AmpliTube X-DRIVE Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for getting started with your AmpliTube X-DRIVE guitar effects pedal, covering its controls, settings, and saving presets.
Product Overview
The AmpliTube X-DRIVE is a versatile guitar effects pedal from IK Multimedia, featuring 16 distinct models and the ability to store up to 300 presets. It offers comprehensive control over parameters, global settings, and preset management.
Controls and Interface
The AmpliTube X-DRIVE features the following controls:
- Display Screen: Shows preset names, parameter values, and menu options.
- PRESET/SAVE Encoder: [turn] to browse through 300 available presets. [push] to save a preset.
- MODEL/BACK Encoder: [turn] to browse through 16 available models. [push] to go back when navigating menus.
- PARAMETER/SETUP Encoder: [push] to access additional parameters for the selected model. [hold] to access global and preset setups.
- MAIN PARAMETERS Knobs (6): [turn] to edit the main parameter of the model. These knobs are common to all X-DRIVE models, but their function is customized for each one.
- A, B, C LEDs: Indicate preset status: Green if the preset is active, Amber if the preset has been edited, Blinking Amber when browsing among banks, Off if bypassed.
- A, B, C Footswitches:
- [press] to engage or bypass the preset of the current bank.
- [hold] to access the X-MODE for the selected model.
- [press] A+B to select a lower bank.
- [press] B+C to select a higher bank.
Global Settings
Global settings affect the X-DRIVE independently of the selected preset. To access them:
- [push and hold] the PARAMETER encoder.
- [turn] to navigate to GLOBAL, then [push] to select it.
- [turn and push] to browse and select the different settings.
- [push] the MODEL encoder to go back.
Key global settings include:
- Name Mode: Changes how preset names are displayed (NAME, PC+NAME, BNK+NAME).
- Bypass Mode: Sets the bypass technology (TRUE: true bypass, SOFT: soft bypass).
- Operative Mode: Sets the pedal's operational mode (LIVE: audio signal from analog input is processed by DSP and sent to all outputs; INTERFACE: analog audio input is split and routed to different USB outputs to record clean and processed tracks).

Preset Settings
Preset settings affect only the currently selected preset. To access them:
- [push and hold] the PARAMETER encoder.
- [turn] to navigate to PRESET, then [push] to select it.
- [turn and push] to browse and select the different settings.
- [push] the MODEL encoder to go back.

Additional Parameters & Cabinet Simulation
In addition to the main parameter set, each model has other parameters editable via the PARAMETER encoder. To access them:
- [push] the PARAMETER encoder to enter the PARAMETERS list.
- [turn] to browse among the PARAMETERS, then [push] to select one.
- [turn] to edit the selected PARAMETER.
- [push] the PARAMETER encoder to go back to the PARAMETERS list.
- [push] the MODEL encoder to exit the parameter list.
CAB SIM (Cabinet Simulator): Selects the preferred cabinet simulator for the selected preset. There are 5 cabinets available, plus the option to disable the Cabinet Simulator to use it as a secondary MAIN OUT.

Saving Presets
To Save a Preset:
- [push] the PRESET encoder to enter the saving process.
- The first letter of the preset name starts blinking, indicating the cursor position.
- Rename the Preset: [turn] the PRESET encoder to select a character; [turn] the MODEL encoder to change the cursor’s position.
- [push] the PRESET encoder to confirm the name.
- The display shows a location (bank number and slot).
- [turn] the PRESET encoder to select the desired location.
- [push] the PRESET encoder to select the location and save the preset with the chosen name in the chosen location.
Quick Save: To quickly save a preset, [hold down] the PRESET encoder until the display shows "SAVED".
Software and Registration
To get the full AmpliTube X-GEAR experience:
- Follow the instructions found on the Registration Card to register your pedal.
- Download the Product Manager to install the following included software:
- AmpliTube 5 SE: Guitar amp and FX modeling software with a perfect virtual version of your X-GEAR pedal.
- X-GEAR Librarian: A dedicated program to manage your presets easily and also to move them between the AmpliTube virtual version and the hardware pedal.
