Robot Roomba® 205 DustCompactor™ User Manual
This document provides instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Robot Roomba® 205 DustCompactor™.
Getting Started
Follow these steps to set up your robot.
- Remove Protective Film: Remove the protective film from the camera and the foam covers from the bumper.
- Place Docking Station: Place the docking station on a hard, level surface against a wall. Ensure good Wi-Fi® coverage. Maintain clearances: 0.5 m (1.6 ft) from both sides, 1.5 m (5 ft) in front, and 1.5 m (5 ft) from stairs. NOTE: Do not place the station in a sunny location. The space around the station must be clear for proper docking. WARNING: To prevent the robot from falling down stairs, place the docking station at least 1.5 meters (5 ft) away from stairs.
- Connect Docking Station: Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet. Coil the cord so it does not interfere with the robot's operation.
- Attach Side Brush: Align the edge-sweeping brush and press down until it clicks.
- Wake Up Robot: Place the robot in front of the docking station, then slide it towards the station and align the charging contacts. After a few minutes, you will hear a beep, indicating the unit is active. NOTE: The robot is shipped with a partially charged battery, but it is recommended to fully charge the robot's battery before the first cleaning (charge for 4 hours).
- Download Roomba® Home App: Scan the QR code with your mobile device's camera or find the Roomba® Home app in your app store. The app will guide you through the robot's configuration. With the app, you can:
- Control cleaning time, location, and method.
- Create automatic cleaning schedules.
- Set custom cleaning preferences.
- Unlock digital features.
- Access tips and answers to frequently asked questions.

- POWER Button: Press to start/pause/resume cleaning. Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn on the device. Press and hold for 10 seconds to turn off the device.
Cleaning Pattern
The robot will automatically scan and clean your home in straight lines. The robot will return to the docking station after completing a cleaning cycle, or when it needs to recharge.
Tips:
- Before cleaning, remove any clutter from the floor.
- To maintain clean floors, frequent use of the robot is recommended.
After 90 minutes of inactivity outside the docking station, the robot will automatically end cleaning. If you are unsure whether the robot has finished or is paused, check its status in the Roomba® Home app.
Spot Cleaning
Double-tap the [power-symbol] button to initiate spot cleaning of a designated area. After spot cleaning, the robot will end the cleaning cycle. Press the [home-symbol] button to send the robot back to the docking station.
NOTE: Using the Roomba® Home app for cleaning control is highly recommended. The mobile app can be used to clean specific rooms, schedule cleaning cycles, and create automations/schedules.
NOTE: Roomba robots are generally designed for vacuuming most floor types. We do not recommend using the mopping function on unsealed hardwood floors and certain laminate/vinyl panels due to the risk of water damage to the floor or subfloor. More information can be found at global.irobot.com.
Self-Emptying
- If the Dust Compactor™ bin is full, empty it before starting cleaning.
- Remove the water tank and wipe pad by pressing the tank release buttons on both sides of the robot.
- To start cleaning, place the robot back on the docking station and use the app or press the [power-symbol] button.
IMPORTANT: Regular cleaning of the Dust Compactor™ bin can prevent debris buildup. Otherwise, the performance of the vacuum-mop robot may decrease.
Vacuuming and Mopping (Combo models only)
When the water tank and wipe pad are installed, the robot can vacuum and mop simultaneously. After installing the water tank and wipe pad, the robot will automatically avoid carpets when in vacuum and mop or mop-only mode.
IMPORTANT: Do not add liquids such as hot water, detergent, or disinfectant, as they may damage the robot. Use only cold water or an iRobot-approved cleaning solution, as instructed on the support page at global.irobot.com.
After completing a mopping and vacuuming clean, remember to empty the water tank and replace the wipe pad.
- Slide the wipe pad into the water tank slot, then firmly attach it to the hook-and-loop fastener.
Water Tank Filling (Combo models only)
- Simultaneously press and hold both water tank release buttons, then slide the tank out from the underside of the vacuum-mop robot as shown.
- Empty old water and rinse the tank with fresh water.
- Before reinstalling the tank into the robot, thoroughly dry the exterior of the tank.
NOTE: When cleaning the tank with detergent, use only dish soap and rinse the tank thoroughly before reinserting it into the robot. Dish soap may damage the robot during operation.
NOTE: After mopping, immediately remove the water tank and empty any remaining water, then clean and dry the wipe pad to prevent odors and mold.
Mop Pad Cleaning
Using cold water, thoroughly wash the wipe pad and allow it to air dry.
