- Do not splash water over the product. This could lead to electric shocks or fire.
Mandatory
- Wiring must be conducted after turning the inverter power off.
- Turn off the power immediately if any abnormalities (smokes, smells, abnormal noise) are found. Neglecting these conditions could lead to fire. For repairs, contact your agency.
Transportation and Installation
Danger
- Do not install or operate the inverter if it is damaged or any part is missing. Operating in a defective condition could lead to electric shocks or fire. For repairs, contact your agency.
- Do not place flammable material near the product. It could catch fire if the product sparks due to a breakdown.
- Do not install the product where it could be splashed with water. This could lead to electric shocks or fire.
Mandatory
- The product must be used under the environmental conditions prescribed in this manual. Using it under unspecified conditions could lead to breakdown.
Cautions
Prohibited
- Do not install the product in places subject to vibrations or where it could fall, as this can cause injury.
About Operation
Danger
Prohibited
- Do not wipe the body with a wet cloth. This could lead to electric shocks.
- Do not pull on the cable. This could cause damage or error.
About Disposal of the Product
Cautions
Mandatory
- Dispose of the product as industrial waste. Failure to do so may pose risks to human injury.
Cautions on Use
Cautions
- Avoid installation locations subject to rapid changes in ambient temperature or humidity.
- Route the transmission cable separately from the inverter input/output power wiring.
- When disconnecting the connection cable, hold the connector carefully to avoid undue stress on the cable and unit.
- Optional cable connectors have locking pawls. Disconnect by pressing the pawl.
- Mount the Option Unit securely on the panel to prevent it from falling, which could cause malfunction or breakdown.
- Connect an electromagnetic contactor or similar device between the inverter and the power source for external emergency stop control.
1. Names and Functions of Main Parts
Names and functions of the Extended Panel parts are shown below. The inverter's panel remains available even when the extended panel is connected.
Diagram Description: The diagram shows the front panel of the Extended Panel. It features indicator lamps: RUN (inverter running), VEC (vector control mode), ECN (energy-saving mode), MON (monitor mode), PRG (parameter setting mode), PANEL CONTROL (Run/Stop key enabled), and PANEL FREQUENCY (UP/DOWN key enabled). There is a central display screen. Below the display are control buttons: RUN, STOP, MON, ENT (Enter), and directional arrow keys (UP and DOWN). The diagram also indicates 'Hole for installation' at the top and bottom, and a 'Connector of communication' on the side.
2. Connection and Start-up
Connect the Extended Panel with the inverter following these steps:
- Ensure the inverter's charge lamp is off and at least 10 minutes have passed since the power was turned off.
- Connect the communication connectors of the Extended Panel to the inverter's common serial option (communication) connector using the optional cable.
- Secure the communication cables after connection.
- Power on the inverter. The display should then become active.
Note: To remove the cable, ensure step 1 (power off and wait) is confirmed first.
Connection Example (VF-S7)
Diagram Description: This illustrates the connection between a TOSHIBA VF-S7 inverter and the Extended Panel. The inverter has a 'Common serial option connector'. The Extended Panel is shown with its display and buttons, connected to the inverter via a cable plugged into this connector.
Mounting
Mount the Extended Panel (RKP001Z) onto the front of the control panel board. Create an opening according to "Figure 1. Panel cut dimensions". Then, install the Extended Panel using the M3 screws, nuts, and spacers provided, as shown in "Figure 2. Mounting of extended panel".
Diagram Description (Figure 1: Panel cut dimensions): This diagram provides precise dimensions for cutting a mounting hole in a panel board. It shows the overall width of the opening (60.0 mm) and height (112.0 mm), with specific measurements for screw hole placement (M3) and the diameter of two 3.5 mm holes (2-φ3.5 hole). Dimensions are in millimeters.
Diagram Description (Figure 2: Mounting of extended panel): This diagram illustrates the physical assembly of mounting the Extended Panel onto a control board. It shows the Extended Panel being attached from the outside of the panel board using M3 screws, nuts, and spacers. The diagram distinguishes between the 'Outside of the panel board' and 'Inside of the panel board', showing how the panel is secured.
