Product Overview

The SONOFF BASIC/RF is a compact Wi-Fi Smart Switch designed for remote control and automation of home appliances. It allows users to turn devices on/off from anywhere via a smartphone app.

The device features a sleek design with input and output terminals for wiring, a manual switch/pairing button, and LED indicators.

Operating Instruction

1. Power Off

Before installation, ensure the power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker.

2. Wiring Instruction

Wiring: Use 16-18AWG SOL/STR copper conductor only. Tightening torque: 3.5 lb-in.

Important Notes:

• Make sure the neutral wire and live wire connection is correct.
• To ensure the safety of your electrical installation, it's essential that a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) or a Residual Current Operated Circuit Breaker (RCBO) with an electrical rating of 10A has been installed before the BASICR2, RFR2.

4. Power On

After powering on, the device will enter the quick pairing mode during the first use. The Wi-Fi LED indicator changes in a cycle of two short and one long flash.

The device will exit the quick pairing mode if not paired within 3 minutes. To re-enter this mode, long press the manual button for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED indicator changes in a cycle of two short and one long flash.

5. Add the Device

Tap the '+' icon in the eWeLink app and select "Add Device". Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.

Compatible Pairing Mode

If you fail to enter Quick Pairing Mode, try "Compatible Mode" to pair:

1. Long press the pairing button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED indicator changes in a cycle of two short flashes and one long flash. Long press the pairing button for 5 seconds again until the Wi-Fi LED indicator flashes quickly. The device then enters Compatible Pairing Mode.
2. Tap "+" and select "Add Device", then select "Compatible Mode" on the app. Select the Wi-Fi SSID "ITEAD-******" and enter the password "12345678". Then go back to the eWeLink APP and tap "Next". Be patient until pairing completes.

Specifications

BASICR2 does not support the remote controller with 433.92MHz.

RF Remote Controller Pairing

The RFR2 supports remote controllers with a 433.92MHz frequency band for turning on/off. Each channel can be learned independently, providing local short-range wireless control, not Wi-Fi control.

Pairing Method:

Long press the configuration button for 3 seconds until the red LED indicator flashes red once, then short press the remote control button you want to pair for successful learning.

Clearing Method:

Long press the configuration button for 5 seconds until the red LED indicator flashes red twice, then short press the learned button corresponding to the remote controller to clear code values of all learned buttons.

Switch Network

If you need to change the network, long press the pairing button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED indicator changes in a cycle of two short and one long flash and release. The device then enters quick pairing mode, and you can pair again.

Factory Reset

Deleting the device on the eWeLink app restores it to factory settings.

Common Problems

Q: Why my device stays "Offline"?

A: The newly added device needs 1-2 minutes to connect to Wi-Fi and the network. If it stays offline for a long time, please judge the problem based on the green Wi-Fi indicator status:

1. The green Wi-Fi indicator quickly flashes once per second, which means the switch failed to connect to your Wi-Fi:
   • Maybe you entered a wrong Wi-Fi password.
   • Maybe there is too much distance between the switch and your router, or the environment causes interference. Consider getting closer to the router. If failed, please add it again.
   • The 5G Wi-Fi network is not supported; it only supports the 2.4GHz wireless network.
   • Maybe MAC address filtering is enabled. Please turn it off.

   If none of the above methods solve the problem, you can enable the mobile data network on your phone to create a Wi-Fi hotspot, then add the device again.

2. Green indicator quickly flashes twice per second, which means your device has connected to Wi-Fi but failed to connect to the server. Ensure a steady enough network. If double flashes occur frequently, it means you are accessing an unsteady network, not a product problem. If the network is normal, try turning off the power to restart the switch.
