Safety Instructions
Failure to observe these safety instructions may void the warranty. Conrad Electronic SE assumes no liability for resulting damage, property damage, or personal injury caused by incorrect handling or non-compliance.
a) General
- Unauthorized conversion or modification of the product is prohibited for safety and approval reasons. Do not open or disassemble the device.
- The product is designed according to protection class I. Only a standard earthed mains socket from the public supply grid may be used as a power source.
- The mains socket used must be easily accessible.
- The product is not a toy and must be kept out of reach of children. Position it accordingly.
- Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, as it can become a dangerous toy for children.
- The product features enhanced protection against accidental contact. The receptacle openings are only released by the integrated mechanism when both prongs of a power plug are inserted simultaneously.
- Exercise special caution when children are present. Children may not recognize the dangers associated with electrical devices, posing a risk of life-threatening electric shock.
- Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or falls, even from a low height.
- For any questions not covered in this manual, please contact technical service or a qualified specialist.
b) Operating Location
- The product must only be operated in dry indoor environments; it must not become damp or wet. Never place the product near bathtubs, showers, bathrooms, swimming pools, or similar areas due to the risk of lethal electric shock.
- The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or strong vibrations. Keep it away from strong magnetic fields generated by machinery, electric motors, or loudspeakers.
- Do not operate the device in environments with high dust levels, flammable gases, vapors, or solvents, as this poses a risk of fire and explosion.
- The device may warm up during operation. Ensure it is not placed on sensitive surfaces.
- Do not use this product in hospitals or medical facilities, as radio waves may interfere with medical equipment. This may also apply to other sensitive areas.
c) Handling and Use
- Never handle the mains plug with wet hands when connecting, disconnecting, or operating the device. This poses a risk of life-threatening electric shock. The same applies to the plug of the load connected to the product's socket.
- Never connect the product to the power supply immediately after moving it from a cold room to a warm one (e.g., during transport). Condensation may form, potentially destroying the device and causing electric shock. Allow the product to reach room temperature and wait for condensation to evaporate (this may take several hours) before plugging it into a mains socket and using it.
- Always use the gripping surface to pull a mains plug out of the product. Never unplug a mains plug from a socket by pulling the cable.
- Do not overload the product. Refer to the "Technical Data" chapter for the maximum permissible connected load.
- Do not connect in series, as this can lead to product overload and fire hazard.
- Do not operate the product while covered. High connected loads can cause the product to warm up, leading to overheating and potential fire if covered.
- For safety reasons, disconnect the product from the mains socket during thunderstorms.
- The product should be volt-free only when unplugged.
- Do not use the product if it is damaged, as this poses a risk of life-threatening electric shock. In such cases, dispose of the product in an environmentally correct manner. Safe operation cannot be assumed if:
- The product shows visible signs of damage.
- The product does not work at all or works poorly (e.g., leaking smoke, burning smell, audible cracking noises, discoloration of the product or adjacent surfaces).
- The product was stored under unfavorable conditions.
- The product was exposed to heavy loads during transport.
- Never pour liquids over or near the product, as this poses a high risk of fire or fatal electric shock. If liquid enters the device, immediately switch off the power supply to the connected mains socket (turn off the fuse/circuit breaker/residual current operated circuit breaker of the associated circuit). Only then unplug the product from the mains socket and contact a specialist. Do not use the product further.
- Always pull the product out of the mains socket (e.g., wall socket) before cleaning it or when it will not be used for an extended period (e.g., for storage).
- Use the product only in temperate climates, not in tropical climates.
Connection
- Plug the energy meter into a standard earthed mains socket (wall socket) of the public supply grid.
- Plug the desired load into the receptacle (3) of the smart socket. Always turn the energy meter off before connecting a load.
Operation
a) Switching On/Off
- Press the On/Off button (1) to switch on the energy meter and the connected load. The load indicator light (2) will illuminate.
- Press the button again to switch off the power supply to the connected load. The load indicator light will go out.
