RadioMaster TX16S MKII Quick Start Guide
This document provides a quick start guide for the RadioMaster TX16S MKII multi-protocol radio system.
Product Overview and Features
Thank you for purchasing the RadioMaster TX16S MKII Multi-protocol radio system. This system is suitable for various RC models including fixed-wing aircraft, gliders, helicopters, cars, boats, robotics, and multi-rotor aircraft. The TX16S MKII utilizes the powerful EdgeTX operating system.
Physical Layout (Back and Gimbals)
The rear of the RadioMaster TX16S MKII features a module bay, changeable grips (included), a 3.5mm audio out port, a 3V battery cap, and a battery bay.
The gimbals are equipped with tensioners and a travel limiter. Gimbal 1 is the horizontal tensioner (clockwise increases tension, counter-clockwise decreases). Gimbal 2 is the stick travel limiter (clockwise increases travel, counter-clockwise decreases). Gimbal 3 is the vertical tensioner (clockwise increases tension, counter-clockwise decreases). Gimbal 4 controls the gimbal mode (clockwise disables self-centering, counter-clockwise enables self-centering).
Available ports include UART SD, USB-C, a UART slot, and a charging port.
Front Panel Controls
The front of the RadioMaster TX16S MKII features a 2.4 GHz antenna, S1 and S2 dials, SF (2-Position), SE (3-Position), SB (3-Position), SA (3-Position) switches, an LS Slider Pot, a speaker, and the left gimbal. The right side has 6 Pos Buttons, SH (Momentary), SG (3-Position), SC (3-Position), SD (3-Position) switches, an RS Slider Pot, and the Power Button. Other controls include the right gimbal, 1.5mm HEX, T1-T6 Trim Buttons, MDL Button, Scroll Wheel, SYS Button, RTN Button, PAGE> Button, PAGE< Button, and TELE Button. A 480*272 TFT Full-color Touch Display is centrally located. Batteries are not included.
Important Information & Downloads
Firmware
The TX16S MKII comes pre-installed with the most stable firmware. Update firmware only if confident, as incorrect updates can render the remote control inoperable.

Safety Information
Radio control models often have powerful motors and sharp propellers. Exercise caution during maintenance. Ensure power is disconnected and propellers are removed.
Do not operate the TX16S MKII remote control system under the following conditions:
- Severe weather (rain, hail, snow, storms) or strong electromagnetic environments.
- Limited visibility.
- Areas with people, property, high-voltage power lines, public roads, vehicles, or animals.
- When feeling tired, unwell, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- If the remote control or model appears damaged or not working properly.
- Areas with high 2.4GHz interference or where 2.4GHz radio is prohibited.
- When the radio's battery voltage is too low.
- Areas where local regulations prohibit the use of aviation models.
Batteries & Charging
The TX16S MKII features built-in USB-C charging for 3.7v Lithium cells. The charging circuit is designed for 2x 3.7v Li-ion 18650 unprotected cells or 2x 3.7v Li-poly cells (2s 7.4v LiPO pack) with a nominal cell voltage of 3.7v and maximum charge capacity of 4.2v.
Approved Battery Types:
- 2x 3.7v Li-ION 18650 (7.4v using supplied tray)
- 2x 3.7v Li-ION 21700 (Assembled as 7.4v 2s Battery pack)
- 2x 3.7v Lithium-polymere (Assembled as 7.4v 2s Battery pack)
DO NOT USE:
- 2s 6.6v LiFE battery pack.
- 18650 lithium-ion cells with a nominal voltage of 3.6v.
- LiFEP04 18650 Round cells.
Using the USB charger with incorrect battery types or voltage may cause damage or fire. If using Li-ion, ensure cells are unprotected and button-top. Check battery health regularly. Never charge unattended. Always charge in a safe area away from flammable materials. Do not charge if the remote control gets wet or damaged.

Model & Protocol Selection
Multi-protocol Module
A wide variety of modules are available for TX16S MKII units with the 4-in-1 module. Visit the multi-module website to check protocol compatibility. New protocols are updated and added to the latest firmware.
Operation:
- Long press the MDL button to enter model settings.
- Select MULTI in the SETUP page.
- Choose the desired protocol in the sub-options. The system will automatically activate the corresponding RF module.
- Bind [BND] initiates the binding process.
- Range [RNG] button reduces power to 1/30 for testing remote-control distance.
ELRS Version
TX16S MKII ELRS units feature an internal ELRS module with default 100mW transmitting power. For non-extreme conditions, 100mW output at a 500Hz update rate is recommended to reduce battery drain and heat.
Attention for 4in1/CC2500 Users
Some receivers may require frequency tuning. Follow this link for instructions: www.multi-module.org/using-the-module/frequency-tuning
Bind Instructions
- Turn OFF the transmitter.
- Cycle power to the receiver 3 times; the receiver LED will flash twice, indicating bind mode.
- Turn ON the transmitter. Long press the SYS button, navigate to the TOOLS menu, select ExpressLRS LUA, scroll to [Bind], and press enter.
- The receiver LED should now be solid, indicating a successful bind.
