Important Safety Warnings

⚠️ WARNING: This conversion kit must be installed by a licensed professional service technician (or equivalent) or other qualified agency. Installation must comply with the manufacturer's instructions, all applicable codes, and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.

⚠️ WARNING: Protect the control from direct contact with water. If the control has been in direct contact with water, it must be replaced.

⚠️ WARNING: When servicing controls, label all wires prior to disconnecting. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous operation. Verify proper operation after servicing.

⚠️ WARNING: Disconnect power before servicing the unit. Shut off main gas supplies to the appliance until installation is complete.

⚠️ WARNING: Ensure proper earth grounding of the appliance. Ensure proper connection of line neutral and line hot wires.

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Precautions and Procedures

⚠️ CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge can affect electronic components. Take precautions to neutralize electrostatic charge by touching your hand and tools to metal prior to handling the control.

  1. Turn off electrical and gas supplies to the furnace.
  2. Remove the access panel and the control box cover. Label the wires before disconnecting.
  3. Disconnect the wires and harness connectors from the existing control.
  4. Remove the control by unlatching the two mounting legs on the right side of the control and then rotating it toward you.
  5. Replace with the provided control and reconnect the marked wires and harness connectors.
  6. Replace the current diagnostic sticker with the provided diagnostic sticker.
  7. Restore electrical and gas supplies to the furnace.

Shipping and Packing List

Package 1 of 1 contains:

  • 1 - Integrated control (Part Number: 107045-XX, where XX is a two-digit suffix)
  • 1 - Diagnostic sticker (Part Number: 107343-XX, where XX is a two-digit suffix)

Application

Use the replacement integrated control kit (22K51) with communicating enabled SL280 and EL296 units. This control is designed for use with a 120V ignitor only. Do not install this integrated control in a furnace equipped with a 95V ignitor. Integrated control 107045 (two-digit suffix) can be used in communicating or non-communicating applications.

Installation

Follow the steps outlined in the ESD precautions section for safe removal and installation of the control. Ensure all wiring is correctly reconnected according to the unit's specific wiring diagram.

Non-Communicating System Configuration

For non-communicating applications, set all DIP switch settings and on-board links exactly as the control being replaced. When replacing the control in a non-communicating system, it must be configured using the flow chart provided on page 4.

Wiring Diagrams and System Configurations

The following figures illustrate various system configurations and wiring details:

  • Figure 1: Wiring diagram illustrating connections for communicating enabled furnaces with communicating or non-communicating outdoor units and thermostats. These diagrams show the connections between the furnace, outdoor unit, and thermostat for communicating systems.
  • Figure 2: Diagrams illustrating optional accessory connections for communicating systems. This includes 120V connections for humidifiers and air cleaners, 24V humidifier connections, UV light applications, HEPA bypass filter interlock kit, and LVCS ventilation control system.
  • Figure 3: Flowchart and tables for setting the Program Unit Capacity/Size Mode. This process is crucial for ensuring the control correctly identifies the furnace model and capacity.
  • Figure 4: Schematic Wiring Diagram for SL280UHV.
  • Figure 5: Schematic Wiring Diagram for SL280DFV.
  • Figure 6: Schematic Wiring Diagram for EL296DFV.
  • Figure 7: Schematic Wiring Diagram for EL296UHV.
  • Figure 8: Schematic Wiring Diagram for EL296UHV with Blower Drive.

These diagrams provide essential information for correct installation and troubleshooting.

Program Unit Capacity/Size Mode

Upon power-up, the integrated control displays a unit size code representing the furnace model and capacity. If three horizontal bars are displayed followed by continuous E203, the furnace control does not recognize the unit size code and requires manual configuration.

To enter Program Unit Capacity/Size Mode:

  1. Push and hold the button next to the 7-segment LED display until a solid "P" symbol appears. Release the button.
  2. IMPORTANT: Field replacement controls may need to be manually configured to validate the furnace unit size code.
  3. Ensure the room thermostat is turned to OFF.

The control will then display unit size codes for different furnace models. Push and hold the button to cycle through the codes. When the correct unit size code is displayed, release the button. The selected code will flash for 10 seconds. During this period, press and hold the push button for 5 seconds to store the code. The control will then exit the mode and reset.

Verification: After programming, cycle the 24-volt power to the furnace control. The 7-segment LED should display the correct unit size code. If three horizontal bars display, the programming function must be repeated.

Tables are provided within the document listing specific furnace models (e.g., SL280UH070V36A, EL296DF0450V36A) and their corresponding unit size codes (A, H, 0, 8, etc.).

Optional Accessories

The communicating thermostat senses humidity and controls humidifier contacts based on demand, eliminating the need for a separate control or humidistat. An optional outdoor air sensor may be used with a humidifier if not already integrated into the system.

Note on 24V UV Light Applications: In a communicating system, neither the furnace nor the air handler supports direct UV light applications without an additional transformer.
