn1/MO(2) key is pressed.

Layer 3 (Windows Multimedia)

This layer is activated when the system toggle is switched to Windows and the fn1/MO(3) key is pressed.

Charging Function Description

Plug the USB Type-C cable into a USB port and the keyboard. The charging indicator will be red while charging and turn green when fully charged (around 5 hours). The Keychron Q2 Pro supports up to 5V charging voltage and 1A charging current. Use a 5V 1A adapter or USB 3.0 for best performance. It can be charged in Bluetooth/on/off mode.

Bluetooth / Wired Mode

Wired Mode

  1. Switch the toggle to the Cable option (requires USB cable plugged in).
  2. Connect the cable to your PC and keyboard.
  3. Backlighting will turn on.

*Under Wired Mode, the keyboard does not enter Battery Saver Mode.

Bluetooth Mode

  1. Switch the toggle to the Bluetooth option.
  2. Backlighting will turn on.
  3. Hold "fn1+Q" for 4 seconds to activate Bluetooth pairing (Bluetooth indicator flashes for 3 minutes).
  4. Search for "Keychron Q2 Pro" on your device and connect. The indicator turns off after successful pairing.

Note: Supports pairing up to 3 devices simultaneously via key combinations: "fn1" + "Q", "fn1" + "W", or "fn1" + "E".

*The Bluetooth indicator flashes for 3 minutes.

**Slow or failed connections may occur due to different Bluetooth versions; ensure settings are correct.

Switch Bluetooth Devices

Short press key combinations: "fn1” + “Q” / “fn1" + "W" / "fn1” + “E” to switch between paired devices.

Keyboard Operations and Settings

Reconnect

  1. Switch to Bluetooth option to activate.
  2. Bluetooth indicator flashes for 4 seconds and pairs with the last device.
  3. If indicator is off, press any button to reconnect.

*The keyboard must have been previously paired.

Turn Off the Keyboard

Switch the toggle to the OFF option.

Backlight Setting

  • Turn backlight on/off: Press fn1 + caps lock.
  • Switch lighting effects: Press fn1 + A / fn1 + Z.

OS Toggle Switch

  1. MAC/iOS: Switch to Mac/iOS when connected to a Mac or iOS device.
  2. WINDOWS/ANDROID: Switch to Windows/Android when connected to a Windows or Android device.

*When using the Windows/Android mode, the [Windows logo] and [Alt] keys are used for "Windows" and "Alt" functions respectively.

Input Method Switch and Troubleshooting

Input Method Switch

For iOS: Input method switch: Ctrl + Space. Caps Lock: Caps (Enable General > Keyboards > Hardware Keyboard > Caps Lock Language Switch).

For Android: Input method switch: Shift + Space.

Note: Multimedia key functions may be disabled due to compatibility issues. Avoid frequent OS switching as it may impact keyboard operations.

Troubleshooting

Unable to pair keyboard to device:

  • Confirm the device is Bluetooth-capable.
  • Restart the device and try pairing again.
  • Note for Windows: New Bluetooth connections may require software updates. Wait at least 20 minutes after pairing before restarting the computer.
  • Confirm the device is configured to accept Bluetooth connections and supports external keyboards (HID profile).
  • Go to Bluetooth Devices > Open Settings and ensure: "Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer", "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer", and "Alert me when a Bluetooth device wants to connect" are enabled.

Troubleshooting (Continued)

My keyboard isn't working:

For computer/smartphone: Go to device Bluetooth settings, select the keyboard, and remove/delete/unpair it. Restart your device.

For keyboard: Turn the keyboard off and on, then reconnect to your device.

Bluetooth connection is interrupted even within 10 meters:

Check if the keyboard is resting on a metal surface that can interfere with the Bluetooth signal.

Third-party input tools are not compatible with the keyboard:

Functions of third-party input tools may be affected due to compatibility issues with OS versions, brands, and drivers. Ensure your operating system and drivers are up to date.

Certain multimedia keys or function keys do not work:

Functions may be disabled due to compatibility, versions, brands, and drivers of devices.

Function keys: F1 / F2 / F3 / F4 / F5 / F6 / F7 / F8 / F9 / F10 / F11 / F12
