Getting Started
Turn off computer's power before connecting the scanner, then power up the computer once the scanner is fully connected.
Power Supply Assembly (if included)
The power supply assembly involves connecting the power adapter to a wall outlet. The diagram shows a power adapter being plugged into a wall socket.
Connecting the Scanner
USB
Connect the scanner's USB cable to a USB port on the computer.
Keyboard Wedge:
Connect the scanner's cable to the keyboard port on the computer, and the keyboard cable to the scanner's cable.
RS232 Serial Port:
Connect the scanner's cable to the serial port on the computer.
RS485:
Connect the scanner's cable to the RS485 port on the computer or point-of-sale terminal.
Reading Techniques
The viewfinder projects an aiming dot that should be centered over the barcode for a good read. The aiming dot's size changes based on the scanner's distance from the barcode. Hold the scanner close to smaller barcodes and farther away from larger barcodes for optimal scanning. For highly reflective barcodes, tilt the scanner at an angle.
Standard Product Defaults
Scanning the 'Standard Product' barcode will reset all standard product default settings.
Note: PDF and 2D barcodes can only be read by Voyager model 1470g2D and cannot be read by model 1470g1D.
RS485 Interface
The RS485 interface defaults to port 5B. To program the terminal for port 9B on an IBM POS terminal, scan the 'IBM Port 9B HHBCR-1 Interface' or 'IBM Port 9B HHBCR-2 Interface' barcode and then power cycle the cash register.
Note: For additional RS485 interface selections, refer to the User Guide.
Keyboard Country
Scan the appropriate country code to program the keyboard layout for your country or language. Default national character replacements are used for specific characters. Refer to the ISO 646 Character Replacements chart in the User Guide for country-specific character replacements.
Supported Countries: USA (Default), Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany/Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Norway, Spain, Switzerland.
Note: For a complete list of country codes, see the User Guide.
Trigger
The following barcodes configure the scanner's trigger mode:
- Manual Trigger - Normal (Default): Press the button to read.
- Presentation Mode: The scanner activates when it detects a barcode.
Suffix
Configure barcode suffixes:
- Add CR Suffix: Adds a carriage return after the barcode.
- Add Tab Suffix: Adds a tab after the barcode.
- Remove Suffix: Removes existing suffixes.
Add Code ID Prefix to all Symbologies
Scan the 'Add Code ID Prefix To All Symbologies (Temporary)' barcode to add a Code ID prefix to all symbologies at once.
Note: For a complete list of Code IDs, see the User Guide.
Function Code Transmit
When enabled, the scanner transmits function codes within scanned data to the terminal. In keyboard wedge mode, scan codes are converted to key codes before transmission. Charts of function codes are available in the User Guide.
- Enable (Default)
- Disable
Data Format Editor Instructions
