Seamless Monitor from Sharp: Top Model with Record Dimensions
At IFA 2011, Sharp is presenting its PN-V601 model in diverse display installations. The monitor is specifically designed for cascading into video walls. It features a very narrow bezel and measures 152 centimeters (60 inches) diagonally. The full-array LED backlighting ensures uniform light distribution and particularly brilliant images.
Berlin, IFA 2011 – When IFA, the world's most important trade fair for consumer electronics, opens its doors on September 2, 2011, Sharp will present various cascading options for its 60-inch seamless monitor. Video walls of different sizes and interconnected PN-V601 displays will demonstrate the wide range of application possibilities. In a nine-screen formation (3x3 screens), for example, the displays achieve a total image diagonal of 4.6 meters (180 inches). The narrow bezel is only 6.5 millimeters¹ wide, ensuring that the image surface is not interrupted by large transitions. The seamless monitors can be expanded as needed and cascaded both horizontally and vertically into a single surface.
"With the PN-V601, we have set new standards in the market for seamless monitors," says Peter Heins, Product and R&D Manager at Sharp Electronics Europe. "Compared to other, significantly smaller LC displays on the market, our model has fewer lines because we can cover more area with a single screen. Proportionally to the size of the split wall, the costs for acquisition and power consumption of the devices also decrease."
Full-Array LED Backlighting
In addition to its impressive size and near-seamless overall appearance, the brilliant image quality of the PN-V601 makes the monitor a focal point on any wall. The device is equipped with full-array LED backlighting, guaranteeing a bright image regardless of the content. Several hundred white LEDs are arranged uniformly directly behind the LC display, ensuring even light distribution. With a maximum brightness of 700 Candela per square meter, there is no drop in brightness even at the edges.
Ideal for Large Display and Advertising Surfaces
"With these features, our monitors are ideally suited for a variety of large-scale installations – whether at trade fairs, in large event spaces for companies, or in the Digital Signage sector, where the devices are used as indoor advertising surfaces, for example, in train stations and airports," explains Peter Heins.
Software and Expandability
Sharp also provides matching software for calibrating the PN-V601. For those who want to use the monitors even more flexibly, the devices can be expanded using a simple "building block principle." Highlights include the option of an interface board with additional interfaces (I/F expansion) and the possibility of connecting an external control unit. Suitable wall mounts can be obtained through Sharp's system partners.
Production in the First 10th Generation LCD Factory
The displays for the new seamless monitors are produced in Sharp's most modern factory in Sakai. This is the first time the electronics group has been able to manufacture panels from 10th generation motherglasses measuring 2.88 by 3.13 meters and process them into LCDs for professional monitors. Due to the efficient manufacturing process, Sharp can offer the screens on the market at an attractive price while maintaining high quality standards. Another top figure: With a monthly capacity of 72,000 motherglasses, Sharp is theoretically capable of producing 432,000 of these displays per month.
