Rockwell Automation Compliance with California Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
Date: 17 March 2014
Dear Customer,
Rockwell Automation is committed to demonstrating the highest standard of global environmental management. We embrace this as a core value and an integral part of all operations and seek continual improvement of our environmental management system and performance. Our dedication is demonstrated by our compliance efforts as they apply to the California Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
Effective January 1, 2007, California law will ban the sale of some electronic devices containing certain hazardous substances, specifically lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium. The Electronic Waste Recycling Act (EWRA) prohibits “covered electronic devices” from being “sold or offered for sale” in the State of California if they are prohibited for sale in the European Union. Covered electronic devices, as defined in the California Code of Regulations—Public Resources Code Section 42463, apply to devices with a video display greater than 4 inches measured diagonally.
Based on our understanding, the Rockwell Automation products that fall within the scope of this law are the VersaView Light Industrial Monitors (6176M) and VersaView Heavy Industrial Monitors (6186-M). Both product lines meet the material restrictions of this regulation.
